I had cateract surgery within the last 2 months. Scared to death at first. Right eye was done first...didn't feel a thing and it was over in 15-20 min. I was amazed at the result! I was excited and could hardly wait to get the other eye done 2 weeks later. It's the word "surgery" that's scary. The procedure it's self is amazing!! If you need it, get it done. You'll be so, so glad you did.
Just had my right eye done a couple of hours ago. Are you about to have the op? Don't even hesitate, my procedure was absolutely pain free, they did say I might feel some pressure as he worked on the eye but honestly, I didn't even feel that. Eight minutes later-job done! The results, even this soon after are amazing. Pure white light now instead of yellowish, no glasses needed at the moment. I know its early days but it certainly looks promising! Get it done, you wont regret it.
'm so happy a nurse asked the patient if he would like someone to hold his hand during the surgery. It is so good that some offices recognize that adults can be afraid, not just children. Inappropriate replies will have their accounts blocked.

I had chateracts removed from both of my eyes by the beautiful Dr Mahomed at the Yorkshire Clinic. I felt relaxed and had no pain whatsoever during Dr Mahomed's treatment. When the anaesthetic wore off after the operations, I still felt no pain at all. Within hours I could see better than I had my whole life. I was born myopic so I was and still am amazed at what this op does for vision. 3 years later, I can still see so clearly and wish that I'd had it done years sooner. No pain at all, not even any discomfort. All good stuff.

Getting surgery tomorrow in the States, comforting to see so many positive comments. Just an observation but it’s odd to see the nurse NOT wearing gloves lol Wish I had extra money to fix my vision as well. 3000$ per eye here so 6,000 but happy to be able to see again even with glasses
Been there done that, so it brought back some memories. My surgeon did both eyes o the same day, ( this was a London Hospital) but for the rest, it's a standard procedure. The anaesthetic drops do sting a bit,but that's soon over, after that, you feel literally NOTHING. No-one need EVER be afraid of cataract surgery. There really is nothing to it.
You’re not supposed to have them both done at the same time! There is a small risk of losing your vision that is why they do one first then the second eye two weeks later. I wouldn’t of used your Dr for that reason alone .
@@britishgal1808-Sue If you're considered to be low risk some surgeons will do both eyes at the same time. Personally, I would choose to have one eye done at a time.
I had both done at Burton, the first one was brilliant, no pain or anything. The second one was done by a different surgeon and was a b****y nightmare from start to finish. If I could I would have got up and walked out. Thank God it wasn't my first one otherwise I would never have gone back.
Thank you for the video! I am having my left eye done next week and the right the week after, in the USA. There were a ton of xtra cost options, but I stayed with the standard procedure (covered by insurance and medicare 80-20, while the optional lenses are not) Out of pocket should be about $1000 USD. Like the others...scared to death..but looking forward to better vision.
Just found out today after my eye examination that I have a cataract in my right eye that should be removed and the start of a cataract in my left eye. Will be seeing the surgeon next week and hopefully get this procedure done ASAP. This video gave me somewhat of an idea what to expect.
Bob Riesterer I just had cataract surgery on my two eyes. Two weeks apart. I feel like a new person before that I thought I needed higher watt light bulbs ha. Also everything outside is so nice and bright. I’m in USA. Had a good doctor. Good luck to you Bob. It will be well worth it

I had both eyes done, at different times, the end of 2019. If you are getting it done in the US, it is much better than this video. You will get and IV that will relax you. No pellet in the eye, either. Just drops. And, my surgery only took 10 minutes on the second one and about 12 for the first. Went home and took it easy and 2 days off work. Like my mom said when she had it done, nothing to it. Oh, and the improvement in your vision will be amazing!

