On a 5 gallon bucket you can just put a towel over it. Let's the gas vent and keeps bugs out. Remember, for the 200 plus years people were making shine they didn't use air locks. BTW the only reason there's mash in your lock on the bucket is because you over filled it.

Blow off tube works well also and no worries about it getting full when you get a very active mash
Why do you use raisins?
Raisins are fun to watch go up and down. They do act as a nutrient but not very effective.
