My top 10 in the evening gowns were based on their performances not the gowns. I didn’t empathize on how expensive the dress looked rather on their performance. My top 10 were: 1) India- despite a decent gown, her performance was my favorite to watch. Her face, facial expressions, the turn and the killer walk was so amazing to watch. I absolutely fell in love with her😍😍 2) Peru- The walk, facial expressions were all so good. Great presentation 😂😂 3) Mexico- great presentation, her turn was really good and her face looked fierce and angelic at the same time. 4) Dominican Republic- walk and confidence were on point 5) Brazil- good walk and loved her confidence 6) Jamaica - great walk, wished she had changed her facial expressions 7) Thailand- gorgeous woman, amazing gown, but her performance fell a bit short for me. I absolutely loved her in swimsuit but I was shocked to see her performed like that in evening gown cuz I really wanted to see her in top 5, but the performance was ok and that forced turn wasn’t good 8) Costa Rica- Amazing gown, but her performance wasn’t memorable. Gorgeous girl though 9) Puerto Rico- I loved her but her gown performance was surprisingly not that great. That turn in the beginning was confusing and her make up wasn’t good. 10) Australia- I really wanted her to be in top 5 but her performance was ok

Colombia does play the violin, but not the way she used when she was at a music academy. She joined when she was a kid, but eventually she got out; she knows the basics, I guess
I wish Peru would have just placed higher, like giving the country that top 2 position would have made us so proud. But putting her in 3rd after doing so so well. That really stung on people

I don't mind an all female panel. The winners they've been choosing since have been good. Being selected by female judges doesn't make a winner any less relatable to men.
After the final statement, I thought Peru already locked in the crown 👑. I absolutely agree that it was difficult do find the channel to watch. I guess capitalism hits MUO really hard. We should make a petition to make the MUO to air Miss Universe live on UA-cam like Miss Grand International did.

My take on the 2021 Miss Universe contest, is that a white contestant had less chance to become Miss Universe 2021 than Ricky Gervais has, hosting the 2022 Academy Awards