It is really amazing to see how the medical science has evolved to such an extent that Cataract-related vision loss is reversible with cataract surgery.
This is out of date technology because God's mercy nano-grade eye drops can cure cataracts without IOL (intraocular lens) surgery. IOL surgery is too risky to diabetic cataracts.
@@urbanimage You make bullshit statement. Nano-grade eye drops has cured how many cataract patients? Western medication can't do anything for diabetic cataracts. Chinese Academy of Science dares not to criticize my discovery of nano-grade eye drops. Do you know up to now how many cataract patients are cured by nano-grade eye drops. If AGEs (advanced glycation end products) can't be cleared away from crystalline, it's impossible to cure cataract. Because Maillard reaction, AGEs cross-link with ECM (extracellular matrix) by covalently bonding. It's forever for western medication can clear away AGEs. If you're innocent, please don't make bullshit statement here. I can tell you that ischemic as well as hemorrhagic (brainstem as well as SAH - subarachnoid hemorrhage) stroke patients can be cured by God's mercy nano-medication. My statement is evidence-based. @@urbanimage During past five decades, U.S.A., Russia, France, and Germany have spent multi-billion US dollars for nano-medication unsuccessfully. Nano-medication is based on: God formed man out of dirt from the ground and Allah (God) created man from an extract of clay Nano-medication is the only Regenerative Medicine. Stem cell therapy is to help those endogenous adult stem cells (ASCs) to clear away those inhibitory molecules (all polar molecules) so that its regenerative potentials can be triggered for regeneration. You should stuy harder and don't make wrong statement. Ten Chinese Ophthalmology professors of cataract declared that there's no eye drops able to cure cataract. I'm in the same boat as this dear old guy. I've blown past 77yrs and all is well with my eyes except cataracts. It's got to point where I'm a borderline legal driver. My dear wife can't drive so it is a matter of urgency I get my cataract surgery very soon or our independent lives as old farts will come to an end. No more shopping together each week or so, no drives in the country or visiting friends. It's tough slowly realizing your site is going. You find you see halos around shopping mall lights, street lights, at night your vision becomes blurry & you can't read road signs until you are on top of them. Time is a cruel mistress! She deserts us all in our time of need.
Gary T DO DO DO,get it done like the day B4 yesterday. It's quite literally a piece of cake. Just a tiny bit of stinging for the anaesthetic drops and that's IT, that's literally ALL you'll feel, and just wait till you get to go home, that day. Ok just for that 1st day or two you'll not be allowed to drive, but what you WILL find is that it'll look as if someone from the municipal council offices had gone round with a truck with a hose and sprayed pure white paint over every building and street in your town. You'll be amazed how easily you'll see everything. There'll be no pain, it's just indescribable. The ONLY nuisance is that you have to put a series of eye drops in upto 4 times a day, which IS a bit of a bore. But over ALL, it'll be the best decision and thing you did, in your life, and your car trips to town, seaside countryside will be assured forever. I put my surgery off as I was too terrified to get it done initially, but in the end, I had ABSOLUTELY no choice as I went legally blind. I had to be escorted to cross a Rd, and on another occasion I nearly got run over by a car, cos I couldn't see it coming. Luckily someone pulled me back JUST in . But that was the final straw. It was then that I decided to swallow myself whole, took a deep breath and went for it. Needless to say, I'm now calling myself every type of idiot and other names, because I didn't do it sooner. So! You GO Gary, snd many more years of fun, car journeys and what have you. The whole job in anycase only takes 10 to 20 minutes, snd it's the best 20 minutes you'll EVER spend in your life, and I can virtually GUARANTEE that your wife will agree with me when she sees how brilliant you'll be afterwards. A word from a YOUNG 75 year old. I seem to have caused a stir at my assigned eye clinic. Got new glasses 4 years ago but 2 years later I couldn’t see vary well with the glasses on and they gave me another eye exam, the doctor said well you need a glasses, the ones you have are to strong for your eyesight now. Next he said your cataracts seem to be smaller then 2 years ago, he said you are improving, can you think of why? I’m really working on my health dr. I’ve corrected my sugar level (not #2 anymore) I think that is healthy for eyes. There’s more but I fast for Autophagy 2 days or 3 days depending on how I’m feeling. The doctor had already pulled over a chair 🪑 to talk with me. He said he was going to research AUTOPHAGY. “I’m no Doctor” but I’m healthy. Good luck.

Good to see how Indian doctors behave and work in so professional way outside. In India they would have done surgery in the wrong eye and can walk freely like nothing happened. In India we say it like you are lucky if you don't get to see any Indian hospital or doctors.
I developed a cataract in the left eye from long term use of predforte eyedrops because I get Uveitis from having Ankylosing Spondylitis, I go in April to get it removed but I won't deny I feel sick in the stomach if I think about it, I shouldn't, I've had a bypass and two heart attacks and got through those, I guess I'm just sick and tired of having to be in the hospital for some sort of procedure or operation. I hope I'm ok on the day.
I'm going to a different surgeon and live in the u.s.a ,but i figure it will be very similiar to how it will be for me.I'm pretty sure I will need something to calm my nerves.I don't think i will be as brave as that man.I have been pretty nearsighted since i was 9 and the cataracts have made a bad situation worse.I am looking forward to getting rid of them.any improvement in my vision will be welcome. Thanks for posting this.

