Very useful information, thank you. I've tried other ways of creating a custom Windows ISO file, which weren't foolproof or dependable, in the event of a system crash. I've been looking for a better way to do this, and your way seems the best.
Nice video m8, in case you wasn't aware you can get into the advanced recovery without a usb iso. Simply hold down left shift, then restart you're windows and it will boot directly there.
Thank you friend . truely amazing video . I was wondering for a long time how to do some of this stuff. definitely knowledge that can help in many situations.
Great video! Another Image capture command within Dism is the full flash update-(ffu) method. Instead of a wim file it captures an entire disk with all partitions however the image must be generalized.
If I recall correctly, sysprep resets the SID, which is key because if you were to skip that, all your installs would appear as the same computer on a network which could cause problems.
Very informative video mate.. Cheers. question , before imaging do we need windows ISO bootable usb or file to be attached to any partition . I think you have mention this but I might miss understanding.
This is really quite interesting, but I have a question about what was done with the image file that was made using this method. When making the image file is it making an actual image of the entire installation of windows plus all installed programs or is it only making an image file of the operating system?
Thanks Bri and am I right in thinking that you can do this with a lightweight version of windows that you've installed and still keep all the windows settings as well as your installed programs?
Just use NTLite, you can remove reinstalled stuff based on your config. You can update picking and choosing what parts of updates you want, they will mostly debloat the updates based on config, and if windows sneaks some back on by downloading some stuff back on separately from update then you can use the “remove reinstalls” feature again next boot and the image is exactly how you want it again even after an update. It’s still compatible with sfc and DISM.
Suppose i prep an installed Windows Installation, for deployment and i boot to oobe, can i enter the dism command to by pressing SHIFT F10 at the first OOBE screen?
Tried it, doesnt work. It will give me an error 32, because the system is in use. Sound legitimite :-) Thanks for the instruction video. Could save me a lot of time at work 🙂
Does this method include all your apps, like Steam, Adobe, etc. with settings? If so, should you do a fresh install of apps with no predefined paths or logins so that users on a different PC can use their own logins and paths?
DISM, or the Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool, is a command-line tool in Windows operating systems that is used for servicing Windows images, including installing, uninstalling, configuring, and updating Windows features, packages, and drivers
I got 2 errors with Sysprep, i had to uninstall some programms, notepad++ and Wget, and then it continued. so did the comand prompt part en restarted my pc, but then something strange happened, a part of windows install started en when i got to the desktop everything was a mess, some programs were gone, like Chrome, I uninstalled Edge, and gues what, Edge was gone, like it should but also Chrome was gone, so i had to install chrome via the command prompt. So i could do the rest with the iso file and rufus. Did al that and now i needed to reinstall everything because my windows is a mess right now. But guess what, started the install from the usb-stick, windows asked for the serial, wich i don't have but thats no problem because later it will find it online, But, after that question i got an error that he could'n find something and that was that. So now i need to clean up my messed up windows
This could be useful if your Windows broke, you could just install your custom iso and get back to business in half an hour. Very nice!
Or if you have NTlite you can literally just do host refresh or update then remove reinstalls in like 5 mins

Thanks again i will be waiting for the next video Deploy the image over the network :)
Fantastic video Brian 👏👏

Outstanding video, thank you!
Thank you friend . truely amazing video .
I was wondering for a long time how to do some of this stuff.

I saved this. Good information. I would like to see how you then install your image on multiple pcs on the network.

Thank you, Brian! 🙏🏼
perfect as always by a professional 👌 👏 😢
What you guy another good instructional tutorial.
wow,i can now put my apps and folders on the iso image, now i can downgrad without any problems !
liked it...! would love to see it going across the network
Can I safely assume this still works with 24H2?
Remember changes cant be user specific such as changing themes or wallpapers etc, also add /compress:maximum /checkintegrity to the commandline
Great way to create them. Just have to know the commands and your away :)
Very good staff l'm using it working good
Great video Brian, thank you.
Nice, I was not aware of this :)
If I recall correctly, sysprep resets the SID, which is key because if you were to skip that, all your installs would appear as the same computer on a network which could cause problems.
It also allows the image to work with on PCs that use different hardware/drivers. Otherwise, you'd end up with a straight clone of the OS.

I was wondering the same. What really happened here? What is in the install.wim?
Thanks Bri and am I right in thinking that you can do this with a lightweight version of windows that you've installed and still keep all the windows settings as well as your installed programs?
Excellent!!!
Yes indeed !!!

Now tried your way. This worked like a charm! Thanks!
Kindly make video with pre-installed software. I really want it.
Can you do this for windows seven operating system
I just downloaded Windows 10 and there was NO install.wim, but there was a install.ESD! Can you explain the difference? Cheers.
Wim is uncompressed and ESD is compressed formats
Well , I tried to create one… and it gives me an error about application not installed for all users or something.
Does this method include all your apps, like Steam, Adobe, etc. with settings?
If so, should you do a fresh install of apps with no predefined paths or logins so that users on a different PC can use their own logins and paths?
It should mention Windows 10 in the title too then.
There ard uch easier ways to do this. Use imaging software!

Deployment tool
@@mygamecomputer1691 well explained mate..
That’s just one thing he left out. Plus to me the explanation was for those who have already done it. IMHO.
I confess I had GROK explain it to me. Thanks for posting your video on how to do it.

CONFUSING LIKE HELL😂.
I will never pronounce "colon" the same way ever again.
but "y" this is a dying os just my .02 cents
when doing this the command prompt does not see the windows 11 system drive, the D drive shows folders like EFI and boot, any ideas?
