This song takes me back to a long drive back home from dropping off a new girlfriend I'd dated for just a few weeks. I was in the USAF in England, she was flying back home to the states. We promised to keep writing and feed the relationship from a long distance. It was 1972 way before the tech we have today. As I drove back to where I was living off base, it began to rain. It was at that exact moment I knew I'd never see her again. I cried. Through my tears and the rain on my windshield I could hardly see the road ahead. Two, maybe three letters then nothing. Thanks Cas for again capturing feelings from long ago.
You capture retrospect and sorrow all too well…I really admire laying it out there! You have an incredible ability to write such heart stirring songs that reflect deeply! 👏👏👏👏
This is beautiful, and resonates with me a lot. I lost a friend recently to mental health issues, and think every day about how I wish I'd known and done more. Thank you for sharing something so personal. 🥺🙏
Beautiful original song Cas!!! You seem to effortlessly play and sing your very storied lyrics songs my friend 🤗 loved it! Thanks much for sharing 🙏. Steve
I can certainly identify with this song! We are sometimes unaware of our friends' troubles, especially if they are good at disguising them. A friend of mine, who I'd known since school days, sadly took his own life. I had no idea he was so troubled. I still think of him often. A poignant song and you perform it with genuine feeling!
Truly beautiful and so painful. I do know that feeling of losing someone that maybe I could’ve saved. You captured the anguish in a beautiful song. You always find a great turn of phrase and an unexpected chord that lift it above the rest. 🎶🙌
