    Hi, I like your videos. Do you have another one with water tank and hot water Y plan, using evotouch and radiator valves for temperature sensors?

    HI. We have an Evohome that has worked well for more than 5 years. Only controls heating not water. Now it doesn't want to talk to the boiler. Wifi settings on screen checked; light on receiving unit in boiler room is green. Heating only works is we leave hot water switched on.

      Sounds like a problem beyond the evohome system. Get an installer to come and check your heating system as it sounds like the zone valve or 3 port valve has possibly failed.

      I am the installer! And the 2 port valves have not failed as they work OK for a while when rebound.

      @@GeorgexxxWalker as an installer you can call Resideo on 0300 130 1299 and they can technically support you with evohome issues. 9 times out of 10 evohome system issues are installation or binding issues, so when customers state its been working for 5 years and then its not, they don't usually consider it could be something else on the system causing the fault (for instance a motorised zone valve failure). Resideo should be able to support you properly with your investigations rather than some guy on UA-cam with 14 years of evohome experience.

    Hi Richard, I have two BRD91 one for DHW and CH, same setup as per video. The system has worked fine for the las 5 years however noticed recently that the DHW relay was not operating when DHW called. I can remember when I originally set the system up, this was someone of a pain however managed to get it to work correctly. I have reset both relays and tried to individually setup. The CH relay operates fine when either of the HR92's Rads call for, however when DHW is called for both relays operate. Spent about 4 hours resetting, trying various options without success. Note that the relays are not 300mm apart, I’m sure the original installation instruction stated minimum distance between of 70mm. Could this be the issue ? Is there a set order that relays need to be configured ? Appreciate your advice

      I've been installing and selling evohome since 2011 and 300mm minimum distance has been in the instructions from the start. It sounds like a system configuration issue, although BDR91's have known to fry themselves when installed too close to each other (think the frequency crystals get damaged). I would move them away from each other at least 300mm (more if you can get it) and contact the technical support team on 0300 130 1299 to make sure you are binding them correctly for your system.

    Hi Richard, thanks for the really helpful video. Re-inserting the batteries does trigger the boiler to heat up the water. Unfortunately, even after powering everything off and on again, the cylinder will not heat up as per the schedule unless I manually press the actuator button or re-insert the batteries again. The system was installed over 3 years ago and the problem started recently. Please can you help?

      If you have tried the basics, my advice would be to give Resideo a call on 0300 130 1299 (option 3) and one of their technical specialists can assist you.

    Hi Richard, Great Video, I've just gone live with EVOHome DHW in a Y plan set-up. All is working well except I keep getting COMMS FAULT HEATING VALVE ACTUATOR. All devices are at least 300mm apart and I have reset multiple times (re-bind system). Even though I get the fault everything still works anyway so it isn't causing an issue just an irritation - any ideas?

      Sounds like the heating BDR91 has been bound more than once somehow? If you contact Resideo technical support on 0300 130 1299 option 3 they should be able to help/investigate this for you.

    Hi Richard, Im trying to set up 3 BDR91 to one evo home controller. Each BDR91 is connected to a motorized valve, 1 for hot water 1 for upstairs and one for downstairs. Should this work?
    Can I have multiple BDR91's to my evo controller. I want to then introduce HR92's to control specific rads in each zone...... any thoughts ?

    • @MWPHS

      Unfortunately you cannot have HR91/HR92 zones in zone valve zones with evohome. Please refer to the evohome installation guide page 46 for details (PDF page 48 - thesmartthermostatshop.co.uk/product/honeywell-evohome-wi-fi-connected-value-pack-a/?attachment_id=15355&download_file=7uzxd523tng7x). Hi Richard,
    We'd work done in our upstairs bathroom which necessitated the bathroom radiator to come off.
    Afterwards, I'd lost binding on my zones except my downstairs zone. I rebound them. The system is turning on the valves appropriately and the thermostats are matching on both devices.
    However my upstairs zone radiators aren't coming on unless I put our dining room zone on. The dining room zone only operates the dining room zone and not upstairs zone so they aren't switched over.
    I can't work out whats wrong. Why is my upstairs zone only working if i have my dining room zone on 😢