A greatly re-assuring video for someone undergoing expensive private treatment in the UK. It is a disgraceful you have to be almost blind with a severely affected lifestyle before you are put on a waiting list to receive free National Health Service treatment, I imagined being strapped into something like a dentists chair being unable to swallow or clear throat. Is there an option of having a happy pill to make you relax completely :)
Yes. In Canada, you can ask for adavan. ( don’t know if I spelled it correctly. ) I just had left one done June1st. Second one done Is being done July 6th. ❤️🇨🇦
@@lizb853 Agree with you Liz - my surgical team at the Nuffield, Chichester helped me relax completely. Cataracts now removed from both eyes. The only pain was from the over enthusiastic penetration of my narrow nasal passages for the Covid swabs. Wonderful to have near perfect vision without the need for spectacles but some time I felt something like an important item of clothing is missing!
Vic S. I fully agree with you,as I too, put it off for several years, till I was declared legally blind. I had to be escorted to cross the Rd, and nearly got run over by a car as I couldn't see it coming, someone JUST pulled me back in the brink of time, and the surgeon at my initial consultation, said, " how the heck have you been as bad as this. I can't even see the back of your eyes because the cataracts are so bad. In plain English, the roof came off. I was declared legally blind for a few weeks till I was taken in 10 days later. I nearly lost a stone in weight with nerves, which proved to be completely Unecessary.. As I said, except for a bit of discomfort during the local anaesthesia, I felt NOTHING. The NHS ARE a disgrace with their 100 mile long waiting lists, but when they finally DO get round to doing the job. It's really worthwhile.
I'll need this surgery soon, am a 67 year old male living in USA. I have to confess about being nervous about cataract surgery, even considering the success rate for it.
Paul There's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be nervous about. Apart from a few moments (.about 10 seconds) of a slightly stinging sensation of the anaesthetic eye drops, you will feel precisely NOTHING AT ALL. The only bore is having to put drops in your eye for 4 to 6 weeks post op about 3 to 4 times a day. Apart from THAT, you're vision will be as bright snd clear as on a hot summers day, stsrting on the journey home out of the clinic or hospital. You're in for the best time of your life. The op only takes 10 to 20 minutes anyway, and please believe me when I tell you that this'll be the BEST20 minutes you'll ever spend in your life. You'll only wonder WHY the heck, you didn't get it done sooner.
BTW I had both eyes done in june of last year, and so I'm simply speaking from my own experience. I was terrified of the idea of anyone touching my eyes, but in the end I was legally blind, had to be escorted over the Rd,and nearly got run over by a car because I didn't see it coming. Someone pulled me back in the nick of time. That was the final straw, socI swallowed myself whole and went to the surgeon, who said, " how on earth have you struggled with this so long. I can't even see the back of your eyes as the cataracts have completely grown over them. In plain English, the roof came off. Now as,I just said to you. I'm kicking myself for not getting it done much sooner. Nowadays I joke that I'd get that operation done EVERY DAY of the week, cept, that the poor old surgeon'd get mighty bored of having the same patient on his table every day of the week for the same op. You GO Paul. It'll be FINE, I can assure you.
@@lizb853 Thanks for your information and reassurance, Liz. I have two issues currently, I have pre-cataracts in both eyes-hence my desire to get that fixed. But, about a year and a half ago I had a 'floater' develop in my left eye and it's situated right behind my Iris. My opthalmologist told me this translucent tissue floater came off the retina at the junction where it meets the optic nerve. Apparently this tissue is part of a jell-like patch which sits at the back of the retina and, in older folks, small chunks can beak off and become 'floaters'. Normally they either dissolve or your brain gets used to them and ignores them, but in my case the size of the floater and it's location makes it more of an impediment to my vision. At any rate, I was given a list of retinal surgeons to consult when I get a chance-there is a surgical as well as a laser treatment for handling these floaters and I should probably get that attended to before the cataract surgery. Been waiting for the pandemic to diminish so I can set up some doctor visits, we're just about at that point. Thanks again for your information, much appreciated!
@@pimpompoom93726 I'm sorry to hear of this complication, but there is an operation called a vitriectomy, which as hss already been explained to you IS a laser procedure which deals very effectively with seriously troublesome floaters. After THAT as I have already said, the cataracts job is a piece of cake. All the very best of luck to you, with both procedures. I hope it all goes smoothly, successfully and well for you.
Santiso. There's nothing to be claustrophobic about, cos unlike in a big operating theatre where they cover you right up, and putvan oxygen mask over your face. For THIS job, which only at worst takes 10 to 20 mins, amongst other things, your not going to be smothered, and infact thru put a fan or some sort of air condition unit near you, so it feels as i you're getting natural fresh air. It'll be SO much more comfortable than you imagine. You'll be given anaesthetic eye drops which numb the eye COMPLETELY, and you won't feel a THING. So don't be afraid. There's none of the mumbo jumbo of a major operation, infact, don't be surprised if the surgeon starts chatting to you about halfway through the proceedings. Good luck, and you will find that this is the BEST thing since sliced bread, that you'll ever have done in your life. You GO Santiso, you'll be ABSOLUTELY FINE.

