Women on the losing team not patient enough, goes for too many winners. Pretty good players but thought for 4.5 finals they would be better but I watch mostly the pro's so I am not the best at judging 4./4.5/5.0 levels.....Winning team played very smart though. Congrats !!!
Solid 4’s. Lady in blue was getting picked on but her partner wasn’t doing her any favors either. He missed way too many opportunities to put the ball away and instead hit weak shots that ended up being returned. I’m surprised the first game was that close.
Many of the US Open 4.0-4.5 games have seemed to be somewhat weak and inconsistent play. These are clearly strong 4.5s who could do well at 5.0 50+. Really solid play from both teams.
the players who lost never once tried an offensive lob. When I'm playing a senior who is short and doesn't look really athletic, I'm going to lob a lot off the return of serve, and during dink rallies. The winning team were excellent dinkers and had good blocking skills, but their movement wasn't as good as the losing teams. Lob them and get them out of position! Once you lob a couple of times, they will have to anticipate another one, which takes their concentration off the other shots.
Pickleball is the great equalizer, especially at this level. This is the perfect example of the extremely fit and athletic couple losing to the average American couple.
The other team figured out early that the woman was the weaker player. So they kept going to her. Sometimes the woman is stronger and then they will pick on the man.
It’s odd how significantly different the quality of play is on matches for tournaments with players of the same rank. This was a good match, but as a new pickleball player, it’s confusing to know where one ranks, especially if you use UA-cam posted matches as a gauge.
Lady in blue skirt/guy in blue shirt always at the net but never really do anything with the ball..they don’t move the ball around enough hence taking a long time to win the point. They seem to be playing defense at the net when really they have the advantage. Many missed opportunities.
Blue skirt lady needs to calm down. She has skills, but blows way to many points. Her partner is playing way to cautious to compensate. You can tell she could play better. On balls she just reacts to she does extremely well.
Skinnier team was clearly more athletic and better skill set…but fell victim to too many unforced errors. All they needed to do against this team was keep the ball in play and play to their feet…
@@TC-dw6wgyou must be new to a paddle/racket sport. I have no idea who these people are, but the lady in the blue skirt, had the better footwork, was mixing up shot selection, shot types, etc. HOWEVER, what the winning team did was simply keep the ball in play and DEEP. While the lady in blue was playing a more aggressive low percent style of play, the winners played high percentage shots and forced the other team to make mistakes. Clearly, the lady in blue has a tennis background and coming to pickleball and playing less aggressive is one of the hardest things to adjust to. High level tennis players want to blow their opponent off the court because that’s what they are used to. Pickleball is all about being patient.
@@NOT_A_TOP_FAN You are correct. I'm still adjusting to being patient. It's that mentality of hitting the line, the corner, keeping the ball low over the net of a tennis player. The whole game is set up to win at the NVZ with the soft game and quick hand not quick feet or aggresiveness
I would be hitting most shots toward her as she is moving around way to much (reacting to shots). Most points were scored off her. Gentleman in white hat is the better player IMO.
You can step in 😊 if the ball bounces… you can stay in the kitchen as much as you want. You can only hit it after it bounces. You cannot volley in the kitchen
I think due to their age group, their rank goes up. In other words both criteria are taken into consideration. A 19 year old 4.5 player would wipe these people off the court even though their ranking would be the same.

I like your minimalist commentary❤
Wow, these are really strong players. Quick reflexes, resets, drops, just great.
these people aren’t that good relax on them
@@bradysylvester6259 Too bad you're not secure enough in your own skin to be able to give out a compliment.
Great games by the winners! Blew the other team out in game #2.
The better team won! Better placement, better communication, smarter tactics.
This looked like a good 4.5 match. I think both teams played well. Great job.

Just getting into pickleball and this is my fav match to watch! Great job and control. The team that won were just on everything lol.

I agree. I've seen some good players that just don't do lobs well. This is where scouting could pay off.

Terrific stuff!👏
Gratz to all
Do they purposely hit towards the women as easier targets?
In my experience playing in many tournaments, the female is the weaker player about 85% of the time. As a result, she is targeted by the opponent.
The other team figured out early that the woman was the weaker player. So they kept going to her. Sometimes the woman is stronger and then they will pick on the man.

how is this 4.5?!
Lol , maybe had something to do with the other teams putting them on their back hands shots , dropping shots in the kitchen and picking on the lady .

Seems to be lack of experience on blue skirt.
The lady in the blue skirt, the one that hits all net, is more like a 3.0 player
Then you must be a 2.0
Blue skirt is too aggressive, hitting the net or out.
I guess they have good control, but strategy sucks.

Blue skirt was all over the place. 90% of points were off her and reason they loss. She looked good, but less experienced than other players.

@bcm7819: “skinnier team” 😂
Did they self rate? They are terrible.
And I guess you are an expert at rating players then…
I believe they must be sanctioned rated prior to playing in a tournament just to keep it fair.
While it was a loss the blonde seems to have amazing court awareness.

At 0:59 he stepped into the kitchen. Thought you couldn't do that.

What's with the grunting? This isn't pro tennis.
my friend and I tease each other about our grunting in Pickleball so it does happen
Sorry, I fell asleep watching pickleball again.
Again? Sorry to hear that. Get some rest, dear.
I don’t understand what you gain from saying this
Yeah I can only watch for a few minutes gets boring, not at all like tennis.

The most boring sport on earth.
Have you played it?
Almost as boring as baseball
padel is a better sport. Its more athletic and theres nothing like hitting a tennis ball against a glass wall.
