God love that couple and thank y'all for the story got my eyes watering up like a baby ! Love the stories where true love of family shine through ! That is one blessed BBQ house !
Good grief that story got me. I love Texas Country Reporter. It’s a childhood memory of mine waking up on the weekends and watching it with my grandparents. God Bless Texas.
Sorry for your loss man my condolences to you and your family. It doesn't get easy as you know but all we can do as a son or daughter is make them proud and carry on the family legacy whatever it may be but do it with pride and honor and master that craft. Thank you for watching.
I will definitely be stopping by this place when in that area ❤😪 such a beautiful couple honoring his father Bless their hearts and those who appreciate their food 🥰 So many people have this pain covid brought upon them R.I.P. to all covid victims you will never be forgotten 😪
Love this story. I too grew up in my dad's business...a medical repair shop. I now run it. I can relate a bit to this man and I am so sorry your dad passed. You are doing so well honoring your dad's hard work even though the field is a bit different god bless
My Pops encouraged me to start my entrepreneur Journey Daily at 12 yo and Ive never looked back and im 58yo i cant understand having a job would drive me crazy, push your Kids to be Business People like this man Did....
99.9% chance that when an old service station is turned into a food place, the food is going to be excellent. I like how he left the car lifts in the garage, it's sorta a homage to what it was and the legacy his father left behind.
It would be nice if you had a list somewhere of all the episodes about restaurants - that are still open and their location. I know you have covered a lot over the years.
In this part of the video BBQ is not that big in HAWAII but many people do there own BBQ at home and usually don't invite anyone except there brothers or sisters families over and usually they will bring something usually a dessert or two and listen to music and talk story as they call it just have a nice time and usually they make more that they can take home and enjoy in there own place it's the CHINESE HAWAIIAN way and they will roll out the red carpet
In this part of the video he starts at when the sun is breaking up and it reminds me of when years ago when I helped my friend and his uncle started the fire in the Imu or pit for the whole pig or 2 depending on how many tourists were coming with the HAWAIIAN hard wood called kiavia and the lava rocks and the burlap were soaked in water and the burlap bag was right there with the shovel as this would take several hour's and it was timed when the busses would come into the property on the beach it's part of the show and usually it was between 35-45 busses would roll in but it was a business just like in WAIKIKI held all over the state depending on what island and the tourists would pay up to 150.00 per person for the entertainment and the food tourism is hugh business just like in NEW YORK CITY hugh revenue and it's part of the budget and nothing negative as there are 35,000 NYPD on patrol to protect the public and the local people but tourism is huge in both states unlike many other states the APPLE state and the Pineapple State as they are known as and I am from Honolulu Hawaii but I live and work in NYC for over 40 years but home is home and I never forgot it but since I left the islands I have gone back 2 times 1 for my sons 1st birthday and the 2nd was when my father passed away over 30 years ago and last year 2023 was a very bad year for me as my brother mother and my ex wife passed away but life for me keeps going on and I still talk to my kids as they are are all grown now living with there own families and I am very proud of that fact to see them happy makes me happy
In this part of the video this place is not really that big meaning seating capacity and it's setup for order pay and cash and carry type of place and they saw a NICHE to make money near a interstate highway where people could stop get something to eat and briefly rest like I did when I was driving but these owners know that already and they don't care cash or credit card who cares Noone
Beautiful story. May God continue to bless this lovely family. Thank you for sharing.

Powerful story. I'm grateful for his father's legacy - as I am for my own Pop's long shadow in my life. Miss you, Dad. 1943-2015.

Thank you! The garage has been turned into a dining room now. The car lift you see here is now the base for a table!
Whenever I have a load going through Slaton I always stop here and you will not find better BBQ anywhere and the sides are excellent too....
dang, that bbq looks so good!
I like the look of that loaded mash. I hope I can get by there.
