In Portland, we have a book store with books everywhere, and it's multiple levels. It's called powers books. But it doesn't look as cool, or cozy as this build!
This is incredible! In terms of gameplay: you have helpfully put this right on the exact lot where members of the university secret society, The Order of Enchantment, spawn to do their rituals at the nearby fairy circle! I would absolutely make your bookshop keeper a member of the order, and maybe even convert one of the apartments to a secret clubroom where they can grow or bake gifts for the sprites. Amazing!
Ohhhh is that so? How perfect! The order didn’t show up in my playtesting so maybe they only do it once a week? However this is a great idea. I could add a secret basement catacombs entry to it. Making it look like they use a secret tunnel system around Britechester.
@@Simproved That would be amazing! And they probably haven't shown up in your playtesting because they don't spawn at all unless you already have a sim who is in the secret society. But once you do, I think this will tie in beautifully.
Gosh when you said this I thought to myself dang Im not the only old Geezer still building my dream homes in the sims after all these years. I was pregnant with my 1st born who is a junior in college now!!!
I play Sims since Sims 1. I definitely don't consider myself young and trendy. But Sims is my happy place. I'll probably still play it when I'm 80 and then still forget the trash cans or free counter.
This build is right up my alley. I love dark academia meets gaslamp fantasy strongly informed by a very whimsical witchy sensibility. Plus, it's just plain beautiful, with all the wood tones, warm light, and greenery. Thank you so much for making it available to play in!
I've never heard of the term gaslamp fantasy before. I will have to check it out. I've planned this world as my next save file project. So I'll hope to add more and more builds like these in Britechester and then maybe me and everyone commenting can come up with people and stories. So we create our own little mid-fantasy magical academia save file to play in.
stunning 😍 I really love seeing builds that are not only pretty but also created to be used for gameplay. would really enjoy seeing and hearing more from your personal save files ❤
I will definitely expand this world a bit for my gameplay. The library is going to be next perhaps, since I want my sim to browse for books there. Or the library gets turned into big botanical garden greenhouse with a cafe. Not so sure yet.
The Saleabration retail system (a mod by Ravasheen) would work well with this, I think. Just don't try to price any of the debug books, because the mod won't work for those, but any of the books that can be purchased in Build/Buy should be usable with the mod, and even the debug books would probably be fine as filler decor as long as you don't try to assign any pricing to them. Saleabration will also allow your bookstore owner to live in the apartment on the premises, which is great since I think the built-in Retail system that comes with Get to Work won't let you live on a Retail lot. The only catch with the mod is that opening the bookstore counts as an event, and the owner has to be on the lot for the entire event for the mod to work, so if your bookstore owner needs to leave the lot for any reason, they will need to close the store first. (They don't have to be in the shop itself for it to stay open, just on the lot, so they can go to their apartment to meet other needs like sleep, eat, or go to the toilet.) But the player would want to close the store on occasion anyway, since that's when you collect the income you made during the work day. So it would make sense for your shop owner to open the shop in the morning and then close it later that evening before doing anything they might want to do off the lot.
My brain cannot comprehend how talented you are! My favorite Sims Content Creator! Even though I don’t have a lot of the packs, I still enjoy just watching your videos and getting inspired to build as well. Thank you!
In my opinion you actually don't need a lot of packs for beautiful builds. A lot can be done with debug and tool mod or even cc of course. I definitely get inspired through other builds I see on the gallery or on SM. Always happy to share my builds and stories. :)
@@Simproved I agree. I see how crazy good builds some people can make with just the base game. I sometimes challenge myself to build with basegame only or with 1-2 packs. For example, I built a sushi restaurant in Mt. Komorebi using Dine Out, Snowy Escape and Base Game.
Oh I wish my husband would be into this stuff too. But he is happy when I'm happy, so I can have at least lots of plants around the apartment here. Happy you guys like it!

I loved! It turned out beautiful, it reminds me a lot of those magical bookstores that appear in some movies, it conveyed the idea very well, I loved it
Stunning build, thanks for sharing! As for money-making ideas the most immersive experience would be with mods. There is the "Live in Business" by littlemssam or " Saleabration retail system" by ravesheen. Both would allow your sim to live in the store and have roommates. You can set build/buy books for sale OR write your own books. Always keep the original and use the duplicated copies to sell. You can do that with the shop owner and/or the other writers that might be living in the building (as long as they are in the household). If you don't want to go with mods, I'd suggest writing books, creating copies and selling them for a mark up on a selling table inside the shop.
Thank you sooo very much for the detailed explanation. I'm truly a gameplay noob and wouldn't even know how to start. I'll definitely check out those mods. I personally hope to hire a Sim to keep the shop for me while I do exploring finding articfacts etc. Maybe there is also a mod that just gives me like 500 simoleons per sim as a rent for main household funds or so. That would be great too. I'll look into it. But first I'ma build some more lots for worldbuilding. I think this is a fun project. I'm in my magical academia phase apparently. Taking you all with me. :)))
@@Simproved You are very welcome :) There are mods out there for roommates, but if you have Discover University, you already have a roommate system that does exactly what you said you wanted hehe I've never tried letting 1 sim open the live in store while I play off lot with another household memeber, so I'm not sure if your desire can be achieved. For instance, I don't know if sales would keep happening in the background while you're actively off the lot. Could be a nice change of pace hehe If you try this, lemme know cuz I'm curious too :D
