9:00 Something else to note is that the energy density required for planes might be reached with the 2-5x increase in energy storage. This would be amazing for the environment. I hope this work is accelerated & we get this out onto the market ASAP!
That is a looong way off though. Even if these become mainstream in 2025, it might not be until 2040+ for airplanes to be used commercially transporting people or cargo with electric engines. I am sure there will be some personal crafts and experimental made, but don't expect sweeping environmentally friendly jets popping into existence the moment these batteries are popularized.
It's not possible. It's not CHEMICALLY possible. The highest energy density we have ever observed is hydrogen gas, and it would have to be compressed to nearly a liquid. There's no way this battery is possible in my opinion.

@@ares7738 I bought it for $1020 from JB August 2018 and did my final Price claim in August this year with some eBay listing at ~ 400 (I can check later). That's ~600$ back. Regarding the TouchScreen sometimes it jumped around or would scroll slowly itself, if I had my finger still in one spot. Idk if that was normal but I live with it. Regarding battery I'm getting 4-5 normal usage. I have bad habit of cramming all the Internal storage full with apps etc and running passively in background So maybe that affects it… Cameras are fine but Front camera seems too soft or over-beautified. Rear camera takes a good 1-2 seconds to be 'done' - again could be my lack of storage… Water resistance works. I dunked in water once, washed off some gunk, also took a shower with it. For my next phone I'll probably consider a smaller phone than the 6'1 with Fingerprint on front of screen again. The rear finger scanner trend was fun while it lasted. Otherwise good phone My ideal phone would also have IR blaster, and symmetric stereo speaker set up (not these current crappy bottom speaker & earpiece set up) - and bigger battery
Hybrids are still more energy efficient than EVs. Until we can produce, distribute, and store electricity more efficiently than fossil fuels can EVs will be wasteful in comparison.
Khatharr Malkavian well the problem of storing would be solved if this battery really is as good as it’s claimed to be. The next problem would be to distribute those energies in even the remotest of areas and in America I would assume you have even more remote areas. And then the production of that energy people don’t like the thought of that but we probably need to go back to nuclear power to get that much energy until we develop other climate friendly energy producers.
my w810i after all these years looks kind of newish, since i dont us eit much.. the battery lasts for 2 weeks, if i turn the phone off at night... yeah 3310 was built like a tank and 5510.. but i think w810i is def one of the greatest cellphones ever created... what a tradegy that Nokia didnt keep up and they weren't greedy like other companies... that was their downfall, i think i saw in some documentary, how ceos actaully cried announcing their acquition...

Nope. Put your tongue on a D cell battery. ...or a C, a AA, or AAA. Of course you’ll need a jumper to get +/- within reach of your tongue, but they’re all 1.5v and basically inert “feelwise”. 9v battery? Yes! But you’d need five or six of those jugs to make a party prank.

@Nio Jacobs Thunderf00t isn't a random internet guy, he's established with legit science credentials. I don't always agree with him, and in this particular video I don't agree because he didn't debunk neither the process of the solid state battery nor the materials. He just seemed fixated on energy density and energy release, he didn't go into the particulars of why this battery cannot do what the claims being made for it I am cautiously optimistic, mainly because Goodenough is involved. But as it's been pointed out in the video this isn't the first hyped new battery technology that ended up nowhere.

How come come we never heard Sheldon and Leonard talk about this stuff. Weren't they good enough to know about it? Or would only and engineer like Howard know about it?
A fun fact about the use of electroplating in ancient times. Actually the Moche culture in Peru are probably the first culture to knowingly use the process (however without understanding the physics behind it obviously). By putting copper objects in an acidic solution with gold they were able to make very thin and uniform gold sheathing. That was a conclusion made by a research done I think in the 1970s, where by analyzing the artifacts the researches noticed that the gold plating followed microscopic imperfections on the copper object, which would be impossible to do with conventional plating techniques of the time. They also tested the hypothesis of simply "dipping" the object into molten gold and showed that the results were inconsistent with the quality from the original objects.

@@incognitotorpedo42 there are 2 reasons a lot of people are very suspicious of this battery. 1) It needs graphene to hold itself together which should be an indicator of how durable this thing really needs to be in order to work and... 2) Assuming we can fix our idea for mass graphene consumption for batteries... we know what happens when lithium ion batteries go wrong... what happens when these things go wrong? Regardless, I believe the reward far outweighs the risk, progression of human technologies for the betterment of lives should be noted.
@@velnz5475 i don't see what the problem is with graphene but your 2nd point isn't really an issue. And companies know to test the battery for safety cause of related major incidents in the past such as the exploding Note phones.

Man amongst all the popularized technological innovations pioneers, John B. Goodenough deserves to be cheered and acknowledged for his contributions especially when this new battery becomes the standard for powering everything that uses batteries. Our growing dependency on mobile devices will be essential navigating a world increasingly reliant on electronics and interactive technology. This development couldn't have come at a better time and thankfully didn't the world needs more brilliant people like him.
A volt or two can't create any sensation in your hand. It may not even be enough voltage to be felt on your tongue. That usually only works with a 9V battery. It's possible that the people back then had no idea that they even created a battery. It could have been used for something different entirely. We just now recognize it's electrical properties.
Dismissing the Baghdad "battery" because it only produced 1-2V is Notgoodenough. Firstly, it was a CELL not a "battery". So what is the voltage of a NiMH cell or an alkaline cell or many of the other current technologies? 1.2 -1.5V. Lithium button cells manage 3V. Not much different. They could have connected 6 of them into a .... Battery. That would be useful ! Most obvious game changer for that time would have been artificial light. There are sumarian engravings which look a lot like an incandescent light bulb. That is perfectly credible, so quit the smart dismissive comments. Joe seems equally naive about the benefits of electric vehicles, which sadly still need a SOURCE of energy.

Something else to note is that the energy density required for planes might be reached with the 2-5x increase in energy storage. This would be amazing for the environment. I hope this work is accelerated & we get this out onto the market ASAP!
Good point Konii!

Regarding the TouchScreen sometimes it jumped around or would scroll slowly itself, if I had my finger still in one spot. Idk if that was normal but I live with it.
Regarding battery I'm getting 4-5 normal usage. I have bad habit of cramming all the Internal storage full with apps etc and running passively in background So maybe that affects it…
Cameras are fine but Front camera seems too soft or over-beautified. Rear camera takes a good 1-2 seconds to be 'done' - again could be my lack of storage…

I think heavy industrial vehicles and military vehicles (land/air/sea) will use petrolium even electric motor / solid batteries take over.

A volt or two can't create any sensation in your hand. It may not even be enough voltage to be felt on your tongue. That usually only works with a 9V battery. It's possible that the people back then had no idea that they even created a battery. It could have been used for something different entirely. We just now recognize it's electrical properties.
There's Goodenough but then there's Notgoodenough
