    We just had a great season of this in Wisconsin. The No snow on ice is rare. Always watch for Ice fishing "mole hills".

    Any time you are on ice with water underneath, you should have a set of safety ice picks. They come in pairs that sheath together and cost under $10. If the ice breaks under you and you need to get back on solid ice, these are vital.

    A tip regarding anchoring your wing on the ice: get an ice screw (the kind used by ice climbers). Works with a kite also.

    Wing with skates would be insane. Im already moving 25kmh+ with a snowboard at 11kt make sure your board or skis are waxed!

    Cancel that plane ticket to the Great White North. Find a big empty parking lot and put on your Rollerblades! Or, get on a longboard skateboard! Don't have to worry about how thick the parking lot is and whether you'll fall through (Haha).

      The Brewers Lot was tons of fun in Milwaukee. Nobody was tailgating, but when my skateboard ran over some well flattened bottle caps, that by the sound of it, I always thought I was loosing parts.
      Out of all surfaces to ride, concrete is my least favorite one. It's hard on gear and my old bones.

    We've been testing out different skates for ice kiting and winging. Hockey skates are great but definitely not ideal in rough ice. Nordic blades work well on rough ice but don't feel as "locked in" to the ice as hockey skates. A friend got Goalie skates and loves them since they are stiff for edging and have a much flatter blade than most hockey skates

    Can you Ice Wing upwind? If so at what angle?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  8 місяців тому

      100% and quite well for sure as there is little resistance. Higher angle than water.

    I've been on the ice and a cornfield with a three-meter training kite on skis. The wing will be much better. If you have any questions about the ice, wear a wet suit under your coat and get safety ice picks. Once you're going, you can cover a lot of distance fast. ua-cam.com/video/4e8UJxRFBVE/v-deo.html
