Yes, and when I tested it I had to dim them down so it didn't wash out the color coming from the blue lighted panel in the back of the passenger cabin.
I love that the only paint is high-temp engine paint! If the model gets up to 500-degrees then all the plastic will pour out and you're left with a hard candy Spindrift shell! Lighting looks real good. The interior passenger seats look way too small. I am too lazy to dig out my old Spindrift to see what the cockpit instruments all look like-- so interested in seeing what is there and then, what you do to it.
The seats in the passenger compartment can only be set facing the counter tops. If you face them forward as I wanted to, they are jammed into the sides and won't sit level.
Oh, and I love how the seats weren't bolted to the floor and the guy who spent the whole series sweating profusely, took a header at the first sign of turbulence :)
This is looking great so far! I only ever caught a few episodes of the show when I was a kid. I think it's the only Irwin Allen show I didn't watch on a regular basis.

Excellent.. A lot of detail for such a small model. Would love to see you do the proteus from fantastic voyage with this level of detail and lighting. Great work..🍻👍
One of the interesting things they did with the Spindrift set on the show was show how worn out the ships appearance changed over time . The first episodes it was clean looking. By the end of the show's run the ship was highly weathered a crummy faded orange, with moss growing on it.
It's weird, if you face the seats forward like I wanted to, they hit the edge of the counter tops and would be crooked from the floor so they have to go towards the sides. They made the pedestals molded on the floor too far outboard.
Very cool Boyd! Is that board you got from TenaControls the same as the one he has on the website? I have that one but have the same concern about using LEDs as you mentioned.
Yes, the effect will be the same but I had him use a really small board that will fit inside behind the interior panels. Either board will drive LED's or LED strip.
Hi Boyd. You mentioned trimming down the foliage to bring it more "in scale". In keeping with the Land of the Giants theme, wouldn't you want to use much larger "out of scale" foliage to highlight the Spindrift's small size compared to its surroundings. The "little people" should be way smaller than the surrounding grass, trees, foliage. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
On the show they had plants about the size I picked compared to the ship. The figures it comes with are about 3/4" tall so the plants will look huge compared to them.
Question Another fan of Land me, by watching the shows and some pictures i have in the Irwin Allen scrapbook vol.2 , the series had trouble staying in one scale but by averaging by the pictures i think they were trying to maintain a 6foot man = 3inches or 2ft to 1 inch scale, wondering if you have any idea if this is the scale they were trying to use. Thank you
Great job Boyd it's looking really nice 👍 👌
Thanks :)
Really really enjoyed the video.. as usual, just fun. thanks so much
Beautiful job, I know this video is a little old but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed seeing the detail you put into this project.
Looking great buddy! Yeah, too much light would may it look way wacked out!! 👍😀

Going well so far. My only complaint is not enough close-up photos of he interior work.
Perfect attention to details LOVIT 👽
Really looking good.
She is looking great.
Good old Chevy Red-Orange. Painted many a small block with that.
Very good.

@@TrekWorks As a kid I never noticed! But as an adult... yeah... Still, somehow doesn't take away from it all!
Love your channel.
What about this idea? For the ceiling overhead light, use a UV LED, and then use fluorescent paints for the control panels lights?
This is looking great so far! I only ever caught a few episodes of the show when I was a kid. I think it's the only Irwin Allen show I didn't watch on a regular basis.
I don't know why but I didn't watch it much either.
Nice work!
Very nice work Boyd. Can't wait to see the pulsing lights that will look really cool.
Thanks, I hope I it seals up good without a ton of light leaks, so far so good.
I do like the work so far and your simple solution for the lighting, it works well.
Looks really good.

There are lot's of materials that work great for models and a lot of them cost less than products that are marked as for hobbies.
Loved this show back in the day great work as always boyd.
Boyed, Have you ever looked at Arduino boards and NeoPixel LED's? Ship looks great.

Looks great, the lights really add to it.
The Spindrift is looking great Boyd, the lighting is really outstanding.

Would that orange paint work for U.S. Coast Guard orange?
👍👍👍

Looking great Boyd. Amazing how you bring these kits to life. Your work is second to none in my opinion. Have a great weekend!
Looks really good, love the lighting.
You could add some brown paint to the plaster to use for a base texture.
Your models always look amazing. So have you ever tried using opaque water line with strip LEDs as a diffuser?
Looking forward to your next build.
Not a very cost-effective space liner. Only carried four passengers.
