If you open the valve, the oil would just drain all the way to the legs. I recommend adding another T-tube thing then rotate it on it's side after the valve then block the under side to prevent leaks and add the legs then open the valve, use the upper side to fill the lamp, after filling the lamp, close the valve then add some end cap to protect the oil
+Axxdrian Enciso Great idea. I was trying to think of some way to have the bottle of lamp oil attached upside-down like a gerbil-watering thing, but your idea is safer and better.
Great job! If you adjust the height of the wick it will stop smoking and burn correctly. I own an oil lamp It is really cool to see this though, Thanks
I see a lot of people complaining about the valve... To those people, I would say... How about you simply tell people not to turn the valve? Do you really have people roaming through your home unsupervised, mishandling your belongings? If so, then you need to learn how to set guidelines in your home. I think the valve is a good idea, because it gives a way to drain the lamp and clean it out. This certainly is not a good thing to have around children, but there should be no problem with adults around. If there is, the problem is with you and the adults mishandling your lamp.
on the top of the vale there is a screw, simply lock the vale in the shut posistion and remove the screw, this will remove the head and cannot be turned in the on position.
consta pated I was using speakers. They weren't loud either. And please, if you're gonna say something, say it like a normal person would and don't try to act cool. You just make yourself look stupid and dumb.
I had my volume all the way up from another video. I think everyone in my house heard you say "what's up everyone welcome to my laboratory" at midnight haha
reason for the fire alarms going off is because he had the wicks to high i think. ive done that before and it has made black smoke. i plan to build this eue
Since it's well sealed and has heat plus the oil, could there be evaporated gases that build up inside the structure causing it to potentially become explosive? Or at least pressurized?
Awesome! I made two of these combined them facing each other and added citronella oil to keep bugs away works pretty good under $25. Keep up the great ideas you crazy Russian!
Damn smoke detector made me jump, I thought it was mine !
+Wastedon4loko hahaha it got me too.

***** I'm not trying to be mean but I think I'll stick with my grandma's old oil lamps
your tape job is all wrong, that why your leaking
started the tape wrap the wrong way,
that's why it leaked
He was using Teflon tape on the black iron pipe joints
No plastic involved
3 ways plumbers seal joints pipe dope telfon paste or Teflon tape
***** one problem and i think you'll agree with me. The first kid that comes along is going to open that valve. See my point?
When the smoke alarm went off my bird did like a flip
I had a mini heart attack when the fire alarm went off Lol

If you (or somebody else) were to turn the handle on the valve, would the oil not seep down into the base and leak out?
Welcome to my laboratory, where safety is-BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Great job! If you adjust the height of the wick it will stop smoking and burn correctly. I own an oil lamp It is really cool to see this though, Thanks
It's fun outside until someone grabs the candle and burns your house down

yes but I think the valve is mainly to seal the legs off from the oil
I think that is actually one of the points that I tried to make. :)
on the top of the vale there is a screw, simply lock the vale in the shut posistion and remove the screw, this will remove the head and cannot be turned in the on position.

maybe if you put end caps on the feet that valve would be. useful for storing fuel.

That lamp looks awesome

Cool! I need something like this in my garden.
Since it's well sealed and has heat plus the oil, could there be evaporated gases that build up inside the structure causing it to potentially become explosive? Or at least pressurized?
