A lot of times, the knock-offs are made in the same plant as the name-brand items. Someone in the factory runs an extra shift, using the same designs, dies and tooling, but usually the cheapest materials they can source.
Some times the Chinese are the designers and people from all over the world travel there to find these products to put their logo on and sell them as originals. Then unaware consumers see that there is a generic product that looks as their branded one and think it's a knockoff. The mayority of social media viral products are like this.
Well considering both the knives he got are US made that wouldn't be the case for these, at least with the knives. Of course with other things it does happen. There was a 30$ version of a makita impact driver floating around a couple years ago.
@@evanacey1414 no knives too dude. On benchmade and only made in the US knives? Nah. But lower end Kershaws or other companies (yes even US ones) who have some of their stuff made in China? Absolutely.
I tried "Wish" once. I bought some latex gloves that appeared to be indestructible on the ad where they showed that a nail couldn't penetrate it. The glove broke while opening the packaging.
I’m surprised your stuff arrived. I’m at 1/3 streak with them. The other few items I’m not calling or emailing about as they’re cheap items, but it’s shocking that all these people are getting their stuff tbh.
@@jonduncansakurawallknifegarden it did take several months for something that cost under $5 (pre Joe inflation). My GF bought some security cameras and solar panels via Alibaba on a recommendation from her brother's friend. It took forever to arrive and then she found the quality very poor. She ended up junking them and going with more of the existing ones from Costco.
there is a lot of junk..no doubt..but if you know what your looking for you can get incredibly high quality, and actually original gear (best on Ali Express though). Flashlights: Sofrin, Convoy, Wurkkos, Astrolux, Immalet, Lumintop, Noctigon, Thrunite, and others. Knives/multitools: Petrified Fish, SRM, Sanranmu, Really good knives: Twosun If you want any help, I've spent a lot of time scouting the site.
That plastic case that the flashlight came in is fairly common from wish. I ordered a cheap knife just for display and it came in the same case. I repurposed it into a pistol case for a couple of my 1/3 scale model 1911s with some high density foam. It came out pretty good.
It's standard just for Chinese goods. I bought a set of 10 glass tanks for my vape mod a few years back, and I was completely confused when I got this black tactical box in the mail. Not complaining though, because I repurposed it too.
So at Christmas two years ago, my mom got a two pack of those flashlights somewhere and gave one to me and my father. Different branding but same light. I just throw it in my truck as a backup light and my father keeps his in his shed for when he’s working on a vehicle or something. They’re great for leaving somewhere, and ours have worked fine for a while
Not to imply any of these are real but real counterfeits are a thing in China. Its not uncommon for manufacturers in China to produce more than their quota and sell the extras as counterfeits online. It is a real problem, its common with fishing gear, automotive tools, OBD scanners, a cheap shopper can find authentic fishing gear sold online (if its produced in China) for a lot less than retail. The average pay in China is about $10 USD per day, and that's considered very good money. Most live on less than $1 USD per day, so there is a market for authentic counterfeits online. A lot of people fight for having the highest quality fakes, some times they are real, some times they get the production information directly from the factory producing it. Often times they are not real but don't be surprised if one day you run into something that is identical because odds are there is a decent chance it is authentic, just produced without the companies permission.
The knock-off 940 seems to be based on the 940-1. Between the S90V blade material claim, the blue barrel spacers, and the handle scale materials, they are much closer to the -1 model (which would make sense as that was the highest end of the 940 models)
Yes, that was my observation as well. I actually bought one of the Wish ones just like this. As a knife I love it. I can't afford $200+ for a freaking knife, but for $20 I can't complain. The only issue I have with it is that the screws holding the belt clip in don't tighten the clip down so it's always loose. Otherwise it's been a decent little knife for the year or so I've had it.
To fix an OTF deployment issue, I usually grab the blade and pull it all the way out or flick it with my wrist to make the blade come out all the way and that typically helps catch the deployment / retraction mechanism. It works with the benchmade infidel.
