When I was young, late 70’s… my Mom would drive us up to Pyramid and we would fish the overflow lake on the east side of I-5. She would drop us off, and we would hike down to the lake with our float tubes and one rod, a few Wiggle Warts, and catch plenty of big largemouth. A big largemouth in those days was 7 - 8 lbs. and we caught a bunch of them. Probably around 1979, the Sheriff finally caught us and put a stop to our fun. We got a ticket for being a pedestrian on the interstate, boating without a life jacket…. The float tube seemed pretty safe but nope. Anyway we had a lot of fun up there, and it was a shame to get tossed. We did start hiking down to main lake Pyramid from the rest stop. Occasionally we would hike down to the dam and fish for stripers with AC plugs. They were stocking trout every week and they liked that rainbow trout AC plug! Enjoyed your video!
