I agree 100!! I stopped playing D2 2 months ago and I still get the urge to play whenever I see videos of new weapons. Then I think, huh that god roll probably will get nerf within a month. Same happens when I see a nasty build. Trials is a cesspool of toxic sweats. Used to be good in WQ dlc. Warframe for me right now. Waiting for GTA 6 and ES 6.
Good luck with hitting 5000 GJ. I had fun in trials when there was sbmm. While I never got to the lighthouse, many games were close makingnit challenging and fun. Since they removed sbmm it has been a sh1tshow of getting obliterated by sweats (then tbagged) and hammered by cheaters with perfect aim, unlimited supers and heavy weapon ammo. If I did have a good game, I'd get toxic messages on how I was a cheater. If I have a bad one, I get crap from the rando 'teammate' about how I should end myself. To most of us trials is full of crap abusive people and having the odd civilised player doesn't make it worth our time. Bungie blew it.
I'm very average and can't tell you how many times I was told to uninstall. It's beyond toxic. Still love the game and trying out all these new class items has been a blast for me. Being solo I'm thankful for Bungie letting us acquire these through the festival.

I second this, streamers who sit in the playlist 24/7 have always been the problem, they drive regular players out of the playlist and cry about stream sniping when ever they match a good team themselves. Bungie also needs to remove duos and remove loss protection for teams.
It's a good players fault he is beating handicaps? How about you improve at the game? A year or so ago jake would 10-0 me now we'd go like 8-10 ( he'd still win due to his game knowledge). 100% that, but this problem is being pushed to 11 because of how Trials works be design - 7 wins out of 9 is simply not fun or feasible for an average player with how poorly designed matchmaking is. I'm all in for adepts to be rare, but that's just BS. In GMs you feel rewarded by completing it the first time because the effort put into activity pays off. In Trials you get absolutely abused and drained even after 7 to 9 matches that you don't feel anything anymore. You can tell it even by Jake streams - by the time they end, Jake is an emotionless teenager who gets triggered by almost anything in chat. If I were him, once he reaches 5k flawlesses, I would transition to do GM carries instead.

As someone that is not a very good PvP player, this is how I see things... If you want to play with funny builds in competitive PvP, play Elimination. Trials, to me, has always been for the sweaty of the sweats. The real issue for people like GJ is that he's not able to create content as readily because he's gotta be more focused on the game itself rather than the entertainment factor. This produces less content for him to make, which hits... you guess it... his wallet. Which is why people like him tend to say that Trials is in a bad shape. But to me, Trials is doing exactly what it was built for.
It’s an interesting point but I am not sold that it’s as much about his wallet for him. He’s been doing this a long time and he’s probably honestly making more money from sponsorships than something like UA-cam or even streaming. But even so he has said many times he’s done very well and he just wants to see the state of trials improve. I think he’s bored.

If everyone has 7 wins in a row (wich is kind of impossible) no one will be happy. Don’t play trials if you don’t like sweaty comp or are willing to spend a long time for a single adept/week. If you just want trials loot: loose 20-30 games and you will have 1-3 normal godrolls and some trials drip. Also something to be proud of.

I know you have that 5/5 bygones roll and probably use Prismatic Hunter or Titan meta build, but trust me, for people who don't, trials is as sweat fest not worth going into. I was consistently getting flawlesses on Friday almost every weekend before the Final Shape. Now I always get to win 4, and game starts to put me against 3 stack even though I always solo queue. Add to it the fact that even though I play Prismatic Warlock, I don't use Lightning Surge which really is the only ability that competes with other 2 classes' meta. I simply stopped playing trials because weapon rewards aren't even worth it. Apart from summoner, we don't have any meta defining PvP adepts, in a PvP Pinnacle gamemode, laughable.

I keep telling people destiny 2 is not a pvp based game yes it has those elements in it but it's not what it's most known for if thats what you want out of the game and nothing else then cod or battlefield is more for you
Yeah but that’s what makes destiny so cool being able to grind guns and gear in different pve or pvp activities and try that stuff out against other players. It’s also what would keep the game alive during content but it’s terrible now and boring because it got neglected so long that you see the numbers dropped off across the whole game.
PvP just isn’t fun anymore. I stopped playing to protest the changes they keep making that reduce ability and special weapon uptime. I can’t snipe anymore due to these changes and primary only gunplay is just boring. Plus the one sided games I keep getting. I have had so many cards ruined because of getting put against sweat lords while my teammates are casuals. Even ran into Jake on my flawless game once sure he helps people but he also ruins other people’s cards.
There is no way Trials can get any better without a strong and steady flow of new players and that needed to happen two to three years ago. No amount of loot is going to help. This is a population problem. And Bungie leadership apparently gave the team exactly one shot. And it didn’t work.