@@ChrispyThings I saw, I'm thinking maybe the bumping on the table before that may have jammed the action back with the blade causing them to both become stuck. If not that then definitely just the cheap quality. I have some friends that have owned micro techs and you can see the difference in quality just by looking at it.
Yes. I have a German made OTF $800 knife and even that one sometimes does this. It's an easy fix but if you slam the knife on something hard like he did, it may break the unit.
@@AronMouz lol when people call out my straight up bullshit post I make literally just to troll people...I just admit it was all BS..wonder if they will
I actually bought one of those knockoff Dango M1 Maverick Rail wallet a couple of months ago for about $20. I just wanted to see how it feels like using it first and how functional it is compared to my legit Trayvax Ascent and Original 2.0. I didn't want to spend over $100 and end up not really liking it. Now after using it, I think I want to buy the legit Dango M1 Maverick Rail. Probably in a month or 2. And I'll add the Chassis Clip.
I went the opposite direction xD I have the dango wallet and want to buy the 20 dollar one for vacations and shit where it may get lost or damaged cards are easy to cancel or replace but losing a 100 dollar wallet stings

Hey, the thing with the knock off microtech happens with actual microtech knives as well sometimes. You just have to grab the tip of the blade and pull it all the way out so it catches the spring … spray some wd40 in if it keeps having issues lubricant

I just watched an unboxing of a marfione custom beard comb and it had the exact same issue. Those who say it doesn’t happen to new ones don’t know what they are talking about. That being said, there are better OTF’s from wish/China, and some really impressive pieces if you are willing to spend over $50.
I buy a lot of stuff from Wish and I have been pretty happy with them except for how long you have to wait for it. I mostly buy my archery stuff from them like tabs, nocks, finger savers etc ... One example is ... I have bought arrows dirt cheap that hold up just as good as arrows you buy here for three or four times the price. Braided fishing line is another great buy from them I have gotten dirt cheap.
The Chinese actually really like archery and fishing as well as many outdoor sports. So they probably make pretty good stuff for themselves and to us in the US it is dirt cheap.
What I've found with buying from China is don't get stuff trying to masquerade as made in USA when it's not. There are tons of companies that don't hide where they are made and they make some awesome stuff, for knives look at twosun and kizer for example. It's all about researching how reputable they are with the claims they make.
The thing is that thoose brands are selling products with a price close to the cost of known good brands, so no one is gonna risk it and buy one of thoose when they can get an Opinel for cheaper.
Two other really good knife brands are ganzo/firebird and eafengrow. Most of their blades are d2 tool steel which isn't fancy, but takes a nice, long lasting work edge.
I have that same exact flashlight. My dad gave it to me. He got some where, not Wish. Its weathered multiple hurricanes, tropical storms and keeps on going... Believe it or not.
Wish app has a chat, if something breaks, they'll refund your money. It's gotten alot better over the last couple of years. Shipping is almost the cost of the products. I got the flashlight, it's okay. The watches don't last. I have a benchmade bugout from them, really dull, won't sharpen. Their clothing like hoodies, jackets & tactical pants are good.
>really dull, won't sharpen Most likely if blade is really a carbon steel it is a D2 tool steel. D2 tool steel is notoriously hard to sharpen, which is why most modern top brands don't use it. However if you sharpen it carefully with a set of whetstones it will stay sharp.
Same here lol, never ordered from wish, geek, ect... came close a few times but never could get past the description script. Just didn't make since and it seemed to good to be true. You get what you pay for. Good vid.
There are multiple tiers of fakes, you got the cheapest ones. Better cost 30-50 bucks, and they are (nearly) indistinguishable and even use high(er) quality steel or even carbon, if the original has it.
