@@inmydarkesthour2278 me neither, I was thinking someones leg was going to be malled. Im a surfer and last summer had my entire foot swallowed by some big fish while sitting on my board. They were catching lots of small blacktip sharks off the jetty that day and I screamed think it was a shark. Lifted foot up expecting to see bloody mess and nothing. Got lot of laughs. Must have been a tarpon or something as there was a few rolling in the lineup that day also.

I don't believe that the shark bit you out of aggression. But more like out of curiosity. Biting is truly the only way they know how to learn and interact. From what I overheard, they generally don't like the taste of human anyways.

They're so timid and precious, I love how it seems like they're doing their very best to find the food and getting confused. I also love seeing the fish nibbling on the food when the babies aren't there haha, free meal! Absolutely beautiful sharks, I'm sure it was a super nervous encounter for them but they handled it very well. The little test bite and release seems like one of them took the initiative to find out what you were once and for all!

It's not a shark attack it's a normal ordinary practice for sharks to actually bite the food they are going to eat. Human beings are not food for them. @@jame2182 100%, Sharks aren't the monsters movies portray them as. The movies always give them an intent, like they're maliciously hunting people, but that just isn't true. Sharks are very curious and very skittish too, but they don't have hands or fingers to touch and test things out with, they just have their eyes and their mouths. And if their eyes think they see their typical prey, they're probably gonna go for it because gotta eat to survive. Personally, I think they're beautiful creatures we never gave enough credit to. Maybe they're not as obviously clever as a dolphin or a primate, but they clearly have their own form of intelligence, especially when it comes to friendly encounters with humans. I'm pretty sure if they were mindless killing machines, the entire ocean would be red by now!!

I would be more careful with bull shark and oceanic whitetip. While there are more unprovoked attacks and fatal bites coming from great white, the fatality percentage is higher with bull shark. But then again, most death caused by shark attacks were due to blood loss rather than from the bite itself, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They basically are just scavengers, and they don’t have the greatest eyesight. They are mainly sensing with receptors in their “nose” that can sense small electrical signals made from nerves firing, chemical changes in the water, and heat. So a lot of times they just test things with their mouth to see if it seems like food or not. Once they can feel that you’re not a chunk of fish, squid, etc they immediately back off.

Anyone Chumming around your body... If the scent drifts on to you, you may be tested as the source of the smell. That's how they do!! Happened to my friend in Hawaii. A Galapagos shark rubbed up against her leg as a scent sample, no bite... I always figure that the fishy Spray sunblocks will attract sharks to test or bite, too.

They are such beautiful animals. Cruelly mistreated by humans I think. As a child on many holidays in Cornwall I have to confess I would love to see the freshly caught sharks. But 35 or so years later and in my 40s now my viewpoint thankfully has shifted. Must be amazing to interact with this wonderful creatures.
In Iceland they eat rotten shark (I guess they call it Hakkarl) and I don't understand how can they eat that... also, shark meat by itself has a strong ammonia smell, I think I'll never eat it!

They were catching lots of small blacktip sharks off the jetty that day and I screamed think it was a shark. Lifted foot up expecting to see bloody mess and nothing. Got lot of laughs. Must have been a tarpon or something as there was a few rolling in the lineup that day also.

I also love seeing the fish nibbling on the food when the babies aren't there haha, free meal! Sharks are very curious and very skittish too, but they don't have hands or fingers to touch and test things out with, they just have their eyes and their mouths. Personally, I think they're beautiful creatures we never gave enough credit to. Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).

I would be more careful with bull shark and oceanic whitetip. While there are more unprovoked attacks and fatal bites coming from great white, the fatality percentage is higher with bull shark. But then again, most death caused by shark attacks were due to blood loss rather than from the bite itself, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).

Beautiful animals, the amount of patience it takes to get them to come in so close is insane
They basically are just scavengers, and they don’t have the greatest eyesight. They are mainly sensing with receptors in their “nose” that can sense small electrical signals made from nerves firing, chemical changes in the water, and heat. So a lot of times they just test things with their mouth to see if it seems like food or not. Once they can feel that you’re not a chunk of fish, squid, etc they immediately back off.

Anyone Chumming around your body... If the scent drifts on to you, you may be tested as the source of the smell. That's how they do!! Happened to my friend in Hawaii. A Galapagos shark rubbed up against her leg as a scent sample, no bite... I always figure that the fishy Spray sunblocks will attract sharks to test or bite, too.

They are such beautiful animals. Cruelly mistreated by humans I think. As a child on many holidays in Cornwall I have to confess I would love to see the freshly caught sharks. But 35 or so years later and in my 40s now my viewpoint thankfully has shifted. Must be amazing to interact with this wonderful creatures.
In Iceland they eat rotten shark (I guess they call it Hakkarl) and I don't understand how can they eat that... also, shark meat by itself has a strong ammonia smell, I think I'll never eat it!

Pirates aren't cool and epic as fiction loves to paint them as, they're just thieves with ships lol, you wouldn't say "that's pretty cool" if someone broke into your house and hauled all your valuables into his car

I love how these sharks just basically swim around and try to figure out what is and is not food and where the smell of food is coming from.

Actually that lemon shark is a juvenile so it would be more like "hold my gatorade."
Shark do not bite out og agression. They do it as it way to show curiosity or inspection. Those animals rarely attack human nor they like eating humans. Shark bite people because they confuse human with fish and bite you. People often dies because blood loss not due them eating them. Sharks make mistakes and bite people then spew it and move away. This fear of Shark come from the impact of the Jaws movies( which do not shark nature at all) and people take that movie as face values which is a myth. There is worst soecies than Shark. You want ro avoid them , then proceed to never go to dawn or dusty area nor goes in their habitat. If you find them near you , do not panic nor thrash because that will activate intincts or make yourself similar to a fish.

But thing is that shark are getting in danger by extinction due that people have wrong perception of them and justifies that killing them or hunting them is good since they are dangerous and" killers monsters". Movies, some bad decumentaries and social media harms it by giving bad information.

Wow, talk about a close call! This guy is one lucky survivor after encountering a lemon shark. Did you know that lemon sharks are one of the few species of shark that are known to live near shorelines and in shallow waters? They got their name from their yellowish color and are known to be less aggressive towards humans compared to other shark species. Regardless, it's always important to exercise caution and respect when swimming in waters where sharks may be present. Kudos to this man for coming out of this experience unharmed!
