No wonder why 'Chhoti si baat' became such a memorable masterpiece 💞 it was considered as one of the best hindi romantic comedy film of the 1970s, a nostalgic favourite for its quirky take on pre-hypercongestion bombay. Arun's character can be related by many nice guy's even today that's the beauty of this movie it has simplicity & innocence with a real life story which connects directly to heart. Colonel singh mould him into a mature, confident young man through meticulously designed lesson plans, peppered with philosophy so he was very instrumental in making the love story of Arun & Prabha work 💕 otherwise Nagesh would have definitely won in the race.

"Chhoti si Baat" is my all time favourite movie of Basu da . He is such a creative genius. He showed simplicity , pure content on what he believes.
Although this film is a remake of the 1960 English film " School for Scoundrels", it has its own beauty. Asha Ji's voice in 'Janeman Janeman' & Lata Ji's Voice in 'Naa jaane kyun' song are just perfect.
Ashok Kumar & Ashrani are such tremendous actors. It is because of Nagesh's character & looser expression ( Ashrani) , Arun's Character ( Amol Palekar) has that charishma & heroism later . That No-Bindi look of Prava ( Vidya Sinha) added simplicity to the character . Also the Pallu of Saree draped over the shoulder makes a signature look for her .
Director is so specific about the characters , story , screenplay, length of Film , location , actors.
What a Film Basu Da ! A masterpiece of 1976 which is valid in 2024 also. "Old is Gold". A pure nostalgia of 70s Bombay . No Film has ever shown the simplicity of Bombay and it's asthetics like this film .
