@timg5tm941 And to you! I pushed hard on the Saturday, but was hampered by not having an antenna for 40m for evening use. Paid for it on Sunday, struggling to find stations I had already worked. Hoping to do better next year 😊
Great stuff Tim. I have been swamped by noise for the last couple of weeks which along with the cold has kept me out of the shack. To top it all storm Bert has brought down my EFHW so my best antenna is down. It's going to be a long winter 😞. Never mind I will bounce back. 73 and thanks for keeping me entertained in the interim M7BLC.
Well done Tim👍...............im not into contesting myself but gave a few points away just operating search & pounce like yourself and ended up making a couple of hundred contacts in the end ..........great fun and conditions wernt too bad which was nice too
My concerns on working that amount of time are not so much the battery, it's going for a pee and having some food...if I'm up on the mountain over Maerdy, I usually pack up and go home for a pee!
You got a few more points than me Tim. I only did an hour in CQWW CW yesterday, and racked up just under 1,000 points. 5 W into Ampro 20 on a magmountn while parked up at Jack and Jill Windmills, Clayton. DX highlights were Alaska, Australia, Bonaire Island, Canada, Japan and quite a few US and Europe. Wish I could have stuck at it for longer as condx were decent. Wanted to set up on beach but yesterday's weather put me off a bit 😂 73 M3KXZ
Well done Tim! I didn’t do CQWW CW from the mobile this year but have done some dabbling on it in past years. Did a few hours Saturday and Sunday evenings here on 10, 15. and 20 from the home station with my 7300 and a simple end fed inverted L on 40, 20, and 15 ( half wave 40, full wave 20, 3/2 wave 15) and a 7/2 wave coax fed doublet on 10 (my 75 meter dipole with series 10 meter RG-59 75 ohm series matching section at the feedpoint). Last night 10 meters was spectacular around 2200UTC wide open to the entire Pacific rim, South America and the Caribbean all at once. Bodes well for the upcoming ARRL 10 meter contest. See you on there from my mobile. Also looking forward to the big three 160 meter CW contests from the mobile December Stew Perry, ARRL 160, and January CQWW160 CW! Does the Lil Tarheel do 160? You should give it a try, on a good shoreside location you may get out very well. For the last couple of years I have been running a nominal 13 foot 1960s vintage center loaded 2MHz marine band whip on my Tacoma 4x4 on 160, resonated on 160 with a series L base loading coil and 1500 pf shunt capacity across the feed point. Have made it out to Hawaii and across the pond to Europe and Madeira during 160 CW contests as well as SA and the Caribbean. And no external radials, just the truck body as the counterpoise. Being parked about 5 feet from 100 miles of Long Island Sound to my west certainly helps! Chris AJ1G Stonington CT
hi tim, love your videos of course, but sorry have to give this one a miss, contests hi hi. I do not use them, but there destroy my skeds, which i really look forward to, and not all my mates use cw. catch you next time. 73 good health.
I'm starting in CW, and am going to GOTA.
YOU are already "up and away"
Great stuff Tim
Thanks Peter!
No rush returning it mate - you seem to be having a blast with it! Great stuff
Thank you Tom!
Huzzah! I am 10th!
Congrats John!

Some great contacts there Tim, lots on 10m which is great to see, but even a few USA on 40m with such a small antenna is pretty good going. Well done👍
Thank you Kevan!

Well done Chris! I don’t think the 9ft whip and tarheel would be too hot on 160

@@timg5tm941 Pair it up with your other coil(s)!
Contesting is a fun way to push yourself and your equipment to the limit.
Agree mate
Well done, Tim!!
Thanks Mike!
Wow amazing contacts Tim 🙂👍
Thanks!
Hi Tim is the The Little Tarheel 2 better than the Atas 120A ?? what would you use with your 891 with a Mat 30 ATU
I prefer it to the atas as you can easily use a longer whip with it, which helps efficiency
