The New Travel YES. Yes yes yes. My partner is First Nations, and seriously, he and his family have had to deal with ALL the stuff you hear about happening to black people in the US. (As one random example, he’s had the police totally beat him up for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. He was walking along the side of the road, and they pulled over, pulled him into the woods, and beat the shit out of him.) The difference is, here in Canada, we feel pretty smug about our “lack of racism”. In the US, at least, they talk about their issues with it. (I get there are some Canadians who understand it-I’m generalizing. But I used to feel pretty smug over the US before I met my partner.) (Edited for spelling mistake.)

@@KayKayBayForever I'm a black American and I've been to Canada quite a few times, for New Years I went to Montreal and I ended up having to break up a racially charged fight where a white guy attacked a black guy for making out with a white girl. A couple of other black people I met said that they deal with shit all the time in the city including police randomly stopping them but that it's neeeeever talked about. Here in the US we're always sold the idea that Canada is a lot more tolerant than us to the point where racism doesn't happen. Like you said I think we're just more open about it here...
