Well we have 2 of the USA biggest deveiloper that call it home Youngstown's problem us lack of a corporate sponsor ship I moved away 15 years ago to see the vacant loys ; better then a deteriorating structors. The city as a whole looks like a scrap yard. I hated I told everyone who listen I'm from the Beautiful City of Youngstown; I lied.
Anytime a CVS, Rite Aid, or a Walgreens close a store. Then Dollar General, Dollar Tree, or a Family Dollar will move into a drugstore building that is closed permanently. I live in the Detroit, Michigan area. And usually this is what happens to the inner city drugstore building.
CVS on Park Ave. in Youngstown is closing. The store’s last day is Friday, Jan. 10. Store officials are working to move employees to nearby locations. Pharmacy customers’ prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS on 2846 Mahoning Ave. The reason for the closure came after a review of financial performance. Officials say they remain committed to the Youngstown area
That's right over by the badass abandoned apartment building that you can see from all over the other side of town. I seen it in this video in the backgroud
That CVS pharmacy was one of the largest stops for YSU students who didn’t have access to cars, this was a pharmacy and general store mix and besides the “financial review” reason we got we have no idea why it closed. The closest locations we have to campus are a few miles out, making the only pharmacy for non-driving residential students the Walmart that the campus shuttle stops at
What's sad is they went through alot to open this CVS to bring a pharmacy to YSU campus. They even had to get creative in their design so the loading docks and dumpsters wouldn't face the gardens of their next door neighbor Stambaugh Auditorium. Shame it was all for naught.
RENTnerd87 Right! It was an easy stop for quick medications that students need and couldn’t wait until the Friday and Saturday shuttles for as well as a place for so many other necessities like basic food and cleaning while just being a ten minute walk at most. YSU has been trying to patch up the hole a little bit with things like a partnership with Giant Eagle for grocery delivery on campus, but so far nothing has really matched the convenience
I go to YSU right up the street, and I was really disappointed when I found out this CVS was closing. It was super convenient for just about everything!
My family are freinds with the Captain of the local fire department, and she said that this place might be torn down and replaced with a Panda express, a Japoltla, or a Denny's.
CVS is known to close stores if they are underperforming. This is in an effort to keep losses lower instead of like most companies that leave underperforming places open and that tanks the company.
Hey Wallie,it’s very rare to see a closed CVS Pharmacy anywhere.I’m thinking maybe they opened a newer one nearby perhaps.Nice window shots too!.Very uncommon to see any pharmacy closed.Have a great holiday all of you!.😎
No. Nearest pharmacy would be at least 5 miles north. Other than Youngstown State University and Saint Elizabeth's/Mercy Health, while the location is great, the surrounding neighbourhood demographics are awful.
@@leedaniels7196 the median average income of the surrounding census tracts and the concurrent declining population of those census tracks prevented CVS from making a profit at that store. Other than being adjacent to Youngstown State University and Saint Elizabeth's/Mercy Health, the volume/foot traffic wasn't there for a sustainable business model. Unfortunately, the closing of the CVS exerbates the food desert for residents and Youngstown State students on the North Side of Youngstown. There are a number of CVS stores that have closed within the Youngstown city limits on the West Side (Mahoning Avenue) and the South Side (Market Street).
Ryan Wolff Wow,interesting to know that.It sounds like that in that area the population is decreasing.Tbh I haven’t heard of any CVS closing in some time now.Only once have I ever seen a closed CVS store and it was in my town ten years ago because they built a new one, around the corner from the old one. There are four of them within a ten minute drive within each other, and a fifth one inside a Target store. There are also three Walgreens and a Rite Aid in this same area.
This was the second CVS in Youngstown that closed.. but they do have a right aid on Belmont and a Walgreens.. but they did had a one on east side of Youngstown.. now it's a family dollar .. but there's more abandon builds in the all sides of this town..
Wallie, There is a Tim Horton's on Belmont Ave in Liberty township Youngstown area (in front of Walmart) that just recently closed. Same with the Tim Hortons in Girard Ohio. They both closed due to lack of business. They weren't even open 1 year in that area.
Brendan Butler that’s what I was hoping for. There was a Tim Hortons in Hermitage but it closed also. So I have to drive to Salem or East Liverpool if I want Tim Hortons.
YOUNGSTOWN -The CVS Pharmacy, 311 Park Ave., near Stambaugh Auditorium will close Jan. 10, assistant manager Clarissa Hall confirmed. The closure is the result of insufficient sales at the location, she said.
What's sad is they went through alot to open this CVS to bring a pharmacy to YSU campus. They even had to get creative in their design so the loading docks and dumpsters wouldn't face the gardens of their next door neighbor Stambaugh Auditorium. Shame it was all for naught. They were only open less than 9 years
Wow, I didnt know that CVS had closed. I used to work right by there and used to go in there all the time. I think it was a busy store. I wonder why they closed.
Were I'm from CVS stores do alright as a pharmacy/drug store. Nowhere near as good as Walmart. But CVS has better customer courtesy. I guess that's nothing new with Walmart's concern. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS !!
I've seen your other videos recently, they're somewhat interesting. It's warm here in Nashville, Tennessee. I hope you, and your better half are doing well in The COVID-19 World. Gosh I miss checking out, live broadcasts of Nashville Predators Hockey. You probably feel the same way, about The Pittsburgh Penguins. I really hate that team but, I like your videos though.
There's a couple places for sale In austintown ohio an old cashland, old antones that moved down the street, the old Kmart is down there in austintown but uhaul took it over
That would be awesome. I love how YSU has expanded and grown since I graduated from there. I went to Youngstown yesterday to visit my parents and of course had to stop by C Staples and YSU has a Barnes and Noble, Chipotle and a lot of housing. 💕💕💕
Aye theres an abandoned train station in lowevile it's right on the other side of youngstown shout out Northside theres an abandoned maverick tubing factory in the east side u can ride by the old plaza that's just a big empty concrete slab now all kinds of old fascinating things in the valley yes its deplorable but if u into stuff like this theres alot to see
I was born and raised in Youngstown, though I moved away in 1975. That said, I simply don’t understand the point of these videos. I’ve seen a couple (a McDonalds and a Marathon station) previously. I believe these folks aren’t even from Youngstown. I do not understand how it’s noteworthy that an area that’s been devastated for 30 since it’s primary employer closed would have abandoned buildings. They offer no history or context about the business closure or the neighborhood or even why these conditions exist. I don’t get it.
So pump to find out there is a UA-camr that does exploring abandoned places in ohio. I live in Youngstown Ohio also and drive past this place sometimes.
Seems like all of Youngstown is permanently closed.
Many run down buildings
This accurate
I live there, the city is a mess we can't tear the old structures down fast enough! Before they become infested with zombie raccoons!
Zombie Trash Pandas

