Even cooler thing about the glass frog is, since they don't have transparent blood, apparently in the daytime they go in a kind of hibernation state that will lower how much blood is visible under them!
When they sleep, they actually actively hide their blood! I believe most of it goes into their kidneys, which are coated in a reflected material called guanine! When they get pumped up, their blood is visible throughout their bodies.
I love the fact the leaf frog doesn't go through a metamorphosis. I would have never guess there are frogs that doesn't go through a tadpole phase... Like... What?? I loved it! Hahahah
The vietnamese mossy frogs camouflage is absolutely amazing. Me and my family saw them at an aquarium and were amazed at how well the camouflage worked. It took us way too long to realize that none of the moss on the tree was ACTUALLY moss.
The New Zealand Native frogs are weird little guys, no external eardrum, round eyes and don't croak. Two species also don't have a tadpole stage. Male Archey's frogs carry the froglets on their back its super cute.
You showed us the bird poop frogs briefly in a snake video. You were having trouble getting a snake to eat and looked up which frogs you have that overlap that snake's range in the wild, then rubbed a frozen thawed mouse over the frogs to scent it. If I remember correctly, the trick worked. I just can't remember how long ago you posted the video or what species of snake it was.
Guys guess what? I'm 36 years old and getting a pet I never thought I'd have: a snake! I have been a lifelong animal lover, collecting inverts as a child and having dogs, cats, fish, and frogs as pets. I never was overly afraid of snakes, but I never saw their appeal as a pet until I saw a hognose and have been learning to understand snake behavior from your videos. Well now I've put down a deposit, bought all her stuff, and plan for her to arrive in April!
@amandastakeonit7402 Thanks! I've been watching and reading a lot even before making the decision, have a great breeder who has been answering a lot of questions, joined a group of hoggie owners, chosen one who's a good eater and enjoys being handled...I want to do things right!
@eeltenaj19 Thanks for asking. Great! So far he has eaten frozen thawed every meal, had a successful shed, and is getting used to me holding him. He definitely adds a new and interesting element to my life! I ended up getting a male due to the adult size difference. He's an albino toffee conda and really pretty!
Slightly off topic, but it was mentioned: I used to work somewhere that had a large bald eagle population and I’ve always thought they sounded like squeaky screen doors. Very akin to a rusty hinge.
Seeing how the mossy frog reacted, have y'all ever played recordings of all of your animals to each other to see how they react? Like has Rex ever heard a gator that's not herself? I feel like that could be fun to see what they do, if anything

Hi Emily and Ed I've been watching you guys for YEARS now and I just wanna thank you for making great memories about my childhood and snakes :) I appreciate you guys keep doing what your doing!!
I knew the glass frog was gonna be in this video. They're just so unique. That moss frog, though, so generous and polite! It was kind enough to share with us the song of its people. 😊
Frogs and toads are among my favorite species...very cute and neat creatures! He looks like a cute broach on your shirt, glass froggies are neat! The Hairy Frog is one for your collection! Your African Bullfrog looks both serious and somewhat bored, but can they eat!!!
Something really cool about glass frogs is that they can change how transparent they are, and even have the ability to make the edges of their bodies look blurry! This makes them really good at blending into the leaves they hide on.
I think the Purple frog/Pig nose frog is the weirdest frog. Its found in india. It lives underground primarily. It only comes out in the for the 2 weeks of monsoon rain season to mate. It would be cool if you had it and had it in an under ground home with clear glass to see whats underground. Kinda like an ant farm . 😊
that shape on animals like the eared frog helps enhance hearing in general (it's the reason owls have a flat face, underneat the feathers the face shape acts as a parabola that helps them hear better), so I would guess that's the reason! Quite literally a ear extension!
Not a very feasible pet frog, but the weirdest frog I know is the Brazilian tree frog (xenohyla truncata) which is the world's only known fruit-eating frog!
As an animal UA-camr I know how hard it is to run a channel like editing, thumbnail making, and film while caring for more than one animal. The fact that ur able to post every 3 days is admirable. Seriously I started making thumbnails today. I’m eagerly waiting for summer bc big channel changes are coming but I’m running out of ideas. Seriously 👏 good job.
I love your 5 weirdest frogs! I’m actually a frog owner myself and have 2 aquatic frogs! The species name is called African Clawed Frogs. They live fully in water and don’t need land. I had one for 10years. I also have owned Tomato frogs from Madagascar. I think these frogs would make a nice addition to your zoo! My favorite Frog on your list would have to be the Leaf Litter Frog- I find it fascinating that they skip the tadpole stage and go right into looking like adults! Thank you for showing off your frogs and hope to see more soon!

I absolutely adore green tree frogs! I live in far north Queensland, and with the rain we have had this wet season, the frogs have gone crazy! I opened my front door last night and realised that there were young green tree frogs all over my door (plus the one I sort of stood on 😢).
Loved these different frogs but you need to check out the Australian Motorbike frog which is native and only found in my corner of Australia in the South West of Western Australia. It's named the Motorbike frog for a reason, it sounds just like a revving Motorbike going through gear changes. Can quite often be mistaken for an actual Motorbike as they can get quite loud!! Most amazing sound to listen too, especially from a frog!!
Yas! Bedtime snake discovery video! I love how your update time fits so often with me going to bed. It's like a nice, fun and teaching bedtime story :D
I'm glad you guys have glass frogs too, they are the cutest! I have reticulated and Northern glass frogs, I'm hoping to become a breeder up here in Canada 🐸
Here in Australia we have a bird poop spider. I had no idea there were bird poop frogs too! It's a neat survival tactic. The bird poop spider lays eggs in eggsacs that look like marbles. We had one in a tree out the front and it had 3 marble sized , shaped and coloured eggsacs. Was very interested checking in on it! I noticed it by itself first and then it proceeded to lay it's eggsacs one by one over the next few weeks.
My fiance and I are so into frogs. We got our first frog together (I've kept toads and whites tree frogs in the past) last weekend at a reptile expo and he's one of my fiance's dream spieces, the pixie frog. Thank you for your love of frogs and amphibians.
Ok but clearly we need a glass frog pin bc little dude is crazy cute just vibing on emily's shirt!! Also the leaf frogs are terrestrial and don't have a tadpole stage?? Y'all just introduced a whole new dimension to my solomon island biotope daydream 😂
