    Such a grand looking old lady. Even in such a sad sorry state, she still stands proudly on her own wheels, rolling down the rails with a quiet grace all her own. At the part where the camera pointed to her front as she rolled down the rails, the clanking of her rods made it sound as though she was steaming on down the track. Whether she was sent to her final resting place or to a better place, this was both sad and beautiful to watch. I hope that some if not all of those iron horses were saved and restored. Such mighty engines to behold, even in their decrepit states.

    46.03 is a Polish loco built in 1931, 46.13 is German. Huge beasts, 2-12-4T in Whyte notation, surely for heavy freight trains

    I think the video shows the transport of the powerful 2-cylinder, 150 ton, 1F2 Tank locomotive to Sofia for restoration. The 46.03 has been built in 1931 in Poland and with 12 sisters in service until around 1975. Since 2015 she is under steam. Around 13:00 we also see her younger sister 46.13 being pulled out of the shed. She is also preserved, one of the 8 3-cylinder machines built by BMAG in Germany during the war.

    At 8:30-9:15 you see a 2-10-0 tender engine which looks similar to German types. Around 15:00 you see a 2-12-4T, i.e. tank engine, which I guess is their 1-6-2 type (just as in France a 2-3-1 is a 4-6-2 Pacific). In service that should have been one powerful heavy shunter. Behind it is an 0-12-0T.

    • @rogerwhittle2078
      @rogerwhittle2078 3 роки тому +2

      I think they were all 2-12-4T (the very first was, as someone pointed out, a classic ex RB Class 52 2-10-0 tender engine.) They did all look in exceptional condition, bearing in mind they are at leas seventy years old. However, the real limitation is not the running gear and the motion, its the boiler. They were probably worked to death before being shut away in that shed, so the boilers may well be made of ferrous oxide lace.

    2-12-4. I didn't think such a wheel arrangement existed & actually it is a 2-12-4T, because there are side tanks for the water. This must have been one hell of a slow speed hauler. For a mine, steel works or in a freight yard?

    A 4-12-2 is uncommon, evan an 0-10-0 is rare, There is only one 0-10-0 i the United states and also there is only one 0-10-2 union class locomotive left, its painted with two different railway paint schemes, one side says Duluth Missabe & Iron range the other side says Norfolk and western!