@@ChrispyThings noo, i think that was an misunderstanding (maybe because me first language isn’t English). I meant that some of them have a higher steel than your model, and if you get a real good one you might even get a really good steel , maybe even near the original. 😉 - i collect knifes myself, and i saw fakes with titanium scales and everything. I have a benchmade and a high quality fake, and it’s really hard to distinguish the two. If you are into this stuff you know the subtle differences, but for a normal person (even if they are into knives)? No chance. I would never encourage someone to get a fake, it’s plagiarism, and that’s a fact you can’t change. But if you are really into a knife you might never own because it’s 500 bucks a good fake for 40 or 50 might be tempting. Even if the steel‘s inferior…
I actually bought a mini microtech like that one off wish not too long ago for $40 and I really like it. Functions better than the one in this video. It was a different listing too.
Speaking from experience but not everyone knows. Chinese manufacturing facilities offer tons of pre designed options that they offer to vendors. It's very common for items to not be "knock offs" so much as branded bulk pre-designed.
Though i despise wish, I'll credit them for at least not completely ripping people off on prices unlike Amazon that's reported with many knife collectors who end up receiving rip offs after paying hundreds of dollars thinking it's legit. Thats why i prefer SMKW for any gear they got or anything more than 30 bucks.
All you have to do on the fake Microtech is take it by the handle and sling out the blade and it will lock back out into place and then you can push down on the button to retract it back in the blade and then it will function properly again, even the real microtechs do that on occasion.
I burn my flashlights at work all the time so I'd definitely buy that flashlight. I've bought comparable ones at the store for like 20 bucks and they're gonna last me the same so lol
I bought a Surefire Scout "clone"....its the same light as my legit Scout. The actual Scout costs over $300.....the clone was $46. It's the same light.
So with OTFs, when the blade does that, you just pull it out to the end of its travel, until it clicks into the full extended position. This can happen to any OTF, like if you move your hand quickly in the same direction as the blade is moving. It's not broken, it's just cheap and isn't super reliable.
3:40 to be honest these “pirates” probably aren’t stealing designs. They are probably made in the same exact factory, they just slap the “dango” name on one and charge more money than the “knock off” it’s probably the same exact wallet
@@ChrispyThings very possible. It’s just how it is with most things on wish. Made in the same factory as name brand stuff. I bougnt a knock of ridge wallet from wish. Was a 1:1 replica of the real deal. Couldn’t tell one single difference. Weighed exactly the same too. I’m convinced it’s the same factory as ridge wallet but without the brand name on it
Fake chronographs , non-functional buttons , and false sub-dials are common in Chinese watches . Those components are for looks only . It will have a tiny and very simple non-chronograph movement inside with a tiny battery and a huge plastic spacer to make the movement fit tight in that large case .
It’s amazing how close these clone items get to the real thing. Obviously, you can tell the difference in quality with most of these items. The main thing is that people buy all this stuff, so they keep making it.
@@littlejackalo5326 You would be surprised how often this happens. One factory owner in China making vaping products cloned an ENTIRE brand and all their products for YEARS because they were making the real products as well. And it's been happening to so many other areas as well, not just vaping. The owner of the actual brand from the US, went to China at one of the vape expos, where this scumbag had the logo plastered everywhere and had a fake version of the real owners name on his chest. The owner of the real brand slapped them with a IP Infringement lawsuit, and got laughed out of the building by the judge. So it happens more often than you apparently think. They even have fake McDonalds, Burger Kings etc. showing off as if they are the real thing.
Yeah because the factory making the clone is using the same tooling as the factory making the real thing. Sometimes they'll use cheaper screws, springs, aluminum, whatever. But it's essentially the same product. That's why these products are attractive in the first place.
The titles are for getting as many flags as possible, so when you search something it shows up. You can search knife and get a plate carrier/holster for example cause they try and get as many different keywords as they can
Just what you need in a critical situation is something that fails on you. The price is so low because no R&D, no QC, substandard material, no safety standards and virtual slave labour.
Everything made in china is slave labour. So even the original product is being made by the same slaves making the knockoff. Do you think the slaves making iPhones are better off than the others? They have nets outside windows to prevent suicide, and they do pregnancy tests to women monthly and if positive they just give them abortions.