Itzz Bu DON'T be afraid, you WON'T FEEL a SINGLE THING, cept a tiny bit of stinging when they put the anesthetic drops in to numb the eye and that lasts all of 10 SECONDS. That's all. I'd willingly have that cataracts job done every day of the week without giving it a single thought. As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY BORE with it is putting in the eyedrops 4 times a day as Part of the post op care. I do hope that you'll have the same easy ride that I did. The difference afterwards is AMAZING and as likely as not, you'll wish you'd had ot done MILES and MILES sooner. Wish I had extra money to fix my vision as well. 3000$ per eye here so 6,000 but happy to be able to see again even with glasses
Hello
Good hospital..good doctor, nurse, housekeeper and all of staff...proud of ..may god bless all of u....👍👍👍👍👍
This is a play brother😂🤣

Very sincere doctor. God bless you
Fantastic video very helpful as after having retinal detachment surgery a few years ago I was informed that I may be succeptable to cataracts
I had both done at Burton, the first one was brilliant, no pain or anything. The second one was done by a different surgeon and was a b****y nightmare from start to finish. If I could I would have got up and walked out. Thank God it wasn't my first one otherwise I would never have gone back.

Gary Templemain it’s a breeze if you are doing it in US, 5 mins. Don’t worry, just do it. I was legally blind also.

DO DO DO,get it done like the day B4 yesterday.
There'll be no pain, it's just
indescribable.
Lots of luck. It'll be FINE, you'll see.
Quite literally.

Good luck.

I'll need this surgery soon, am a 67 year old male living in USA. I have to confess about being nervous about cataract surgery, even considering the success rate for it.

There's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be nervous about. Apart from a few moments
(.about 10 seconds) of a slightly stinging sensation of the anaesthetic eye drops, you will feel precisely NOTHING AT ALL.
That was the final straw, socI swallowed myself whole and went to the surgeon, who said,
" how on earth have you struggled with this so long.

It'll be SO much more
comfortable than you imagine. You'll be given anaesthetic eye drops which numb the eye COMPLETELY, and you won't feel a THING. So don't be afraid. There's none of the mumbo jumbo of a major operation, infact, don't
be surprised if the surgeon starts chatting to you about halfway through the
proceedings.
Good luck, and you will find that this is the BEST thing since sliced bread, that you'll ever have done in your life.

I know that that was MY experience too, cos the thought of ANYONE touching my eyes had mre sick with nerves and fear. The imagining really IS worst than the actual reality. I can virtually promise you THAT.
You GO and bf happy afterwards.
Hello I am Sunny from Bangladesh I am looking for your advice regarding my elder son who is 14 years old and want to undergo cataract surgery.
Had both eyes done 3yrs ago, no problem. Easy as pie!
How long you be out of work? Do anyone know how long this will heal?
If my pressures r up next time they will consider surgery, I still remember the lens removal surgery I had when I was six. It's V-19 and ppl are saying the next 10-20 yrs. No dr unless needed,
I would take my shoes off before getting on the exam table. Grems.
How long does it takes to heal?
Same question I have
@@lilliemoorer143 That's so sad to hear you are still suffering from this same situation. Am feeling for you right now, I know of a doctor who can help you get rid of this. He also help me from this same situation, He can also help cure yours permanently
cehlsar
Your eye/ eyes, will be fully heqled in about 6 to 8 weeks. During that time, you will be given eye drops to help it heal smoothly, snd you won't have any pain. After the 6 to 8 weeks you're fully healed up,and can live a lovely fully sighted life.
The only thing they don't like you doing in the 1st week after the surgery is to get ANY water in your eyes aa it can irritate them and it might cause a bit of
infection or
Inflamation. But after thqt very 1st week. You can have a completely normal life.
great but why no detail of the operation????!!! i am not a snowdrop
When will he get his glasses back? It appears as though he left without his glasses. They were showing him instructions that he probably couldn’t read without glasses.

No sterile surgical gloves use in pre-surgery prep 2:20?
It’s probably staged 😂
Go for my surgery the 28th of this month so scared I get bad anxiety when someone messes with my eye. They will give me something thru IV
Don't be scared @TAMMY GIRL
It isn't a painful surgery