Playing solo in trials I can get to the light house. But in a group it’s extremely sweaty. Definitely player base is low I can agree with Jake. Don’t think bungie has many options for this problem unless they fix the PvP cheating problem. Players who aren’t crucible players don’t want nothing to do with it.
I’ve only ever watched his channel for a laugh. And I’ve only recently done that. I’ve never actually seen someone that hates competing as much as him. He’s very skilled but really prefers playing terrible players. I don’t understand how that could bring someone joy.
5000 flawles is insane, I almost got my first solo queue flawless this weekend and on my lighthouse match, one of the guys on my team departed, we still tried very hard but inevitably lost and that really hurt
It sure is an achievement, or will be, but that's just like artificial respiration to get a week more or so of lucrative Twitch time. The whole culture of doing carries feels so wrong and twisted. Just as bad paying 100 000 to climb Everest. I only have 20 or 21 Flawless games. Wonder how many times I have been refused and denied to go to the Lighthouse by carries or recovery services? The only thing that trials is loosing players is dominion. Sheikh Dfp talked about this on titans WoD nerf rant. Trials was all skill and map variety play of how to win your rounds and help getting your super quickly, if the match took long time they would get captured point to appear. Now in trials it’s more like go to the capture point immediately while the opponent do the same and it makes it not fun because you will have deal a lot of primary plays sometimes shotguns and ability spams and it makes supers less play than abilities. So the best thing for bungie to do is remove dominion from trials and make it OG trials
Pvp as a whole seems dead. I played crucible matches to knock out a seasonal challenge a few days ago. 7 matches straight of control, my wait for a game was 5 or so minutes, and I wound up matching against or with the exact same 11 people in control every game. I got so tired of it I changed playlists. Couldn't find anyone in comp, switched to rumble and eventually found enough for a round, I played two and you bet it was the same people for the next game. 30,000 people were on in destiny 2 on steam at the time and over an hour of matches Bungie found me the exact same people. Seems dead to me..
It's the streamer fault for the state of the game, I'm so tired of hearing, I'm quitting, it's over, boo hoo, please leave and quit and let us enjoy it and not have the elitist destroy it
Hard to enjoy if your wanting to play to get gud and get loot to have rando teammates that sweat and start craping on you for not being good at the game, telling you to quit and such. The player base is so low because hackers, people that don't want to have fun in trials and just want treat it as a ego trip / a job. Makes it hard to get new players in if teammates just say your trash, Or just get a stacked team that just steam rolls you in minutes. I get that you need to be top of the game but with how players are in the game its not a welcoming game type to play. Carries should not be a thing since the ppl that get carried don't learn anything. they can just play as a casual crucible game and let the others that are better then you do the heavy lifting. And get rewarded for doing nothing but being the mascot / target practice via the enemy team.

What I'm hearing is.....we about to have ANOTHER Trials of the Nine scenario where Trials is just nothing but sweat and cheaters xD....ya know what would solve this...at least on the loot chase front? A PvE Trials of Osiris where you could get the same armor same weapons and same ships sparrows ghosts and shaders. I’d play more if I got adept weapons for even suffering through just give the flawless players a cool unique camo I’m a pve player and bungie puts a lot of one of one weapons in that current sandbox behind the lighthouse I just wait months for them to introduce a variant in pve

Ive played trials maybe 3 times, and ive play destiny since d1. Making a career off a game, especially pvp in a mainly pve game it has to come to an end eventually... Everything does. He'll be okay
Jake was part of the Bungue bashing with Lightfall. So not really ferling sorry for him. Since he's come back I think he realized he's a brand ambassador for PvP. While PvP is frustrating since Cronus and Xim so I appreciate Jake still playing while most of us won't go in. Too many 6 wins then 7th is cheaters. Bungie, take pity on guardians! Trials is literally the worst part of the game. Don't get me wrong, I used to love the game mode, it was something new for me, something challenging but it's come to the point where Trials has been in the game for so long in it's current state it's just not enjoyable at all. It's always the same people venting their thoughts about the game mode over and over and I think people are sick of hearing about it. I would have pivoted and found something new to focus, even if it's a new game by this point. I wish GJ all the best with his future but from a business point of view he's flogging a dead horse at the moment.

PvP just isn’t fun anymore. I stopped playing to protest the changes they keep making that reduce ability and special weapon uptime. I can’t snipe anymore due to these changes and primary only gunplay is just boring.
Plus the one sided games I keep getting. I have had so many cards ruined because of getting put against sweat lords while my teammates are casuals. Even ran into Jake on my flawless game once sure he helps people but he also ruins other people’s cards.

There is no way Trials can get any better without a strong and steady flow of new players and that needed to happen two to three years ago. No amount of loot is going to help. This is a population problem. And Bungie leadership apparently gave the team exactly one shot. And it didn’t work.