The Dango & Wish wallets are made in the same manufacturer. The only difference is the branding. You can do the same thing and put your branding on all sorts of items that others charge more for.
i sued to keep one of those flashlights as a worklight. Came in a two pack, one of them fell apart immediately, the other one is still going strong 50/50 quality control LOL. But hey for like 5$ a light, it makes it tolerable when you fuck up and forget your light in a drop ceiling or something
I bought one of those type lights years ago and the problem is after a couple of minutes the Cree LED heated up so much that the solder broke Free. Luckily I was able to fix it with one of my surplus Cree LEDs and now works fine. Hint, you add thermal paste to the underside before soldering to ensure a good thermal distribution.
You missed THE most important and obvious thing about the flashlight: that's not a genuine XML-L2 LED. It's not just that the throw and lumen numbers are bunk. The source is the problem. It's not an XML L2.
One common scam to be aware of: someone will approach with a sob story, asking for gas money to get them home. to make it worth your trouble, they'll appeal to your greed by tempting you with a fake gold chain, knock-off goodies like in this video or who knows what.
The watch is pure junk. I’ll bet if you can keep it running it’ll lose minutes a day. The knife is also junk. I bought a $30 microtech knife about 10-15 years ago from WISH and it’s still working and cutting great. I bought it because I lose a real Microtech 2 times so I figured a knock off is for me. The flashlight isn’t too bad, I keep a similar one in my truck, because it uses the 123 batteries it doesn’t leak. I wouldn’t trust the wallet because I’ll bet it uses inferior springs and the only way you’ll find out is when you lose your cards. Thanks for posting
My EDC pen is a knock off. Only found out after I've been carrying it for a while. Wouldn't have gotten it had I known. It's so close that even official distributors of the originals can't tell. It's a Lamy All star rollerball. Everything looks right. The pen itself has nothing I can identify as fake. The box though says Made in China. As far as I know, Lamy produces everything in-house in Germany also, the vendor has a running production of my color of pen which I found out later is a limited edition and should no longer be in production.
First of all I worked for "WISH" and will start at the end of your review about the Billion lumen flashlight. It actually is a Billion lumens to a baby 🐜 ant! And the spring loaded knife met all my expectations as it actually worked the first time! And the Benchmade knife was made using real Benchmade materials that was recycled. Personally I buy everything off Wish because it makes me feel real warm inside to think that I have found a company that really cares about poor people. LMFAO!!!!!
That was a knock off of the 940-1 S90V not the original 940 Aluminum handle. You nailed it they never made that carbon fiber stripe handle and it's hilarious it says s90v. It almost looks like a mix of the 940-1 and the Cabela's exclusive 940 with the wood bolster. Benchmade's s90v is very distinct in appreance as it has an extremely toothy edge and a lot of vanadium content that you can actually see in the blade. It's also is a bit darker, more stonewashed color than most s90v like Spyderco does. For 14 bucks I'm actually really impressed that the axis lock even worked so well.
@@bahjinelson3986 yep the action on the axis lock was pretty good-looking actually. You hit the nail on the head I'd be surprised if it was even 8cr 100% it's not D2.. The funny thing is I believe the Cabela's Exclusive 940 is actually D-2
Hey you got an OK box and got a cheap $4.99 flashlight with a janky battery. I think you can fit a larger battery in that flashlight. It's good enough to be a second flashlight in your vehicle.
Really sad that legit companies are being ripped off like this and its even more pathetic that there are no legal enforcement actions that can be taken.
Well the real issue usually isn't direct since these clones sell cheap on Wish. The issue is when some jerk swaps them with a genuine one and returns it, or resells as genuine. That's literally theft.
@Nat Wru Copying the design is one thing, that would be called a clone. This shit is fully counterfeit, copying the design, the branding, the box, the logo, everything. Not trying to be *like* another company’s product, but pretending to actually *be* another company’s product. Microtech gets counterfeits sent in all the time for warranty work, from people thinking they have the real thing. Though how anyone with any common sense could buy a $500 USA made knife for $30 that ships from fucking China and think it’s going to be genuine is beyond me.
