    Isn't the characters that look the same joke just a drawn out gag of the one that's already been done in Shaun of the dead when they walk down the alleyway

    • @henryglennon3864

      Except that was just a passing, largely visual gag, and didn't drag on.

    "Last time you were surprised by a movie with a trailer that didn't reveal anything"
    A constant grievance of mine. I loved how Wall-e's trailer never revealed that we'd leave earth, that there would be humans etc

    Movie was surprisingly enjoyable; might have benefited from low expectations! Unlike some other late sequels (Zoolander and Anchorman 2, looking at you) the chemistry’s still there and doesn’t feel forced and the filmmakers have some new ideas (although lean on stereotyping their characters a bit much). In terms of comedy sequels, more 22 Jump Street than Zoolander 2; not without its failings, but servicable.

    As with Deadpool 2, the movie exists. That's about what I can say about it. It neither adds nor does anything, really. The kind of movie you'll watch, forget about and never re-watch.

    So is the premise of this movie (where every character has their doppelgangers) basically a long drawn out version of that scene in Shaun of the Dead where the characters meet their doppelgangers briefly?

    For me, the original _Zombieland_ was great. Darned funny film.
    By contrast, _Double Tap_ is... pretty decent. It was fun catching up with the characters after all this time, and it had enough chuckles and laughs to make it worth a watch. It won't blow your mind, and it's never quite as refreshing as the original. But I had a good enough time with it.

      oskey o I don’t dispute that for a moment. My point was, in SOTD it was a quick gag, in this it appears to be (I haven’t yet seen it so could be mistaken) the entire premise of the movie. That’s not homage, a reference is homage. It just seemed odd that it hadn’t been referred to.

    • @ResevoirGod
      @ResevoirGod 4 роки тому

  • @arghjayem
    @arghjayem 5 років тому

    What I find really strange about Zombieland is that the first film didn’t start as a film....it started as a TV show, which sort of explains the narration of the rules and the “zombie kill of the week” bits. In a TV show you’d keep doing that, new ZKOTW each week and more rules to add to the list. Like a zombie sketch show but with the underlying story of the 4 main characters as a connecting thread. And throw in some cameos each week too to mix it up. In the context of the film that sketch show format isn’t great you need a decent narrative and the first Zombieland sort of had a one. It was Decent enough to hold the film together but doesn’t really do anything for the characters, none of them significantly change save their realising that sticking together is probably better than standing alone. And the sequel suffers from the same problem except worse because the loose narrative is basically the same. None of the characters really grow or change at all. It is just a sequel sketch show...
