WBZ had already begun to go downhill when the Eyewitness News branding was drop. The switch to CBS would be the beginning of the end.

WBZ-TV lost its way beginning in the early 1990s; but the station is doing rather well now.

I think "Frasier," was the only show I remember this year.
More than a switch to CBS, the network itself bought WBZ Channel 4, as did other Group W/Westinghouse stations
Man NBC surely has lost it way....it was a better network back than vs today