I don't mind paying more for quality, ethics and sustainability, but the EDC gear industry is a massive rip off anyway. Most of it is already made in china (how do you think they get the exact design, probs same factory) and sold for ludicrous prices to gullible people. I mean there's £/$100 tiny slip joints which STILL don't have a proper grind like skandi. For £15 or less the morakniv companion has a skandi grind and is made in Sweden.
@@jdisdetermined those semantics are made up. A clone is a 1 to 1 copy, same as a counterfeit. I hear people trying to make this argument over semantics distinguishing between a clone and a counterfeit, all the time in the high end vape community, and it's just false. If their intention is to make it look like the original enough that some people don't know, it's a counterfeit or clone; whatever you want to call it. This is regardless of whether they put a logo on it or not. The whole "they didn't put a logo on it, so they're not trying to pass it off as real," is nonsense. They copied the product, as close to 1:1 as they can at that price point.
China doesn't have trademark or copyright laws like we do. Brands have almost zero protection from copies. It can be almost identical except for one tiny change. You just have to have the superior product. People can always get the look but they still have to pay for that actually quality. Most Chinese don't care as much for quality as look though.
Rules of the universe: 1- You can have it fast, cheap, or quality. Only two. (if you're lucky) 2- If you are for EDC, you must pay for quality up front. 3- Junk WILL fail when you need it most.
I don’t think some of these things are pirated knock offs. Like the credit card holder. I see this in the cheap drone world. You can see the exact identical drone with different model numbers, different names, from different companies around the world. I believe what’s happening here is that these companies are selling or licensing their designs allowing other companies to sell them under their own brand.
You’ve got it the wrong way round. A huge variety of goods we pay western prices for are simply products that wish or alibaba sell but with a brand stamped on them. Don’t feel too bad, by the time a brand has paid for branding, importing, marketing, staff, refunds and everything else the profits are around 20 to 30 percent per item. All wish and alibaba do is provide the guy in the street direct access to the products from China that have been resold in the west for years.
Well I don’t fully disagree, some items are made with high quality materials and go through more quality testing to ensure that your item isn’t going to fall right apart on you. These items from wish are able to skirt the copy right laws completely as they simply don’t function the same ways here in the US. So they can brand far far, far more cheap material/ products as the real deal at heavy fractions mainly because it’s just that the items cost the fraction to produce
Only thing I found of value from Ali Express was a Steel Dive knockoff of the seiko "Williard" diver automatic for $70US. It's legit. Keeps perfect time. Uses an older version of a real Seiko movement which Seiko still uses on their $200 watches. Looks great, feels great. Probably not 200m waterproof however. Never tested that. But I can wear it in the shower n.p.
We bought a fake 3A vest just to shoot at for fun. .380 went in the front part & came out the back part. We couldn't even get to 9mm before it fell a part, but it was supposed to stop up to 44 Mag
@@ChrispyThings The true output of that light is about 1,000 lumens. The battery has about 1,900 MAH,,,,,, I test these all the time. You can get the same light off Ebay for about the same.. I didn’t mean genuine leather as in real leather. I meant it’s probably genuine leather meaning the lowest quality of leather, which is what genuine leather means.
I think the gear ( junk ) that you reviewed was good at one thing. That is letting people know of knockoffs is not quality. Now I don’t think you can legally give links to counterfeit items anyway and should you ….No. Now the wallet is did show a company can see a wallet for less if they wanted to. Because if a counterfeit company can stay in business so can the other company. Now most companies made the prototype than send it off for mass production and after the run sometimes the manufacturer keeps on making them. Just look at beretta 92 and Taurus pt92. And the list goes on.
