LA with LADOT and Metro is implementing "complete" streets everywhere, but they have some serious flaws which could be fixed thanks to HLA but LADOT refuses to fix their complete streets which means that completely innocent lives continue to be lost.
You're 100% right. Venice Blvd is still a street-highway like it was before. The half-assed protected bike lane and half-assed bus lane make it better than it was before but no doubt it will still remain among the list of dangerous streets in LADOT's High Injury Network. So in a handful of years they'll admit it's just as dangerous at it was before and they'll need to redo the whole thing again. Just do it right the first time. Traffic calm these horrendous boulevards.
Yeah, that's what makes me do a video actually, I decided to bike down the Venice lanes (La cienega to Beethoven) and I quickly realized it was very half assed, the bike lanes end randomly, bus lanes aren't enforced and the sidewalks are still really narrow
that strode looks very scary for cycling, it's insane how cities think (or actually don't give a think) for safer street for any one outside a car. they just don't care, as long as drivers are not slowed down nothing else matters
