For those wondering real world battery performance, with two 5ah batteries I got through 4 2x2 concrete flags/paving slabs at 2 inch. I couldn’t put any pressure on the cut without the red light flashing telling me to ease off. But it’s nice not having to pull start for the odd cut of bricks blocks etc, and hardy any hand vibration. with me owning plenty of batteries it’s not really a problem having the sort run time. Definitely doesn’t replace a petrol saw but a handy tool to have👍
Great feedback. Its the noise and fumes that would attract me without a pull cord start. This would probably have the same motor/power as the 9" 36v angle grinder
I agree, they just aren't man enough for site use, alright for 1 of 2 cuts but all day use like a ground worker or bricklayer stick to a STIHL saw, cheaper as well!
I used the little 5inch makita with a single 18v for years, to cut granite and marble, bricks and concrete lintles. Just ordered the 9inch grinder as well - I hope I won’t be disappointed. I’m surprised that many guys say this feels underpowered and doesn’t cut too many linear feet. Especially with it being brushless tech.
Runtime and charging time would depend on what battery you used, you can find some more information regarding this here: makitauk.com/news/makita-launch-50ah-lithiumion-battery-for-66-more-run-time
I was literally going to buy one after id finished this video until he said the guards fixed. What a design fault. I use a still saw daily. Id like a cordless for smaller stuff patios. Stop start situations when a petrol can be annoying. But the guard needs to be able to move. For instance for cutting a doorway where you have to hold the cutter high. If it can't be moved it will make life hard or reduce the cutting depth. Massive flaw from makita not making it adjustable.imo
I'm a staunch Makita fan, but that handle looks makeshift. The bent end-pipe bolted to the side. Sure, it does the job, but it's the sort of thing that janky Chinese knock-offs do. Doesn't look like a product that's been through a rigourous product design process.

Hi I was wondering what makita diamond blade your using in this video? Could possibly attach a link to the blade I might try one in mine.
Thanks
Keep up the good work makitia
I need to get one of those are these in store yet
Makita where the hell are your new battery lights? Surely the uk should get them for the current winter
Думаю для такой техники нужно 4 аккумулятора применять!
Bought Makita demo few days ago. Tested cutting concrete slab, no much power, batteries don't last long.
Does anyone know how many linear feet of standard concrete pavers (60 mm, 2.4 in.) you can cut on a full charge?
and the best bit its made in japan
Are makita going to make any 18v batteries that are a higher amp than 6 ?
Hi Thomas, We're not planning any 18v battery which is higher 6 amp at the moment.
how long does it take to re-charge the batteries and how long does the battery last for? looks like a cracking bit of kit.

What is the cut depth on this ?
Hi Thomas, The maximum cut for this is 88 mm. Hope it helps :)

It’s only a 9 inch so wouldn’t be much good for cutting an opening in a 4 inch wall anyway
