Years ago my husband announced he was leaving & handed me cash to start divorce. I was being so strong and telling myself it was for the best, etc. Then one morning in the shower I just collapsed on the floor, water pouring over my head, & cried like a baby. 😢 Suddenly an old song from my school days popped into my head - The New 23rd Psalm. "🎶 🎶 Because the Lord is my shepherd, I have everything that I need... 🎶 🎶" That song has meant everything to me since then & has gotten me thru many hard times. It will be sung at my funeral. Music speaks to the soul when the heart is breaking! 💖 (PS: While going through that divorce, while I was totally uninterested in EVER dating again, a very nice man was introduced to me. We've now been happily married for almost 36 years! God always opens a window, don't ya know. 🤗)
YES! It is the Holy Spirit pouring over him! To heal his Soul, to comfort him, to direct him to look to Jesus! Jesus Promised, He will never ever leave us or forsake us, He is with us every second of our lives :)

People that have never suffered with depression, have no idea what people go through that do suffer from it. I go through bouts of depression, sometimes much worse then others. Really gets my goat when someone says just snap out of it, i feel like breaking both their legs, and tell them to walk it off. If it were only that easy,snap your fingers and it all goes away. Keep doing what your doing James. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel, but sometimes its very hard to see it, but its always there. God Bless you man

Hey James I’m a 53 yo female, mental illness has been a part of my life always. My whole family have suffered from it. The gentleman that originally wrote this hymn wrote it after tragically losing his children… he was on board a ship and just gazed out over the ocean and still felt the Holy Spirit move him to write down this hymn of praise to God even though He called this man’s children Home. Truly an incredible story of spiritual obedience and praise to our mighty God.

I highly recommend listening to this song on repeat while just surrendering to your higher power, especially in moments when you are struggling. There is so much power in this song and in rendition in particular. They filmed this in the Austrian Alps, which is so fitting because the poem this hymn was created from was written by a Swede many, many years ago after watching a thunderstorm over the mountains where he lived. We all have struggles, you are not alone. Also, I find that the less connected I feel with my Higher Power the hungrier I feel, so maybe you already know your answer.

As much as I love all of Home Free's songs, this is definately my favorite and the one I keep coming back to over and over again, I can't get enough of it. Not only is it just beautiful as all their songs are but it's one of the few that I am aware of where Adam isn't beat boxing and we get to hear his lovely voice as well. JB, this was my Grandfather's favorite hymn. When I was a little kid, we'd visit him and my Grandmother, and every morning he'd go around singing it as he got ready to go about his day. He was a very godly man, and I wish he were around long enough for me to marvel with him at deep theological questions such as whether regeneration precedes faith, whether or not there's a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, or what the nature of free will is and how it coexists with God's sovereign decree. But, as much as I wish for that, what I would most like to do with him if he were here is just marvel at the gospel. As beautiful as this arrangement is, Home Free did everyone a disservice by leaving out the most important verse of this wonderful hymn: "And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin." That's the gospel, JB. In a just world, it should have been me who drank the cup of God's wrath against my sin, but Christ drank it in full so I don't have to. I don't know if you can say the same right now because I don't know your heart. If you repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, He will be faithful and just to forgive you of your sins too. I was very depressed years ago and I remember looking out the window and looking at a field of flowers and thinking that it was all a lie, I see the beauty but I know the world is hurting and people are suffering. I had a dream that night and my grandfather came to me and told me that I was wrong, that it was all beautiful and that I just didn’t understand. So I try to carry that with me every day and I’ve trusted in a power higher than my eyes and understanding. We have to choose to accept gods gifts and be happy. I was in depression for 3 long years. Listen to praise and worship music every day, forgive EVERYONE who has ever hurt you and pray for their good. Read the Psalms everyday, and talk to God all the time. I promise you, God will lift that spirit of depression and anxiety off of you just like He did for me. He is no respecter of persons, what He did for me, He will do for you! When you are in "The Valley", do not stop.....keep going...God Bless you:)

A few years ago I was in really bad way, but The Good Lord pulled me out of that terrible time! I look back now over the last 50+ years and can pick out countless times where His mighty stretched out arm protected me from major harm… even from myself! Divine interventions, thank The Lord!!! God will help you, just ask, and believe! 🙏

I was in depression for 3 long years. Listen to praise and worship music every day, forgive EVERYONE who has ever hurt you and pray for their good. Read the Psalms everyday, and talk to God all the time. I promise you, God will lift that spirit of depression and anxiety off of you just like He did for me. He is no respecter of persons, what He did for me, He will do for you! When you are in "The Valley", do not stop.....keep going...God Bless you:)