Hey Evil, taurus didn't knock off the 92 FS see Beretta had a factory built in the 70s to make the model 92 for the Brasilian government. Well the contract ran out and the machines were outdated and worn so Beretta was going to scuttle them at sea but Forjas Taurus came up with money to buy the machines and tooling. Beretta made money and Taurus got the right to make a similar good quality 9mm pistol. They do resemble the Beretta however not any of the functioning parts are interchangeable that includes the magazines. A Beretta mag will not work in the PT92 and the opposite is true as well. So it is not a mere knockoff. The design is similar but it's just the overall anesthetic bro. Ever wonder why the Taurus revolvers got better in the late 90s to early 2000s? It's because Smith and Wesson had a partnership to have some castings made at the Taurus foundry and they had a good relationship so S and W taught Taurus how to improve upon their affordable yet decent quality pistols. You simply can't beat a Taurus G3 9mm for the price if you need a good dependable handgun in 9mm for under 300 usd when on sale. They are not as nice as Glock or Sig but they are dependable. Now let's talk about Springfield totally ripping off the HS2000 pistol from the Czechs from HS produkt. They ONLY ADDED THEIR LOGO OF CROSSED CANNONS AND CHARGE 600 INSTEAD OF 189 WHICH WAS THE original retail price of the "XD" line of pistols. They charge 2k for the battle rifle designed by HS produkt as well. It's a really nicely built bullpup 5.56mm rifle that I do believe takes AR type mags. The Czech army has really good quality weapons. Springfield even sells $800 1911 .45 acp caliber pistols that have Made in Brazil stamped on the inside of the slide. Do you want to guess what foundry those frames and slides come from when made in Brasil? Yes Taurus lol I'm not a tard I do use the correct non American spelling of Brasil normally. The other was a quote of the stamping I witnessed. Hope you enjoy as many guns as possible buddy. I read all this info from several gun publications so I figured I would pass along the info. Let's all stay locked and loaded to defend our rights and our am American freedoms.
Unfortunately my Benchmade OTF messes up like that with some frequency, to the point I don't trust it. For the Benchmade, you just pull the blade back out until it locks, then the automatic function works again.
I saw one company selling fake microtech and in the description it said blade material d2 but marked as elmax for better resale value. So not only are they selling fake microtech but they are suggesting people try and resale them as real ones.
I ordered some tank tops to work out in last year. I bought 5 just to see how it would go. So it’s been about 18 months. I still haven’t received them and when trying to get my money back you might as well forget it. If you have received what you ordered it’s only a matter of time before you are screwed. If you do get your stuff just remember you get what you pay for. Save your money and buy somewhere reputable.
OTFs aren't illegal in NY as long as you're carrying them for the purposes of hunting or fishing with a permit. Even still, you can own them, just not carry them regularly unless you're LE. Most knives are actually perfectly legal in NY now with a few exceptions after the "gravity knife" term was re-interpreted.
for the record, you are absolutely supposed to grab the blade of the otf and pull it out when it does that lol. it probably got jammed when you tried to push it in. if you pull the blade out, it resets the spring :)
You must’ve missed the part when I did exactly that. Not sure why I’m getting so many comments telling me to pull the blade out, when I tried to pull the blade out. Even with pliers. But thanks! 👍🏻
@@ChrispyThings Must've missed the part where I said you trying to push the blade in probably jammed it. I don't know why you're getting defensive over people with experience, trying to help you, with handling a kind of knife you've no experience with. But you're welcome! 👍
On the micro nock off I have one of both the real knife and the nock off they have a manufacturing defect in them as the back side of the blade that stays in the handle the deploying spring slips a lot it needs a stud on this part of the blade and is missing it but lf you get a stronger square ( rectangular spring to replace the standard round one the end of the spring can be placed over the blade stops that keep the blade from shooting completely out of the handle making it into a blade gun and will fix the problem. It does work but the knife is basically a stiletto style knife that is illegal in most states unless you are military ( active ) or law enforcement ( federal ) if in your possession and carrying said knife it is usually a felony class b or misdemeanor depending on state living in. But it can be displayed in a case enclosed as a collector peice.
