Youre very welcome! Our kids are 6 and 8 so they still fit in the macan. As they get older we will need to upsize for sure. Macan still lets you feel like youre driving a sports car, its the best in class driving dynamics in my opinion. But the cayenne is more practical for sure. Thanks for watching
Pete - thanks for the video. Your video helped me solidify my decision to pick up a 2021 Macan GTS. I’ve had it for a couple of months and love it. This is a bit of a weird question. When you are in Sports or Sports Plus and floor the throttle, what PSI turbo boost are you getting? I was getting around 17, now only 13 and the dealership is trying to figure out why. I thought I’d ask to see if you are getting the 17 on yours. Thanks!
Great Video! I must point out though that there is not a particulate filter on the 2021 Macan GTS in the US. That is only for the EU, China, and Japan markets. So we get the louder Macan GTS
Anyone saying the rear light looks like robocop has no idea about Porsche history. I've been thinking about the Macan GTS to replace my aging 2001 BMW 330i sedan. I originally wanted the alcantara interior but I've recently swapped ideas to this type of interior.... full leather and the 18 way seats to get those great horizontal padding components in the seats which remind me of the 80s era 911 Carerra seats. Every time I see one of these on the road I follow it to look at the aggressive wide stance and check out the interior.
@@plife911 I keep coming back to this video, Pete. I like the Night Blue Metallic color. Any issues with the Macan yet? I think I'm going to buy one next year.
Currently 2020 Aston vantage in garage but I dont daily it really. I was driving an acura tlx to work but that got sold during the pandemic because it was just sitting
Nice review and in some respects, better than the so-called professional ones. Can really see the joy of driving the vehicle at the end merging onto the expressway. So many pro reviews showing in-town drives at barely above idle.
Hey Pete I’m looking at the GTS in chalk ( with tan / black interior) , question I like the sport exhaust but want a quiet sound in the neighborhood do you find that when you turn the sports exhaust off is it just like the Macan S? I am also looking at not adding on the Chrono package since it’s a small difference .
Exhaust in regular mode is quiet while driving. Cold starts on macan S/gts/turbo are actually louder than most cars with the sport exhaust because all the valves are open for 30 sec. but if cold start isnt an issue then cruising around in regular mode is very tame as long as you lay off the gas pedal.
Short story is: turbo is more expensive and is geared a little more towards luxury. The gts handles and sounds better and its cheaper. The turbo is faster in a straight line. Both are great
How were you able to configure this gts with the smaller steering wheel. I have a gts cayenne being built soon and because of packages I could not do that. That is an excellent steering wheel. I have it on my 911.
Its the option called “GT sport steering wheel”. The macan has this as an option. The cayenne has a different steering wheel with more buttons like the panamera. Not sure if this is an option on the cayenne 😞
Yes dealers can give 3-7% off, but it depends a little bit on luck and your relationship/purchase history. Also depemds on availability of configurable allocations when you ask. Germany’s covid slowdowns are not helping
Could you please tell me more about the plugs for the exhaust you're hoping to be available for the 2021 Macan GTS? Still waiting on my 2021 GTS. Delivery date is May 7, 2021. Thanks!
AWE is making a plug for the electronic exhust valves. You unplug the electronic sensor from the valve and it will stay open. This plug keeps your vehicle from seeing the loss of signal. Hopefully should come out sometime in spring
@@plife911 Thanks! I want some additional growl out the GTS exhaust but thinking I don't really want to rework the entire exhaust. Also considering the Flatsix air filter upgrade - any thoughts?
I keep coming back to this video as I'm not trying to decide on a color for my new Macan GTS... this MIdnight Blue Metallic is growing on me... I just noticed the brake calipers... are those the white optioned calipers?
Thanks! Night blue gets alot of compliments. The white calipers are PSCB option which gives you bigger brakes that stop better and make very little dust, hence the white caliper. They also dont rust on the surface with rain/washing. Worth every penny but replacement cost is like 10k for a full brake job. Thankfully porsche says they last 40% longer. These are standard on the macan turbo and Taycan turbo I believe
@@plife911 Yeah, you don’t need them on a macan. I just didn’t see the red calipers and not white looking either. I’ve test driven a turbo, but not the GTS Macan. The turbo was amazing.
one of my friends recently bought a macan turbo. He has had 2 turbos and 2 gts prior gen. He says you really notice sitting higher in the turbo and its a bit quieter than the gts. Otherwise its fast amd super luxo. He loves it. Turbo is always oriented towards being more of a luxury misile. The gts typically gets massaged to feel more engaging with different tuning of all the driver inputs. Both are great cars.
My Dad is picking up a Macan GTS in December and I'm thinking about getting a tune for him for his birthday but the car is leased. Do you know of any reliable piggyback manufacturer options that work well with this car? I have experience with flash tuning my GTI but have never used a piggyback in the past.
Hi there, while optioning my GTS I was wondering if PSCB were remotely necessary if you don't track the car. Brake dusts wouldn't be that noticeable if you keep the standard black wheels no? Also, have you noticed any brake squeal?
You dont need the pscb unless you drive really hard. The brake dust difference is real tho. The black wheels turn brownish with steel brakes after a while unless you wash them. No squeal but this is luck of the draw
@@plife911 Thanks for the quick feedback! Probably not going to utilize the extra breaking power so I'm still leaning towards the steel brakes atm. However will definitely consider upgrading if I opt for the 911 Turbo wheels
Why pscb with turbo wheels? Is it because theyre more open? That would make me even more likely to keep steel brakes because theyre easy to clean. The RS spyder wheels are the hardest wheels to clean ive ever had
Is the OPF removable for the United States Macan GTS? That thing will sound ridiculous if you remove it. I’m not sure if it is removable on this car though which is why I ask.
@@plife911 This may be a newbie question, but I’m still learning. If one were to swap out the exhaust completely does that process swap out the downpipe too? What is the downpipe for exactly? I talked to a high end body shop in NYC who works on Porsche’s for potentially changing the exhaust on my C43 AMG and he recommended the AWE touring exhaust. I’ve been looking at AWE exhausts for the Macan, but they don’t have them for 2019 and up. They do sound great for the Macans that did get them. You can also get the track edition AWE exhaust which is louder... 😎 I honestly would want to avoid changing the OEM exhaust, it may sound perfect if the OPF is gone and may not need another exhaust. I need an SUV so I’m trying to decide which one to get either the GTS or the BMW X3M.... either one will need the OPF delete one way or the other because I want the loud brrrrr without having to drive like a lunatic. Downpipe goes from the engine block to the front of the car usually. Sometimes it contains primary catalytic converters and now particulate filters. The rest of the exhaust usually is comprise of a mid pipe and rear silencer section. But this depends on whether the car is front engine, mid engine or rear engine. Usually downpipes are exhaust manifolds for front engine cars
I do not because 1. Its my wife’s car and 2. It wears the rear brakes faster. The PSCB are more expensive to replace, but I would have added it if I had steel brakes.
Engine is 2.9L V6 (smaller than last gen). But the turbos are in a hot V configuration (like the RS and AMG engines). Very little turbo lag. This engine is a gem. Pulls hard but its slightly detuned over 5500 rpm compared to the turbo. Im not sure if the actual turbochargers are different Edit: from a power delivery perspective i like it better than my 15 macan turbo which had a 3.6L v6. This audi engine feels more peppy. Definitely get the sport chrono pack as the car feels numb in regular mode and sport plus adds another layer of aggro
@@plife911 Thank you. I enjoyed your video. My build locks in a few days. I am doing Night Blue and have the chrono. Can I ask what leather package you selected?
