Ok... it's been a year. Do you miss the camaro? Miss the power? I have a 2017 ss 6sp. Bought it in 2020. I WANTED a mk5 but just couldn't fathom the cost per performance. I got the ss for 35k with 28k miles. Just couldn't find a better fun to money car at that point. 50k on it now and it's still a blast. I still look back at it when I walk away. But I'm starting to get bored and I'm don't want to dump money into building it. $3-4k+ for a cam install? No thanks. I've always been a foreign car fan. Currently own a mk3 targa turbo, eg civic hatch with a h22, and a 90 pathfinder 4wd 5sp. Have owned many toyota/lexus cars, boosted hondas, E30, e36, 740il, audi's, I thought I wanted the 3.0 but after a few years. The 2.0 is calling for me. The mk3 is getting a built 7mgte. No need for another 3.0. 2.0 easier to mods. Less electronics controlling stuff. Better mpg. Etc Was it worth it? Going to be a big step down in power...
I've had fast cars myself in the past, got all the speeding tickets in Cali which average about $480 a ticket, but at my age now, i want something cool to drive around in hence the 2.0T plus i can get 38-40 mpg out of it when i drive it normally. A simple tune gets you 300WHP and that's all i need. 38-40mpg is an insane benefit most don't mention.
Just picked up a used Supra 2.0 with only 3k miles. Very impressive car. It’s a little torque monster and turns heads everywhere. I shopped the 3.0 but after driving the 2.0, in my opinion the 3.0 wasn’t worth the extra money. Mine is Tungsten but I’m loving the yellow.
@@touayaaj84 Now, I have to agree with you there. I actually don’t even have the Supra anymore. The punchy little four cylinder just didn’t do it for me anymore. At the end of the day, if you have the money for the 3.0, definitely buy it. I pulled up to a light one day and a guy in a 3.0 pull up and revved his motor. At that moment, I knew I had made a big mistake buying the 2.0. 🤣.
I just bought a new 2024 automatic premium GR 86 and love it. I chose it over the same color 2021 2.0 Supra with only 3800 miles. I like the vibe of the GR 86 community - it's a cool club. Seen too many 4 cyl against 6 cyl and I see too many Supras on the road, rarely a GR 86. I'm waiting on a Japan Aero Kit to arrive in a month - going all out on it even though it's just an automatic.
I totally understand getting rid of a car after a wreck, I do the same thing. As a daily you have a fun car with good MPG. I would miss the sound of a V8 engine but I understand your choice. Good luck with the Supra, looks like a fun drive.
Man I was getting jazzed about the Camaro LT1 I was eyeing, but I didn't like the deal and I had second thoughts about the convertible, so I'm backing up and taking the time I need to find the right RWD sports car. I don't know much about the 2.0 Supra other than it's a damn fine proper sports car. Course I always thought 3.0, but I want to see what you have to say about this one. So I'm still in my Veloster N and I'm leaning more towards just keeping it and adding a sports car. My favorite two thus far are the M2 Competition and the 6th gen Camaro SS 1LE. Sounds like you did really good with the trade on the SS. Take care buddy that yellow is freaking SWEET!!
Do a downpipe either catless or hiflo cat and a tune. That should get you to 300WHP and that's plenty fast for what you're looking for. The B48 can make some good power for a 4 cylinder turbo. I use to have a 2020 3.0 and it was a blast to drive even stock. I had a catless dp and tune making just over 400whp.
I was thinking about a second car. I have a BMW X3 M40I I'm six 2 so I need some room. If your 6ft. 4 and can fit in it comfortably I will too. Love the Color.
I had a 2016 WRX STI with 500+whp before it blew up.. Loved the interior, the speed, but after it blew up I got a 2022 frontier. It's cool, but I honestly don't care about speed like that anymore and may get a 2.0 for looks and MPG. Love the car man!
@@CarolinaAutosI have a 2.0 as well ive had it since 2021 I'd be lying if I didn't say I wanted a bit more power or the 3.0 but honestly it's my daily and I've had enough tickets in my civic I travel about 44 miles each day for work so it's enough for me i do have some gripes besides the ones everyone mentions but nevertheless I love it
As someone who has owned three Supra turbos in my life, multiple Bimmers (founded Bay Area M3 club), Porsches, Vettes. etc. I can’t imagine going from a 1LE to a Supra, much less a 4-cylinder Supra. I considered the Z, Supra, Mach-1, etc. I picked a SS 1LE. To quote MotorTrend when they were comparing the Supra to the Z (not the Camaro), “We could point out the fact that the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE costs less and is worlds better to drive than either (plus it's quicker than both in the quarter mile), but let's keep our eyes on the nostalgia prize.” I also have issues with the Supra styling. I hated it at first, but it’s grown on me a bit. The fact you can’t drive it with the windows down was a huge issue too. Hopefully I’m wrong, because I think you are going to regret this one. 😬
I like it WAY more than my 1LE. It's not even close, it's just a nicer car to drive everyday. For a weekend car, sure the 1LE is compelling but for something to drive every day, the Supra makes way more sense
I went from an SS 1LE to a 3.0 Supra and I’m glad I did. Love the Supra, also loved the Camaro, wish I could have both! The Camaro handles better, has way better seats and sounds better stock. Everything else I like about the Supra better. Looks, power, nimble and lighter weight. Both great cars.
@@19hundoc47 right on, I’m glad you love the Supra. I’ve warmed up to the styling slightly, but I still think the Supra is among the uglier cars. It’s better looking than a “beaver” Bimmer though! I really want to like the Supra, having owned several in the past, but it’s just odd looking to my eye. Plus, the fake scoops don’t help. The Supra is definitely polarizing on the styling. It seems you love it or hate it.
@@GrimSRT8 true, I live up at 6000ft altitude too so the turbo really helps. Also you hardly see any Supras out where I live so I like having something not everyone else has
B48 engine is a very underappreciated engine and a torque monster, gets good mpg when driving normal. I have that same engine in my Mini JCW GP, Mini/BMW made some tweaks for the B48 in the GP like reinforced crankshaft, larger main bearings, and different pistons with lower compression ratio for a larger turbo for 302hp/332tq. I'm not gonna tune my car because it's already kinda crazy with all the torque steer lol and I think Mini got the most reliable power level out of it. I do want an exhaust though lol. The Mini replaced my Type R which caught on fire and got totaled.
How do you like it a year later? I passed on a Supra 2021 2.0 with 3800 miles for a new prem 2024 GR 86 for 39k otd and I'm going to put in about $5k into it, mostly cosmetic.
@@kampfire u made the right choice of going gr 86 over supra 2.0. I don't mean that in a negative way rather the car feels completely different. Although I enjoy my Supra and have nothing bad to say about it other than the trunk and wind buffeting, I will say if I had to choose again, I'd probably save up a little more and get cayman.
Yeah if you're after a manual then you're kind of forced into a GR86 because I don't even want to know how much the manual 3.0 Supras will go for over MSRP...
I kept saying 4.0 Supra; I meant 4 cylinder....😅
4.0 is the V8 one coming soon. 😉

Did you say you were 6ft 4inchs and you had no complaints?
How are the maintenance costs on this? Since it has BMW internals, do they cost more like typical BMWs or is it more Toyota-ish?
It was definitely more BMW ish if you follow the dealerships recommendations to a "T", but nothing unreasonable