That OTF didn't break. I have a $300 UTX-85 that misfired like that with my first 5-6 open and closes. Every OTF I've ever gotten was not ready out the box. Put half a drop of Rem Oil on both sides of the base of the blade, and it'll not have a single misfire for probably the next 1000 open and closes. Unless you're rapidly opening and closing it or swinging it while opening and closing. But regardless it's easy to reset the track, just pull up on the blade
You can return them to wish. That OTF knife I bought ones similar to that one like that. If I had the money to buy a real one I definitely would. That knife you only have to do is to is pull the blade back in it would click in.
Hey Otf knives do that it’s where they fail to go back in. All you have to do is flick the blade out or just pull it out and it will click back in. Even the most expensive Otf knives will do that
Last year I jumped on the with train just to test some common chinesim items. Some of it is just better off ordering thousand dollar bulk orders from Alibaba/express. I have seen brass pro shop spending that extra 2 bucks on custom embroidery on a 5 dollar bag. The original purchaser of my friend's bag paid 90 for cheapest mass produced mini backpack. The only things worth buying from is the actual sale items like flag patches and low inventory auctions
I'm sure someone else mentioned, that is a Benchmade 940-1 counterfeit. The Benchmade 940-1 has carbon fiber scales and the blade steel is S90V. Real Microtech OTFs can partially deploy too. The double action OTF blade glides freely from the locked in and out positions. Unless something actually breaks, just pull the blade fully forward to engage the front lock and it will work again. Things, such as springs and spring tabs sometimes break, on both real and counterfeit OTF knives.
They did mention that. The were much different looking scales. They never made scales that looked like that. Nowhere did I say that Benchmade never made CF scales 👍🏻
@@ChrispyThings The fake does differ in carbon fiber look, but you need a real one for reference to see. Also, the original fakes had darker standoffs, but later fakes fixed that. The 940 fakes also improved the Titanium back to look more real. BTW, I bought fake Benchmade Griptilians and Freeks for the G10 scales, which perfectly fit my real Benchmade 550s, 551s and Freeks. The original FRN scales of my Griptilians now are fit with the fake blades.

He also was looking at a bug out and not a 940 in the review
To fix an OTF deployment issue, I usually grab the blade and pull it all the way out or flick it with my wrist to make the blade come out all the way and that typically helps catch the deployment / retraction mechanism. It works with the benchmade infidel.
Yes. But did you see me try to take it out with pliers? That blade was not moving. Especially with a flick. 👍🏻
@@ChrispyThings I saw, I'm thinking maybe the bumping on the table before that may have jammed the action back with the blade causing them to both become stuck. Yes. I have a German made OTF $800 knife and even that one sometimes does this. It's an easy fix but if you slam the knife on something hard like he did, it may break the unit.

Most of their blades are d2 tool steel which isn't fancy, but takes a nice, long lasting work edge.

>really dull, won't sharpen
Most likely if blade is really a carbon steel it is a D2 tool steel. D2 tool steel is notoriously hard to sharpen, which is why most modern top brands don't use it. However if you sharpen it carefully with a set of whetstones it will stay sharp.

There are multiple tiers of fakes, you got the cheapest ones. Better cost 30-50 bucks, and they are (nearly) indistinguishable and even use high(er) quality steel or even carbon, if the original has it.
You said some of the fakes have better steel than the originals?
It's possible that some of those items are coming out of the same factory that makes the original.
Maybe the flashlight, but it's not a knockoff, just a cheap flashlight as far as I can tell. Microtech, Benchmade, and Dango are made in the USA.

“It’s not stealing and appropriating already-existing designs, it’s the Chinese way of manufacturing”

Yup 🙌🏾
I've had a legitimate version of that flashlight for years now, still going strong and have had absolutely no problems with it!
999billion lumens? That light should basically be a lightsaber 🤣🤣🤣
All you have to do on the fake Microtech is take it by the handle and sling out the blade and it will lock back out into place and then you can push down on the button to retract it back in the blade and then it will function properly again, even the real microtechs do that on occasion.
Didn’t work.