Liked your comment on the capes! Guy couldn't say that without complaints! lol The contestants deserve to show off their figures. I liked the high heels worn, particularly in primary competition. Went away from platforms to strappy pumps with a high arch.
It was MU 2020 not 2021 although it should have been. Due to Covid 2020 could have been cancelled the way some other big pageants did. It seems the 2021 pageant will be the end of this year. Always agreed men should also be on the panel. Quite interesting that so many had Peru as the winner. By the question round I had Mexico last.
I absolutely loved this year’s MU. They did it in three groups of seven to accommodate social distancing, as after seven were called they were escorted off stage to make room for the remaining. I agree that straight men need to he on the panel. MU can’t lecture us on inclusion and diversity when they ignore 1/2 the world’s population. I loved Nepal, Myanmar, Peru and Nicaragua the most. However, I also loved the top two.
Although I am totally agree about what you said in this video regarding miss Colombia , I really would like to know what’s the problem you have with my country . Because since you started in this game playing to be a pageant critic, you always have negative things to say about the girls from my country , I have never seen a nice comment from you to the Colombian queens , so it seems you have some kind of animosity against Colombia in general, and coming from a former Beauty queen pageant it’s kinda illogic that you use your social media but in a negative way towards a specific country ( which is what you are doing against Colombia ) , so please give the example you are supposed to give and spread more love and less bitterness against my country . I think that having girls walking on swimsuits without the capes would've made easier for the judges to see more of their body shapes. Having them wear capes for swimsuits would've seemed that the girls were hiding something and also since those capes were really long, it could've cause some of them to stumble. Also, Shandi, I agree with what you said about the judging panel, I think having a panel of judges that consists of males and females not only makes it more real but also, more even.
was disappointed by your presentation ... i actually searched for your review vid bcoz i always loved the reviews u did with suzie.... wish you cudve picked a quieter time to make the video (i do realize u r busy) ... you appeared very casual standing with a notebook and some scriblings which i wudve thought u wudve gone thru b4 the video but u were unable to read ur own writing, was expecting a more detailed video of ur view of the contestants, their answers, individula presentations of the contestants during prelims and finals etc ... was a little rushed for me... i dont mean to offend , just being constructive becoz i take u seriously ... your dress looks very pretty
Hiiii. Great review. Btw Myanmar did make it to top 21. Also I agree with Peru placing higher or even winning. About the channel not being that accessible, I agree. Most cable packages don't include it, so you might have to add the channel to your package and sometimes people can't afford that. In my case I was not going to pay extra to add the channel, so ended up watching the pageant on a Spanish network and it was terrible. It takes away the magical and exciting aspect of it, because everything is translated. Anyways, I agree with all u said hehe. Btw where's Sussie?? I miss ur reviews together. ;)
Omg Shandi! Argentina did make it to top 21. By the way, they had to wear capes to avoid getting removed from prime time slot to late night slot because the swimsuit were of Brazilian variety and it was too much skin show for primetime.
Always look forward to your recaps. Some of my thoughts: -I liked this opening number better as it actually featured the delegates rather than them just walking down the runway and get 2 seconds of camera time each. The dancing was surprisingly good for a majority not being dancers. I still wish the national costumes were somehow incorporated into the opening. -I do agree about having both men and women on the judges panel. -I think they called them out in groups of 7, due to social distancing as they had to space them out, plus I also think it fits the theme of getting three 7's on a slot machine. -supposedly the "robes/capes" were to cover the behinds of the girls as they were considered "skimpy" by US television standards or something to that effect. I think if that was the issue, they should have had bottoms made more "appropriate" and used sarongs or capes similar to what was used in Universe 2002 and USA 2003, not sure what those are technically called. -some of the gags/face cracks were the exclusion of South Africa, Canada, Chile, and Nepal from top 21. -the three hour telecast was too long, if they were going to keep that length of the broadcast, they should have had all 21 compete in both swimsuit and gowns similar to 2018 and 2019. -Peru nailed both Q&A rounds so I was shocked that Mexico won as the trend of the IMG winners were more focused on the speaking ability of the contestants. Mexico was a good choice but the fact that she didn't deliver strong answers like Catriona or Zozibini did, while Peru gave her answers like the aforementioned queens did, led me to believe that they were going to crown Peru. -Olivia C makes a better backstage commentator rather than onstage host. Cheslie should host on stage with whoever hosts the 70th edition. Also, Olivia's face after announcing Peru as 2nd runner up was priceless.

I was kind of surprised with results, even though Mexico was always on my list, I think Miss Peru shone a bit brighter than the others that night, I really thought she was going to win the crown

Susie is very career-driven and I think Shandi is just in another stage of life now. She has kids. You can tell by her Instagram posts they’re her entire world and she’s prioritizing their childhood. As a mom, I completely agree and would love to do the same for my child.
Was really looking forward to seeing both Shandi and Susie do this recap together. I was hoping Shandi would address that. I agree that the judging panel should be men and women. However I think having all women is a good move as well. I don't believe it discredits the decisions made on the night in any way. Mexico's win shocked a lot people. Understandably so, but people forget that the judges are the same throughout the competition now. After the judges would have seen them all in interview, prelims and finals night, only they would truly know who's the best person for the job. It's no longer about the best onstage performer.
Excellent review! Totally agree with your perception!! I’m a guy and totally agree with what you say about those robes/ capes covering their well worked legs/butt !? Why!? They should have been allowed to take them off completely! And also the lighting in the introduction of the swimsuits section- so BAD! Costa Rica and Puerto Rico (stunning) not making it into the top five - I was like WTF!? No, no! (Very competitive year though!) I wanted Nepal, South Africa, Canada, Rumania to place at least top 21 :-( Anyway, It was broadcasted through Telemundo but not in the regular primetime NBC network!?! What’s going on!? Hard to find a freaking channel to watch it on?!!! Also, all different questions at the end lost momentum and impact and less level of comparison for the judges and stuff. I believeThe answers this year lacked strength, timing in comparison with last 2 years which have been on FIRE. Should be Same final question and more participation from the beginning as they were doing in previews years to get to know them better. Thanks for your review and point of view!

I heard someone said the swimsuits were too revealing for Tv so they had to cover up. Idk if that’s true but I can see that as a reason
