2:14 I watched Cosmos when it was first shown in the early 80s. After his death, whenever I saw one of these floating by, I’d imagine it to be the spirit of Carl Sagan. (Technically it’s a thistle seed or thistledown. I remember a field behind my parents house which would release in the summer, and I’d be reminded of him)
The scenes at beginning were filmed on the property of the Vita/Grimes Ranch located at mouth of Palo Colorado Creek along Highway 1 north of Big Sur in Monterey County, California. The Rocky Point Restaurant is immediately north of this spot. The remake of Cosmos was filmed around the ranch house and its out buildings on east side of highway where as these scenes were filmed on west side (or ocean side) of highway.
How many of you started sing the Symphony of Science when he said, "The cosmos is also within us. We're made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself."? I love We Are All Connected.
My dad couldn’t understand any of the science on the show and my mother only watched because she liked the sound of his voice. I watched to learn and add to what I already knew from school and National Geographic covering Voyager’s 1 & 2.
Not to condone drug use as a means of gathering knowledge, but I thought of a similar idea once when I was on acid - that life is the means by which the universe experiences itself. The greatest scientists, like Sagan, were great in part because of their ability to become detached and to look objectively at things, and I think hallucinogens can be a quick/easy route to that mental state, though not the most sustainable. It's very healthy sometimes to just step out of our mental ruts for a second
W. Why not, because someone told you that? At least dude makes it clear that his opinion is more of a possible suggestion then an answer like your opinion seems to state
@FatalError2319 While that is sad and true, I hope you are not putting Philosophy on the same footing as Theology. Philosophy is sadly misunderstood, it is the father of all academia and flows through it like the blood in our veins. Science in itself was developed largely through extensive Philosophical debate about Epistemology, that is; what knowledge is and how we might go about procuring it. People underestimate its value and essential importance. It is critical thinking and formal logic.
If only More Humans thought in Carl Sagan Terms , looking for Truth no matter where we Find ourselves, this Quality of thinking is not prevalent in what we Think of Modern Society and Cult Politics is becoming the Overriding State of Existence
The most poetic astronomer ever.
Ya, the great Sagan.

Thank you Carl Sagan. The man who opened our eyes to science in a so unique way that joined it with our souls. That’s why you are so unforgettable.
I don't remember the first time I saw a Carl Sagan on our local PBS station klrn San Antonio but I was hooked from then on
Sadly, of late. I remember the lecture he gave so many years ago and how his word resident then echo even more today.
I am a biologist and medical student but Carl Sagan has always captivated my mind

Physicists give Engineers something to do. Engineers help Physicists do more of what they do by making something of their work and creating value.
which episode was this?
Carl Sagan es el hombre en el qué me quiero convertir el hombre que quiero ser
La persona qué deseo ser
Aha...but then there's another kind:
The inventor.
A true inventor.
Speaking for myself I believe in it all.
