    Important thing I forgot to mention --- if you find that your gauntlets are scaled perfectly to you and if you reduce the size any further that you can't fit your hand through, you can always slice your file so its on a sort of hinge OR you can pad your gauntlets (or other armor) with something like upholstery foam or eva foam inside to keep them from spinning around your wrist. I did this with my Bo-Katan gaunlets!

      thankyou again for a giving us am amazingly detailed and helpful video. would love to see a video where you detail how you made the hinged gauntlets.

    Something I meant to mention on a couple of your videos re sanding… I often use a product from Dap called “Plastic Wood” wood filler and/or “DryDex” spackling to fill in then sand afterward. The DryDex works great to fill those nuance areas and if dries and you’re not happy with it, water it down a little to either remove or make a slurry to spread further. Both of them are much much cheaper then Bondo, and there isn’t a harsh odor. Oh and for some other smaller parts, finger nail files work great and are cheap. Thanks again for the detailed videos!

      huh! I've actually never heard of that product but will have to give that a go next time I'm out. I'm always lookin for bondo alternatives because apparently it's hard to find outside of the U.S. and folks are always asking me haha

    I am SO thankful to you for posting your videos and that I stumbled upon you/them! I love how you actually show “all” the steps per se from start to end. Getting into all of this one thing. Getting to a point where you can use Meshmixer and others to effectively manipulate the prints is another. Definitely my “go to” for how-to and reference. Thank you again!

    Iknowits been over a year that you did this video but I wanted to thank you, it's been a big help to me in understanding a simple way to get the 3d prints done well. Also I wanted to let you know , the proper way to say it is to pronounce the plural of 'axis' is 'Axees' just wanting you to know, again , thank you and I wish you the best.

    Hi there when I try to measure the distance between on mesh mixer, the red line is really small and won't extend, any clue on how to fix this?

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 роки тому +2

      I would try one of the other options under "type" and see if it allows you to play with it and drag it around

    This was a brilliant tutorial I wish I had seen a year ago. I bought the same file and it was an epic fail. I did not measure and scale properly so it was either child sized or I looked like a Lego Mandalorian. I am currently printing some Great Ape Studio files that look are going to work at 100% I just need to figure out how to connect them. I loved the sanding and painting part the best. Old tomato cages? You're a genius! This is the way.

    Another great video. I always hate sanding very detailed pieces as well. They look great when they come off the print bed but you always know they are going to be a pain to sand haha should really get my airbrush out. I have one but haven't used it yet as I really don't like the idea of the clean up haha

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I hate sanding detailed pieces like this with a passion lol. And I'm right there with you with the airbrush! I didn't use one for a long time because the clean-up scared me as well, and when I eventually did I still managed to brick an airbrush not cleaning it properly with lacquer thinner. Took me messing up my first airbrush to finally get into the routine of pulling it apart after each use, lol. It really doesn't end up taking TOO too much of my time, usually 5 minutes tops, but man did I struggle getting into that routine

      @AstrocyteCosplay 2 роки тому +1

      @@vaultfox oh that's great to know regarding the airbrush and it not taking too long to clean. Maybe I need to stop being a intimated and actually give it a go. 🙂

    Hello, what nozzle size and layer thickness do you usually use? I can't seem to find you mentioning it anywhere. Thankyou!

    • @vaultfox

      I just use the stock .4mm nozzle and typically print at .28mm (all of Mando was printing at that height)

    Why after scaling in meshmixer do things change when I export to Cura? I have a tronxy x5sa with marlin firmware. Can I just plug my laptop into my printer and use meshmixer to print instead of exporting to cura?

    • @vaultfox
      @vaultfox  2 роки тому

      Meshmixer isn't (to my limited knowledge at least) a slicer so it can't prep things for printing. That's why I export the STL's and open them in CURA to tune settings and get it on the bed correctly.

      @@vaultfox when I scaled the right gauntlet to my son's forearm in meshmixer. The wrist opening is at 2 3/4". The elbow opening 3 1/2". Total length 9". When I export to Cura. Everything changes. The wrist is at 1" the elbow 1 1/2".If I scale in cura after meshmixer the wrist effects the elbow and vise versa. Am I doing something wrong from Meshmixer to Cura?
