I remember Ta'rrega's 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' being played by "Raul ", Esme Euvrard's son on his guitar on Sunday afternoons as she was a South African Radio presenter. That was about 66 years ago. This rendering is by far the best I have heard. So Bravo. Very well done and thank you.
this player is concentrating on the melody line and making it sing using tempo changes to bring out a haunting sadness, and understanding that tremolo is just a technique to carry a note indefinitely if needed. the thumb accompaniment is varied in volume to add definition and interest. I love this approach.
This is one of the best renditions of this piece I have ever heard. This is a song of heart and emotion and longing... and I felt this throughout his presentation. The fact that he chose to not play it at break-neck speed was a welcome change. The fact that he never once looked at his guitar neck or fingers is... astounding.
The very best of all renditions I have listened to. He is the only one to play one note at 3:24 exactly, all others are missing. I am in awe of this genius.
The best tremolo performance I have never eard..... It's not too fast. I' ts not too slow.... It's Just...... In my modest opinion, the recuerdos Is Song.... Not a march or dance or other things.... It Is just a Song....
I like Pablo Villega's rendition very much, but the author marked the tempo as Andante, which is faster than this. The idea behind the tremolo technique is to provide the illusion of a continuous sound, when you play it this slow you can hear every individual note. Having said that, everyone is free to play it at whatever speed they want. Pablo's speed is very enjoyable, that doesn't make faster renditions worse or wrong.
Technically flawless, but too much rubato! Enough to significantly alter the soul of the music with relentless slowing downs followed by accelerations. TThe rubato becomes boring periodic habit by the time we reach the end of the piece. My humble opinion. it is a matter of taste, not one of technique. Rubato now and then is OK, but it shouldn't turn into a compulsion.
I’m sure he knows better than you! Everybody is playing this song, it’s nice that someone is doing something unique with the song. And it’s easier to play fast machine gun tremolo than play like this!
He just plays the notes that Tarrega actually wrote, and this leads him to an interpretation that is a bit different from what some others have done with the piece.
Non sono chitarrista, non mi interessa niente il tremolo, ho fame di musica , grazie a questa interpretazione mi sento sazio.i piace la musica, ho bisogno di musica. Tremolo.......
Is it the rythme that Tarrega put down in the music sheet ? no NO no NO ! if you guys want to change recuerdos de la alhambra, do (if you pretend to be able to compose better than him ;) )! but don't say you're playing Tarrega please ! cause this is not Tarrega ! This is definitely not What tarrega compose !
I recently discovered this wonderful piece of music and I'm searching UA-cam to find versions (and recordings) that I like. What exactly do you mean with the 'Tarrega version'? Do you mean that this is an interpretation (as in a cover) because it is slower?
Hi. This is theme written by francisco Tarrega in 1896. And when you read his music shit and play it you will never have this result. Pablo Villega is probably a good player, but he doesn't respect Tarrega 's instructions. look for john Williams, Dvid russel , Manuel Barrueco or kim shung you will hear VERY good guitarist playing El Recuerdos de la Alhambra.
Thanks for your reply. Personally I like the slower versions (for example Ana Vidovic) because they're more melancholic. But I understand what you mean.
I'm with you on this. With almost every famous classical guitarist recording this piece, it' nice to hear something, even a little, different. Otherwise what's the point?

Ancora una stupenda, indimenticabile esecuzione del M Villegas , nella mia opinione il più grande interprete di questa bellissima composizione.

He uses other chords then normal is described and played by others.
He plays tremolo so slow yet so fast, and that’s why I find his performances so first-class.

예수님 존함으로 언제나 항상 영원히 십계명을 앙망하며 필승 Amen
This performer does not seem to understand the whole purpose of the tremolo. Have never seen something like this.
This musician has no idea what tremolo means!
Is there a must for a tremolo?
Are there rules to an interpretation of a musical masterpiece?
