    I love my 2016 Commander XT 800. Great review, thanks for posting. I agree with your comments about the mileage. I've never come close to running out of gas, even on long trips.

    I just bought one. Wheel spacers, lift, light bar, roof, winch, fender flares, etc. 1000 XT. Holy shit so much fun.

    Congrats man. I have a 2013 Commander 1000xt. Can Am's are strong in power and built tough. Have fun don't be afraid to beat it, it will take it. P.S you will never use the over ride button....

    I had a 2015 Can am Commander 800R viper red color. I very much liked the machine but I traded it in for a 2017 570 Polaris Razor S. Here was my reasons for trading in my Commander. I service my own machines, whether it is my pickup or my skidloader, as much as I can. When it was getting close to servicing my Can am, you have to pull the passenger side plastic from your console along with pulling out your passenger seat to get to the oil filter (which is not a spin on filter by the way). The engine is obviously completely surrounded by your plastic console. This might not be a huge issue but only 3 of the wheels are applied for braking. No caliper on one of the rear wheels. My own opinion here but I thought the machine was definitely plenty loud when I got my going around 35+mph. No power steering in The base R models but really not much of an issue with that as well. The 570 Razor S that I now has power steering, a more opened up easy access engine for quicker service, runs quiet but still has plenty of pop for what I do with it. Another excellent machine for what you get for the money. I don't bounce my machines off of rocks or race em so I'm not really looking at paying a bunch of money for more CC's. They are all nice machines as long as people respect them and treat em right. I still like the Can Am commander's and wouldn't mind having another one someday but I'm trying put Polaris for awhile. Every brand and model of anything has it's pros and cons so who knows, maybe I'll go back and get a commander again

    Great drink. Lol. I love the rig bro. Very nice. Be safe and have fun man. I'm looking for a side by side myself. That's what get me here. You should do another review so we can see how it held up. Thanks for the video.

    Helpful tips 1) get the factory fender flares (that come on the XT model). Without them, every puddle and piece of dirt finds it way onto your lap. 2) get the sport-low electrical harness that allows you to run sport mode in low range. 3) Siezmik mirrors are worth every penny. 4) Run low range on the trails unless you are typically going over 40 on the trails. Running high range and low speeds is the quickest way to cook your belt. 5) it's a fun toy - enjoy it!

      @johnSR32 6 років тому

      "Run low range on the trails unless you are typically going over 40 on the trails. Running high range and low speeds is the quickest way to cook your belt"
      You are the second person to say that. Can you explain? I have about 24Hours on my 800DPS

    • @FFL-vg9ro
      @FFL-vg9ro 6 років тому +3

      Nearly all blown belts are the result of the belt overheating and delaminating. Keep the belt temp under 180 degrees and it wil last a few thousand miles. If the belt gets over 200 degrees for very long, the life is shortened to a few hundred miles. Over 220 degrees and it will blow very soon.
      Things that overheat a belt.
      1) running wide open for several miles.
      2) constant sand dunes without allowing cool down time
      3) high loads on the belt, like mud runs in high gear, trying to get unstuck in high gear, slow steep climbs in high gear.
      Imagine how quickly you would toast the clutch on a manual trans truck by pulling a trailer up a slow steep hill starting in 4th gear. The clutch would slip and glaze and toast itself.

    I normally don't comment but I have a '16 1000 and ya it's fast and comfortable and you can't beat the ride. But, the quality is just not there. Keep an eye on those rear torsion bar bolts and the tire rod ends bend like butter.

    So I am thinking about this unit for my farm. I do light hauling (brush, tools, bales of hay every now and then but not often), pull trailers every now and then. I do short runs, like 5-10 minutes. Need it to idle good for extended periods, also would need to make tight turns.
    I love the lay out and the bed seems plenty big and I hate the John deer gators.
    Anyway, what do you think?

    Did u know u can take the seats out and use them as a chair if ur out fishing ? There made to come out and to be used outside the machine. I like that option because we like to take off and go down to the river fishing.

    OK owner, just how big of a deal is not having DPS/power stearing. Do you wish you have bought the next model up with DPS, or are you still good with the base model you purchased. Just wondering because I'm looking at this model also. Thanks.....
