  • This video shows how to adjust a chain on a 2011-2015 gsxr 750. This will also work the same on the 600, and 1000. And the concept stays the same on most bikes. Thanks for watching hope this helps. Please give me a like and sub! And check out my other vids!

Axle nut is 1-1/4". 32mm also works (100N°m/72.5lb-ft torque)
    Other 2 are 12mm & 10mm.
    For gsxrs before 2011, 36mm
Don't need center stand - side stand is fine

This works for gsxr k9 1000cc. Same specs, nut was 36mm. Thank you for the clear instructions!

You do not want to pull backward on the wheel when your tightening the axel bolt. You should be putting a rag in between the chain and sprocket so it pulls against the tension bolts.

It's a little quicker if you find the chains tightest point and do your measuring from there. Usually put that to the tightest within spec. Which will keep your Loosest point within as well. Good video thou.

Everyone with a gsxr remember the AXEL BOLT is TAPERED so needs an extra 3-5 mm from where you think is good..

Nice video. My buddies chain snapped this summer because he had a clip instead of a rivvet. It was crazy.. I was behind him and thought a snake was in the road lol but it was his chain. Oh yeah also just to keep in mind when the wheel is on the ground and you are sitting on the bike the chain will be tighter because of the weight/tension than when you check the chain on the rear stand since the wheel is off the ground.

Good straightforward video, but I'm slightly confused. Most instructions I've seen tell you to stick a screw driver in the rear sprocket between the chain and turn the wheel until is is at around 3:00 on the sprocket. The idea being that you want to push the wheel forward tight against the adjustment screws before tightening the axle nut. You instruction to pull back on the wheel while tightening the nut seems counter to this practice?

I don’t do either. I feel putting the drill bits/ screw driver I’m the chain at 3oclock cocks the rear wheel to one side. I’d take a Rubber mallet and tap the rear wheel forward while axle nut is half snug before full torque

chain must be adjusted with pilots weight on the bike
so you must recheck your adjustments
my get it's overtightened like hell

The factory chain slack adjustment is not done with rider onboard. Read the manual.

@@docmoto6477 also tightest point is when swingarm is fully horizontal, but you cant supress bike so low with your arms or body. Fellos working with mx bikes knows that trick- just unscrew progression and check it.

sold the Gsxr in this video so not sure on exact size of axle nut. I would look in your manual or online on a manual. gonna be metric and make sure it fits tight/snugg

    isn't that chain to tight???

    • @motomanic1745
      @motomanic1745  9 років тому +2

not according to my oem specs from my manual which say .8 - 1.2 inches... if you're nervous about it you can run yours on the loose side of your manuals specs. If you go outside your manufacturers recommend specs you increase the chance of chain slippage. thanks for watching

I would rather have it on the tighter side as My wifes chain came of her 2011 600 that was adjusted withen spec and ruined the engine case
