1980 West Virginia AA State Championship Basketball Game

This was the seventh straight AA State Basketball Championship for Northfork High School. That tied the national mark for the most consecutive state championships. They would break that mark in 1981 by winning their eighth straight.

Raised in Northfork and was 7 years old at the time when we won this championship. These were exciting and prideful times that lasted for years. Even after the closure of this High School in 1984.

I was about to turn six at the time of the '80 championship game. We were probably at Keystone elementary together.

@@VPI97 Cool, I actually ended up going to Switchback because that's where my uncles went to school. My family moved from Northfork down the 52 a few miles to Elkhorn while I was in elementary. I do remember how Switchback, Keystone and Kimball used to battle in basketball though. Keystone's basketball coach was my neighbor, and his son was a good friend of mine.

@@Solo_01 I went to Switchback for kindergarten in 79-80, then Keystone for grades 1-3 until the family moved to Bluefield. I had cousins that lived in Powhatan & Elkhorn, so they went to Switchback in the same time period. I get nostalgic thinking about those towns and the area in general.

Thanks for uploading this game. I grew up in Bluefield a couple of towns next to Northfolk. Shout out to the Winfield team, they were nothing but classy the whole game.