I burn my flashlights at work all the time so I'd definitely buy that flashlight. I've bought comparable ones at the store for like 20 bucks and they're gonna last me the same so lol

Didn’t work

It’s amazing how close these clone items get to the real thing. Obviously, you can tell the difference in quality with most of these items. The main thing is that people buy all this stuff, so they keep making it.
Because the ones making the clones are often the same factories making the real ones, all they do is remove logos.
@@MadmanDKDK not "often," occasionally.
@@littlejackalo5326
You would be surprised how often this happens.
@@SB-or5mj sometimes it's the same material but they skip QC and extra processes that refine the original product like polishing the CNC metals.

The Dango & Wish wallets are made in the same manufacturer. The only difference is the branding. You can do the same thing and put your branding on all sorts of items that others charge more for.
So your saying Dango wallets are made in China?
i sued to keep one of those flashlights as a worklight. Came in a two pack, one of them fell apart immediately, the other one is still going strong 50/50 quality control LOL. But hey for like 5$ a light, it makes it tolerable when you fuck up and forget your light in a drop ceiling or something

Alternatively it encourages the legit manufacturers to focus more on their build quality and fit and finish.
Lets not forget that people are people. Unless youre a racist or something, then forget I said anything.
Rules of the universe:
1- You can have it fast, cheap, or quality. Only two. (if you're lucky)
2- If you are for EDC, you must pay for quality up front.
Or it's just made in the same factory out of cheaper materials. Or just reverse engineered.

With this flashlight I now have the power of the sun in my hands(insert evil laugh) 900 billion huh, lol.
🤣
Unfortunately my Benchmade OTF messes up like that with some frequency, to the point I don't trust it. For the Benchmade, you just pull the blade back out until it locks, then the automatic function works again.
I tried that but didn’t work. Still need to open it up to see why it’s so jammed
My friend gave me that flashlight because he found it in his garage... Same box and everything!! Lol. Almost 2 years later is still going strong! 🤣🤣🤣
Nice
Dr. Evil called from 1999, he wants his "laser on the moon" back
🤣
I saw one company selling fake microtech and in the description it said blade material d2 but marked as elmax for better resale value. So not only are they selling fake microtech but they are suggesting people try and resale them as real ones.
Love my fake halo VI. The screws were loose but unlike a real halo, this one came with tools to service the knife.
If you can’t tell the difference between the 8$ and 80$ it makes you wonder why the Dango costs so much more (I know, overhead, etc…but still).
I have that exact flashlight. It retails here in the Philippines for less that 2$. Its fine for a 2$ fl inclusive of the battery and charger.
They even got the new 25 year box for the microtech. Out of my 10 microtech ive only got one of those.
Not sure the price now, but a few years back I was buying blades like those in Downtown Los Angeles for around 5 to 7 dollars.
I’m well aware of the laws here. Thanks though👍🏻
And the gravity knife re-evaluation was huge
The good news on the flashlight is that the 18650 power cell was worth the 10$
for the record, you are absolutely supposed to grab the blade of the otf and pull it out when it does that lol. it probably got jammed when you tried to push it in. if you pull the blade out, it resets the spring :)
The thread
That knife you only have to do is to is pull the blade back in it would click in.
the 2 cronograph buttons are probably connected to the small dials and work as a GMT 2, usually the case with these.
With otf knifes you have to grab the blade and pull it to re activate the spring if it miss fires like it did in the video
I know thanks 🙏
the question is, where was the original produced in the first place. It could be out of the same factory.
Hey Otf knives do that it’s where they fail to go back in. All you have to do is flick the blade out or just pull it out and it will click back in. Even the most expensive Otf knives will do that
I tried pulling it out in the video but it didn’t dislodge.
Works like a original microtech. I have a knockoff 940 and it's great.
As far as that 940, there is a model with carbon fiber handles. It has blue spacers just like that one. The model is the 940-1.
I got the same flashlight got mine on Amazon have had it for over a year been a good light
WISH AND AMAZON HAVE A LOT IN COMMON ,,,,, CHEAP JUNK
Amazon is crap for sure
