Hi Rachel. Thank you so much for your lessons. I have been teaching English classes for years. We were missionaries in Colombia, S.A. for 25 years and have been teaching free classes of English. Your videos have been a great help to my students. Keep up the good work. Gene
I am 55 years old and I am learning English on my own. I am a retired police officer and I live in Venezuela, my economic condition is currently not very good, that is why it is difficult for me to pay for a course, thank God and your videos I have learned a lot and I continue to learn, I thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with So much enthusiasm, sorry for my mistakes.
You're teaching me a new english! Not new, but new for me. Thank you for share. I believe that I"ll never learn English, but I"ll go keeping on my way.
Hi Rachel! Great accent coaching! As an ESL speaker, I always notice these things when listening to my American friends and how they talk. I'm curious from a technical point of view. Was the conversation recorded on a phone, or did you use some sort of portable recorder to capture the audio? Keep up the amazing work and thank you for the videos!!!
Please make more Videos from Clips of 'Friends' with the detailed Linguistic Expressions postmortem with your Red pen over the black Typed Text. Trust me it is massive and huge
Hi ,tank you very much ,you are execelent ,by the way I have a request ,please teach to us that, how should we use going to and want ,and actually ,what is diffrense aboth one to another. Tank you
Hi! I think you're referring to future tense sentences. When talking about the future, "going to" is usually used for plans that are decided already. "Want" is used to express a desire to do something, but not necessarily a plan.
I have never been able to listen to ups and downs of English tones. It feels weird to listen to english language with accent and ups and downs of sounds in this language. The reason is my language don't have ups and downs of sounds. Like many syllabus are ups and downs in your English language.
Thanks for the lesson! I noticed a slight flap T in the very beginning of the vídeo, linking 'What' to 'did'. It was not mentioned in the IPA transcription. Is the flap T there?
For this "what did you", the "did" is linked to "you" with a reduction, so it sounds like "dju". It may be that you're hearing the D sound at the beginning of "did" here, since the T from "what" is dropped for smoothness. So it'll sound like [wʌ‿dʒu].
Hello Rachel ! How are you! I have a question, please. I've watched you in one of your old videos where you were explaining how to pronounce str cluster . You said that we pronounce the t sound in the middle as a stop t which is almost heard as d sound in this cluster. Is it correct what I've understood ? Next in this word "ostrich" should I say the /t / sound as ch since it's followed by r ?? Thank you so much in a advance.
It sounds like you understand the idea of how to make this cluster, yes! And yes, for "ostrich" you have the option to make the CH here. More info on the STR cluster here (maybe this is the video you saw?): ua-cam.com/video/jK7o49tFylM/v-deo.htmlsi=VhA2Kb7YwSp0DByl

Hi Reachel! Thanks for sharing this amazing class 👏. A doubt is around my mind: "Stoney slept in" is an idiom?
Stoney is my son’s name. SLEPT IN is a phrasal verb which means to sleep later than normal. 😊