Playing solo in trials I can get to the light house. But in a group it’s extremely sweaty. Definitely player base is low I can agree with Jake. Don’t think bungie has many options for this problem unless they fix the PvP cheating problem. Players who aren’t crucible players don’t want nothing to do with it.
I’ve only ever watched his channel for a laugh. And I’ve only recently done that. I’ve never actually seen someone that hates competing as much as him. He’s very skilled but really prefers playing terrible players. I don’t understand how that could bring someone joy.
He wants easy wins. He's not playing the game to have fun.
5000 flawles is insane, I almost got my first solo queue flawless this weekend and on my lighthouse match, one of the guys on my team departed, we still tried very hard but inevitably lost and that really hurt
It sure is an achievement, or will be, but that's just like artificial respiration to get a week more or so of lucrative Twitch time. The whole culture of doing carries feels so wrong and twisted. Just as bad paying 100 000 to climb Everest. I only have 20 or 21 Flawless games. Wonder how many times I have been refused and denied to go to the Lighthouse by carries or recovery services? It's a big money bisnes and the streamers are loosing their money...
The only thing that trials is loosing players is dominion. Sheikh Dfp talked about this on titans WoD nerf rant. Trials was all skill and map variety play of how to win your rounds and help getting your super quickly, if the match took long time they would get captured point to appear. Now in trials it’s more like go to the capture point immediately while the opponent do the same and it makes it not fun because you will have deal a lot of primary plays sometimes shotguns and ability spams and it makes supers less play than abilities. So the best thing for bungie to do is remove dominion from trials and make it OG trials
Pvp as a whole seems dead. I played crucible matches to knock out a seasonal challenge a few days ago. 7 matches straight of control, my wait for a game was 5 or so minutes, and I wound up matching against or with the exact same 11 people in control every game. I got so tired of it I changed playlists. Couldn't find anyone in comp, switched to rumble and eventually found enough for a round, I played two and you bet it was the same people for the next game. 30,000 people were on in destiny 2 on steam at the time and over an hour of matches Bungie found me the exact same people. Seems dead to me..
It's the streamer fault for the state of the game, I'm so tired of hearing, I'm quitting, it's over, boo hoo, please leave and quit and let us enjoy it and not have the elitist destroy it
Hard to enjoy if your wanting to play to get gud and get loot to have rando teammates that sweat and start craping on you for not being good at the game, telling you to quit and such. The player base is so low because hackers, people that don't want to have fun in trials and just want treat it as a ego trip / a job. Makes it hard to get new players in if teammates just say your trash, Or just get a stacked team that just steam rolls you in minutes. I get that you need to be top of the game but with how players are in the game its not a welcoming game type to play. Carries should not be a thing since the ppl that get carried don't learn anything. they can just play as a casual crucible game and let the others that are better then you do the heavy lifting. And get rewarded for doing nothing but being the mascot / target practice via the enemy team.
You get the content that you ask for. Stop watching bad streamers and you'll be fine.

Jake has made a complete fortune off trials and carries and is clearly annoyed that trials and Destiny2 in a whole is nowhere near as popular anymore and very little people care. Hence it affects his income which is why he does these videos moaning. There are literally millions of other games he could play and stream but he won’t because he only wants Trials to make his money

What I'm hearing is.....we about to have ANOTHER Trials of the Nine scenario where Trials is just nothing but sweat and cheaters xD....ya know what would solve this...at least on the loot chase front? A PvE Trials of Osiris where you could get the same armor same weapons and same ships sparrows ghosts and shaders. And yeah yeah I hear the PvP whiners "that'll kill the player pool!" xD no it won't it's already dead and dying at this point make a PvE version so that we don't get caught in the crossfire of the sweats vs cheaters war in Trials.
I don't play much trials but I've had fun in the past with the game mode. People don't like seeing others succeed in their goals. Hopefully he does hit that 5k flawless number!

Ive played trials maybe 3 times, and ive play destiny since d1. Making a career off a game, especially pvp in a mainly pve game it has to come to an end eventually... Everything does. He'll be okay

Trials is literally the worst part of the game. Don't get me wrong, I used to love the game mode, it was something new for me, something challenging but it's come to the point where Trials has been in the game for so long in it's current state it's just not enjoyable at all. It's always the same people venting their thoughts about the game mode over and over and I think people are sick of hearing about it. I would have pivoted and found something new to focus, even if it's a new game by this point. I wish GJ all the best with his future but from a business point of view he's flogging a dead horse at the moment.

Jake is big par of the problem, he gets frustrated when trials have become sweets games, when jake is another guy who plays 24/7 with another streamer of his level, 24/7, and many other streamers too, but especially jake, now that there are not so many casuals, and the vast majority are sweets players 10/15/20 years, they get their own medicine, and they start crying, especially jake, I'm sorry but it's not the first time jake cries, and blocks people in destiny when he loses.
I have nothing against it, but 0 compassion for this, a large part of the problem with this has been the fault of the streamers that they started to play trials in stack all day and they encouraged that in the beginning, It is normal that many people have abandoned the game.