I live right around the corner from this one, it closed because of theft. Sad, I was mad when they closed it

Been a minute since I've seen an abandoned CVS! Nice find!

Hey Wallie! Hope you and Kayla are keeping safe during this time. Keep up the great work!
All my youngstowners throw it up
🙌👍
I’ve been seeing more abandoned Walgreens than abandoned CVS. Great find Wallie!
I used to go to that CVS all the time when I lived on the Northside 😩. Memories man..
An article online said it was closed due to the stores financial performance.
Staff were offered positions to the nearby CVS 5 miles away
The hospital is I believe 2 streets down from there that's probably how the sirens just stopped

The sirens are because you are across the street from St Elizabeth/Mercy Health hospital
I ain't been home in about 5 years people say theres nothing left , jeez Youngstown make a comeback
I go to YSU right up the street, and I was really disappointed when I found out this CVS was closing. It was super convenient for just about everything!
Go Penguins 🐧💕
It was 1 of 46 pharmacies that CVS closed nationwide that were underperforming.
I remember picking up a newspaper for my grandfather at that CVS while he was in the hospital back in August of 2017. The hospital is close by.
Wow, one of the cleanest abandoned structures I've seen; be safe a double bad hair day, hah!
i live close to a cvs that's been abandoned for years. it just happens to be located on the opposite corner from where the first kmart got torn down.
man i was hopeing to get my Bandaids but this CVS Is Permanently closed lol happy early memorial day,
My family are freinds with the Captain of the local fire department, and she said that this place might be torn down and replaced with a Panda express, a Japoltla, or a Denny's.
My Father said his town died 40 yrs ago!
He is correct😢😢🕵️♀️🕵️♀️
Next door to Stambaugh Auditorium. Not far from the YSU campus (where I went to college) and St. E’s hospital.
Yep I graduated from YSU and Ursuline
We enjoy everything you do! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
...AND...the ELECTRIC is STILL ON TOO !!
I work at cvs so this is interesting
Oh my goodness, I live in Youngstown! How cool!
Awesome job man can't wait 4 more!
The alternate CVS on the West Side is no where near as good as this one. It has a small parking lot, and no drive thru Pharmacy.
CVS is very expensive so it doesn't surprise me that it closed
The sirens you heard is from St. Elizabeth Hospital right down the street from there.
I hope you doing fine WallieB26