    Hi Richard, I bought my EvoHome setup from you guys a couple of years ago and use it for my CH only. My boiler is a WB Greenstar Ri compact which is a modulating boiler. I have had it working fine as long as I set the EvoHome cycle rate to 12 an hour. Doing some research, I have realised I need an opentherm R8810 connected through a Honeywell Ri connection box to utilise my boilers modulating features. Do you stock these? Also, as I have twin 150ltr water tanks, I did not install the hot water kit. I have recently isolated 1 tank so we are only using 1 tank, heated mainly by electric immersion heater (as we have 36kw battery system and solar pv). I believe my system is a S type configuration. I have a separate timer for the HW heating via the boiler, in case I need to boost it or use gas if my batteries are low. Will it now be possible to use the Honeywell hot water kit. I’m in Nottingham and could do with the help of an electrician who understands this EvoHome system, if you know anyone in my area you could put me in touch with it would be a big help, or I will have to attempt it myself as I did with the original install. Thanks in advance! Clive.

    • @MWPHS
      @MWPHS  Рік тому +1

      Hi Clive, firstly thanks for buying the kit from us. The Worcester Ri is a pretty basic boiler and although it is a condensing boiler and modulates its fan output, it is not unfortunately an OpenTherm boiler. The best evohome can do with this system is on/off switch it. The set evohome cycle rate on a gas fired system should be set to no more than 6 cycles an hour, as gas boiler systems cannot handle being switched off and on 12 times an hour! 6 cycles an hour basically means each hour is divided into 10 minute demand windows and the evohome system then decides how much of the 10 minute window should be 'on' and how much of it should be 'off' based on the heating load of the property. This is the basis of TPI control (Google 'TPI control' to learn more). I hope that helps, but anything I have not been clear on, let me know. Thanks, Richard.

    • @clivelittlewood
      @clivelittlewood Рік тому

      Thanks Richard. I have reduced the cycle rate to 6 an hour, but I remember having problems in the early days and running at 12 an hour seemed to solve the problem. I’ll see how it goes tomorrow. Thanks for the info regarding open therm, that has saved me about £300.00 !! Cheers. 👍🏻👊🏼

    • @clivelittlewood
      @clivelittlewood Рік тому

      Just another question if you don’t mind, what would you set the ‘minimum run time’ to?

    • @clivelittlewood
      @clivelittlewood Рік тому

      I thought I would try it tonight. So I set it to 6 cycles per hour, but set like this the EvoHome just doesn’t fire the boiler. The green light on the BDR91 does not come on when I increase the set temperature on any radiator by say 3 degrees above the current thermostat temperature. I have waited 20 mins! Changing this cycle rate seems to lock out the system for a while, as after setting it back to 12 cycles per hour it still won’t fire up on demand. I know if I leave it overnight it will work fine tomorrow morning… this is why I have always run it at 12 cycles per hour with a minimum on time of 5 mins. The only way it will work as intended is when it’s set at 12 cycles per hour. I wonder if you have any ideas as to why this is won’t work when set to 6 cycles per hour?

    • @MWPHS
      @MWPHS  Рік тому +1

      @@clivelittlewood setting the cycle rate simply defines the technology the evohome is set to. In the case of a gas boiler it must be set to 6 cycles an hour and minimum on time of 1 minute. Oil boilers must be set to 3 cycles an hour and minimum runtime of 4 minutes. The 12 cycles an hour is only for electric heating boilers which can easily be switched on and off 12 times an hour without issue. If you are experiencing ’issues’ Resideo tech support is on 0300 130 1299 option 3 and they can investigate for you. But a gas boiler set to 12 cycles an hour will be running g very inefficiently, if not on the verge of damaging it.
