Little Blue Springs near Bronson has baby pickerel in it. Its pretty much a closed system with only tiny fish left from over fishing and brush slowing the flow of water in and out. But that means the Waccasassa, which feeds the springs has pickerel in it. There's a good spot over by Devil's Hammock where you can park your vehicle odd the road and walk the river a bit. It's on the left coming from Bronson. Good luck. :-)
You'll find them in Rattlesnake Pond in the Tiger Bay area off US-92 between Daytona Beach and Deland. I've caught numerous adults, they average 8 inches or so, I used to net the babies to sell to aquarists. They're common in this pond, it's all blackwater, there are Redfin Pickerel, Mudfish, Blue Spotted Sunfish, Flier, Pygmy Sunfish, various Lepomis sp, and one of the only places in Central Florida to find Leptolucania ommata. It's a 3 mile dirt road off the south side of US 92, the road is called Duke Island Road. You drive back 3 miles, it comes to the pond, it's a square shaped pond, it's a relict body of water from way before the land was ever developed. An awesome aquatic habitat. There are also Swamp Darters and Gambusia.
I love all your content! I have honestly been waiting on a good sequel to that chain pickerel video that you did. Thank you for all the effort you put into your channel! See you at Bass Pro again one of these days!
Thank you! Do you mean the chain pickerel kayak video or the one where I fished from the bank? I no longer work there! Stay tuned thanks for your great comment!
Hi, Family is planning a trip to Orlando next year. They want to go roam the city but I want to catch as many fish species as possible! I want to catch a florida gar, bass, bowfin, any cool catfish, maybe a pickerel and whatever exotics. I am watching your vids to get some tips and ideas for where to fish for what. Thanks!
That last bite I got at the end was off of a big log! Weve gotten on soom cool patterns of them stacked up in down limbs where a maze of twi sized branches gives them perfect cover. Weve also found they live in pickerelweed often, who knew. Stay tuned for the story to develope!
Ive got single hook red roostertails I've been fishing in that creek for em for years 🤣 I actually managed to get them with my custom weedless spinner. I can put it where they live and not get snagged

6:50 sent that fish to heaven on that hookset 😂
Then I said "YAKED HIM" in a country voice 🤣
They love big pieces of wood like submerged tree trunks if that helps at all. As well as dense grass obviously