Hey Wallie,it’s very rare to see a closed CVS Pharmacy anywhere.I’m thinking maybe they opened a newer one nearby perhaps.Nice window shots too!.Very uncommon to see any pharmacy closed.Have a great holiday all of you!.😎
I figured there were other pharmacies nearby because nowadays there are multiple pharmacies within minutes of each other.
No. Nearest pharmacy would be at least 5 miles north. Other than Youngstown State University and Saint Elizabeth's/Mercy Health, while the location is great, the surrounding neighbourhood demographics are awful.
Ryan Wolff Neighborhood demographics meaning the neighborhood isn’t really nice or safe?.
@@leedaniels7196 the median average income of the surrounding census tracts and the concurrent declining population of those census tracks prevented CVS from making a profit at that store. Can't even pick up a gallon or milk or prescriptions dang it. It has been awhile since i been in downtown Youngstown. Thanks for the videos.
I went to ysu for a year in 17 and 18, walked to that CVS many times from the dorm
Wow I have never seen an abandoned cvs pharmacy before
Wallie, There is a Tim Horton's on Belmont Ave in Liberty township Youngstown area (in front of Walmart) that just recently closed. Same with the Tim Hortons in Girard Ohio. They both closed due to lack of business. They weren't even open 1 year in that area.
Seems like it took longer to build the one on Belmont than the time it was actually open. It was a terrible location for that kind of place.
They should’ve opened on Rt 224, then they would have gotten more business
Brendan Butler that’s what I was hoping for. There was a Tim Hortons in Hermitage but it closed also. So I have to drive to Salem or East Liverpool if I want Tim Hortons.
Tim Hortons coffee and pastries taste nasty. Starbucks is so much better. When I saw they were building one I knew it was going to close. 🇨🇦
That was my 1st official look at the abandoned cvs pharmacy surprising never got to see one before
The Buffalo Niagara region has quite a few dead CVS stores that the chain closed when a replacement store was built.
Used to deliver to this place a lot for work. Still surprised at it closing. Dunno how I came across this video, but neat stuff.

Hello 👋 WallieB “First Time Caller Long Time Listener” Excellent Video & Stay Awesome 😎 Thank You!
I think you're just awesome people

They should build a new Walgreens right here on Fifth Avenue in Youngstown!

Did you already film this building once before
@WallieB26 Awesome video!!!!!!!
Wow, I didnt know that CVS had closed. I used to work right by there and used to go in there all the time. I think it was a busy store. I wonder why they closed.
Living in warren I didn’t know this place was abandoned
I live in Youngstown I'm like about 17mins away from that CVS
Were I'm from CVS stores do alright as a pharmacy/drug store. Nowhere near as good as Walmart. But CVS has better customer courtesy. I guess that's nothing new with Walmart's concern. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS !!
Built that along with all the bottom Dollars..less then 10 yrs ago..CVS said it was a non profitable store..

@WallieB26 - I used to go to that CVS frequently because it was by campus!

It has not been closed long but it was so many car accidents that happened at that corner.
all the cvs locacatins (2) both look like this one and are still operating
Great this video 💓 abandoned location
YSU football stadium in the background. Possibly, YSU purchased the property for university expansion.
That would be awesome. I love how YSU has expanded and grown since I graduated from there. I went to Youngstown yesterday to visit my parents and of course had to stop by C Staples and YSU has a Barnes and Noble, Chipotle and a lot of housing. 💕💕💕
I went to find the button today but it was gone, I think there is another closed CVS on Mahoning.
Gotta be careful in Youngstown dude, especially the more rundown parts.
I live in Youngstown and it isn’t bad.
Great video stay safe
You have a sound system. Nice

Just subscribed....nice video bro
I didn't know they closed, that's right by ysu/downtown/St. Elizabeth's. Wow
It was closed down a few months ago. I wouldn’t say it’s been abandoned but carry on.
Crazy because that place isn't that old maybe less than 10years
No disrespect to Kayla, but it seems every day is a bad hair day or its just blown around
Who have not. I need to go to bed
walgreens Midlothian & south ave closed down
Can't figure out that one. I always thought the CVS across the street would of closed first.
Alot of crime, people shop and steal more than they buy. So they close the store. Stop loosing money. High crime area. Low income.
What is the music at the end?

Be glad you don't any more 😄
You and 80,000 others.....🐁🗣🗣

So pump to find out there is a UA-camr that does exploring abandoned places in ohio. I live in Youngstown Ohio also and drive past this place sometimes.
The place is gutted and empty inside; hopefully it becomes something else soon.
can you explore abandoned house in cleveland and factories too
The Yo got so many abandon buildings man
Their is a few abandoned places here. Need any ideas or places hit me up
Yeah like all the Bottom Dollar Grocery stores that only lasted a year or so.I miss them.
Maxell cassettes are at CVS.
Word on the street is they closed because they kept getting robbed so much
The streets lied. It was due to poor sales.
Couple of abandoned Walgreens in Akron Ohio
