All vocals, guitar, brass and some synth and percussion is live here (yay), DoA started out as a live band and Pete said they used to rehearse every day in the early years, but the more dance oriented they became the more they belonged in clubs than concerts, where playback suited better seemingly. The songs from Youthquake onwards were not really written to be played live, but they pulled it off for the Youthquake tour. TV appearances for any band at this time were also usually playback at the TV studios request. I don’t know if DoA did any true live shows for Mad Bad onwards?
Sophisticated Boom Boom is Dead or Alive's best period. They turned into High Energy Dance Music but they stillr etained Edge and a Post Punk spirit. Such a GREAt performance, Pete never needed to mime at all in the late 80s as his voice was extraordinary live as were the band!
Wow, this takes me WAY back! Thanks for posting. Pete Burns really changed the world as far as being a pioneer of the whole punk "don't give a fuck what anyone says, I'm doing my thing my way!" spirit. I danced to DOA at the clubs & was going to see DK & Fear too. Had all the DOA albums Good times...miss my giant mohawk!
@niamh Baker And what’s your point? He lip synced for TV but like I said I’m pretty sure that was the TV shows choice not DOA’s. If you look at an actual LIVE performance like I said, from yours and gigs you will see the vast majority of the time it’s live.
@niamh Baker No you clearly told me to watch ‘all’ that video as if you were proving me wrong. You didn’t so what was the point then? You thought you’d just share a random DOA video with me? I don’t think.
@@jeframp3805 Wow you’re really dumb aren’t you? I said I don’t think it was their choice to lip sync. Look up LIVE performances filmed by the audience and not filmed for TV.
Aww...now this was my Pete. I LOVE him here! I so wish he could have seen and been happy with his own natural beauty. Because of that, we lost him way too soon. Plus, I believe he died still unhappy. It's all too sad. Loved him since day one!!
I so adore this performance, it sounds even better than fully live than on Sophisticated Boom Boom. It's interesting that Dead or ALive did fully live gigs and performances from the early Post Punk days through to Sophisticated Boom Boom and then on the Youthquake tour then from then on it was only live vocals on top of backing tapes. They were so tremendous live but not much video was documented from their actual live performances. The first actual so called life release was Rip It Up in japan and it's not live. Drats. I wish the Youthquake tour was filmed :-( I adore the female backing singers here who appeared on Sophisticated Book Boom and those synths, drums and horns. Pete sounds BRILLLLIANT *******
The lipstick he use in that performance is so beutiful😁 I love the hair and makeup so much👊😉 I forget to say also he was to beutiful in that time, more beutiful that the aberration that he ends up.😜 Love so much the old Pete Burns😄💞
To call him an "aberration"..is incredibly disrespectful. You obviously have no sense of style or individuality. So in the words of Pete Burns: *FVCK OFF!* 🖕😠🖕
a kids TV show and he is singing this. Its so inapropriate for a kids show! Thank goodness it wasn't the 90s , or he might be singing sex drive! Thats probably the only DOA I think that is worse. I remember he said he wouldn't sing it in the 1992 USA concerts because his dancers said it was too sleezy. I didn't think it was too bad, but listening to the lyrics, misty circles would have been a tad politer!
That voice was one of a kind. Gone way too soon.
He didn’t just sing the words; you got the whole atmosphere inside and around the words and you were enveloped by it.
One those rare video of Dead or Alive that are actual playing live.
And how good did they do it live! Stunning
the bass is for sure not live
@@dgmvs Its clearly with an instrumental backing track. Some intruments are live though.
They are ALWAYS better live
Pete looks really amazing in this. I miss him horribly.

4:15 that little smirk he makes when everyone ends the song perfectly on time lol
That was adorable. ❤
What a phenomenal treasure ..This was one of my favorites and I cant believe they are doing it live!!!!!!
We need this to be remastered in 4K please, for the love of all things holy and good
I love everything about this presentation.
R.I.P. 7 YRS today Oct.23rd. My gorgeous man.

Wish there were more of them live!
This is the way I want to remember him.
I just noticed they took out all the grunts from the one on record (most of them)
God bro, there’s gotta be more of these old live Dead or Alive videos out there somewhere
There is tens of performences from his early gothic era that were taped just lost media
How did Dead or Alive get on a kid's show? Dang, Britain was hardcore in the 80s!
Monika Radzaj do you know which show it was?
@@snice. The description says that this performance was on a show called "No. 73". It's a British 1980s children's TV show. Hope this helps!
Monika Radzaj thanks!
@@snice. No problem!
They were also in Blue Peter in 2003 lmao. I wonder why they agreed to go on these random silly kid shows 😭
now this is LIVE unlike most of their tv appearances
I don’t think it was their choice, all live shows I’ve seen recorded it’s definitely live.

Great live video! Is it supposed to be in someone's basement? LOVE it and Pete's natural and real look!
It was performed in a kids show called No.73.
