That is a cool effect, and easily achieved. My imagination is now running away with ideas. I am subscribing to reference this one again, when I am ready. There is still so much for me to absorb in the GIMP program.
Dude you are BY FAR the best GIMP/editor instructor I have watched. Anytime I need or want to do something in GIMP I come check your channel for help every time. Your explanations are perfect, love how you add how to use hot keys, everyone who likes to edit should watch you. If you had a class I could take I would in a heartbeat. Just incase anyone reading this comment hasn’t liked or subbed, GO DO IT NOW. (And no I’m not being paid to say this stuff, he just that good)
In unified transform mode, when I grab the top vertical compression tab and move down, it compresses both sides as well as the top. By the time anyone responds to this message, I will probably have figured out a solution, but it is frustrating to follow directions exactly as possible, but yet get results that do not match the tutorial. (Update) I found the solution to the above problem from a clue that Nick gave later in the tutorial. By holding down the shift key while dragging the vertical compression tab, I was able to isolate the compression to only the tab I was dragging.
Great. Yet, I think that the reflecting water should have some "bump" just to reduce the flatness effect. Right now I don't know how to do that but there must be a solution. Looking forward your next good tutorials.
Hey bro, got the new version, this doesn't work in the new version you need to pick the image you are wanting to look like an ocean reflection and put that in Aux input then the choose the one that looks like the ocean and put that in Aux2 output as if you choose both it doesn't work in the updated version, but thank you, I've made an amazing picture through your help, May have had to figure a few things myself but I knew I had something to look forward too in the end, been working on a photo for 4 days now, just finished😊
Honestly, that black and white picture for the wave effect could actually be used multiple times And since you already made it, would you be so kind and upload it? So we can use it
For those who have the following problem : the cropping cancels itself when doubling the image size I resolved it by going into the layer pannel, right clic on the current pannel and layer to image size. It should redimension the layer to the image size while keeping the image cropped (not sure if my explication are 100% accurate) I've no idea how to make it an automatic process, if someone could explain it I would be thankfull. Thank you for the video!
Not be nitpicky or anything, but would this have been any better if you had traced and cut out the water instead of just cropping, that way you could still see the ground level of the city?
how do you get that warp transform box on the lower left? I can't get it on my gimp and I can't adjust the brush strength, which is making the warps look like ass.
Not working brother😭😭, It literally made me to cry. I cropped the photo, And when i resize the canvas, the cropped photo is also coming . I checked everything. Also added alpha channel. No use. Pls help
Yes, I use Open Broadcaster to record these videos, Audacity to edit the audio, and I used Blender to edit the videos before I started using Premiere last year.
I was wondering if you have some special trick for the design that you can teach us about these programs, in a post for your blog it would be interesting, a greeting
I always come back to this video for water reflections.
Amazing, you seem so passionate and competent.

3 years late, but under filters>map>bump map you can add bump mapping to the water.

How can I make dublicate of a person of image
I don't really get what the use of the 2nd layer is (the one with that black and white stripe thing).
It's used as a patron to create the displacement effect. That's why once reached this effect the layer is no longer neccesary. Pardon for my english.
Oh right, I see now. Thanks
I can't find the warp tool.
Never mind i just installed the new version! :)
Are you back to using 2.10.x now? 🤔🙂
Yes I switched back to 2.10 :) They worked out some of the bugs so it's easier to work with now
