In another interview, Björn and Benny revealed that the two new songs were recorded in June 2017.

ABBA is forever!!! Of course return to studio it felt so natural...these four ARE naturally connected as happens rarely throughout human history... remarkable!!! Love always!!!

They have been my favorite group since 1979. I saw them in concert in Toronto, and I met their manager 'Stig Anderson'. I wanted to meet them, but they went back the hotel. My dream is to meet Agnetha, she has always been gorgeous to me, with her white-blonde hair, blue eyes, soaring voice and she is magical to me.

the best thing that could have happened to the POP music world. The kings and queens of the style are going to give a breath of fresh air, with disco back on business this the best choice in the best timing. I love ABBA, and this is form a real rocker.
I would of been perfectly happy with ABBA just making albums. They are that frigging talented. And only tour if they wanted too. But who cares, there's 2 new ABBA songs to look forward to.

It's going to be strange hearing new material from them after such a long gap as they are so affiliated with the 70's and 80's which was the best time for music, the Golden age, It may not feel quite the same as a lot of today's music is just so atrocious !! The name of the 2nd song is "Don't Shut Me Down"".

I do understand them. It will be a Best Of show and those songs are connected to then young and vital singers and musicians. Going on stage, being over 70 and singing their stuff like Summernight City wouldn´t fit at all.

i actually do not care much about the new songs, because it will be hard to convince with new songs if everything else is around for 40 years... but i am sooooo happy and pleased they are working together, they have fun together and it's not that absolut "never". Of course not touring... but maybe a new song added here and there, a tv appearance, promo pictures whatever... so thrilled to see them enjoying their success together again.

That was covered in this interview. They are going to have 3D projections, ie. avatars, of themselves as they appeared in their heyday in the 70s performing concerts of the hits and these new songs onstage.

Sometimes I think if ABBA was invited to perform in a Live aid one or two and they said No! Someone knows something about it?
2.5 years later and this pipe dream is still being teased. The hologram thing is absurd. How are they going to to force Bjorn's hologram to attempt to steal the spotlight from the holograms of frida and agnetha while pretending to sing verses he never sang in the studio. How they going to get Bjorn's hologram to prancce around and pretend to be singing in the most embaarrassing outfits in music history. How they going to replicate Bjorn's space guitar that was so lame it caused Ace Frehley who played the spaceman from KISS to say: "Wow, that's embarrassing".
If and when, the ABBA Holograms get going they will look as ABBA did in 1979. So they will not be looking as 'weird', as they did in 1973 and 1974. So, the idea, that they The Holograms will look stupid, is really irrelevant. Even if The ABBAtars, (the ABBA Holograms), never do any 'Shows', ABBA will still use them in Promo Videos, for their New Songs - however many of those we get. ABBA have Zero intentions of ever Touring again, or even doing just 1 Concert again. Nor do they intend to appear in any Promo Videos for the New Songs. It will all be done by The ABBAtars, who will Mime to the voices of the Real ABBA...

Uh...Not MIGHT. I think you missed something. It was clearly stated when it was made public that it's a hologram tour...ie. 3D projections onstage of ABBA as they looked in their heyday...ie. late 70s. In other words, no they aren't actually going to physically go out on tour. Pretty sure this is to coincide with the release of Mamma Mia 2...but, they wrote and recorded 2 new songs never heard before, so that will be nice to hear. They are at least recording again!
