2017 Venus was something special. Most of the tourneys she played she lost to the eventual champion. It broke my heart when she lost that Wimbledon. Her Indian wells run that year was also something to see!! The WTA finals that year was also some of the best fighting I’ve seen from Venus whom I’ve watched since I was 10 years old. Incredible.
I remember once Anna Kournikova had to play her at Wimbledon, and she said, "There is not one single area of the court that she (Venus) doesn't cover"

I remember in 09-10 when V won Dubai and Acapulco back to back when she went down to Acapulco against all the clay counters and won I think almost all her matches there were 3 sets lol
I seem to remember her 2005 final with Davenport had some long rallies too
In the 90s her rally tolerance was incredible too.

Unlike Serena, Venus is NOT interested, and never has been, in long rallies.
Serena doesn't like them either, but she'll grind. Venus... only if she absolutely has to, especially later in her career.

And she probably lost 90% of these matches. Venus used to infuriate me because she lost matches she should have won because she was a complete idiot on court. She would hit balls right back to opponents and try and hit through them instead of hitting away from them. She was so stubborn and wouldn't upgrade her game or try anything new. If she did, like coming to net more, and was successful, she would just revert back. I used to be the biggest Venus fan but I couldn't mentally support her any longer, especially after losing soooo many important matches for no reason at all.
I bet she didnt lose 90% of those matches during the period they are showing. This was the period where she was at the top of the rankings
She lost 4 of those matches for sure ( against Zheng, Jankovic, Serena and Sharapova).
Venus has infuriated me countless of times over the years but come on, she's one of the all time greatest players. She was an incredible athlete at her best and one of the most capable players out there. She dominated most of the tour for years and reached 2 grand slam finals at the age of 37! She deserves more respects than what you've given her in this comment.
