"It may be difficult for a person weighing under a 140 pounds to operate the hand pump beyond 2000 psi" ... of all the reviews , posts, comments I have see ... you are the only one that has mentioned that very important little detail. Thank thee
Gr8 vedio !! Thank u so much !! I'm new to pcps and i didn't know how to use the hand pump properly until i watched this vedio !! Tons of other stupid vedios on UA-cam about hand pumps were just a waste of time !! Thanks again 💜💜💛💙💛💚💗
I have found in my really limited experience that I would probably have both a scuba tank and a hand pump in the end.. Using a friends stuff (I'm still buying) I have found when out camping/hunting the pump is great. You're not shooting as much so it's convenient. When target shooting at the range though the pump quickly becomes a pain. The difference is in the amount of shooting you're going to do. If you plan on doing a lot you'll like the scuba tank, but it's not very portable but that's not a issue at the range. In the field with less shooting the pump rules because it's faaar easier to carry than the tank and still has the ability to fully charge if you do want to do some 'plinking'.. but be prepared to rest if you're an old guy like me. :)
I just bought an Umarex origin with a numeric hand pump even the first 10 strokes are incredibly hard to fill up in the pump seems to catch am I doing something wrong any input is appreciated.
I am in the process of pumping my Benjamin up for the first time. Never had a PCP before. That pump is a cardio machine for an out of shape fat ass like me that smokes Marlboro's. LOL. Glad my 100 Cu Ft bottle will arrive Tuesday.! A smooth running hand pump though!
I have a Benjamin pump. After 6 months, the upstroke progressively started to get heavier. Now I can't even lift it up. Suction keeps it from being lifted, as if the air intake on the higher stage is keeping it from taking air. Got any ideas what's happening inside?
@pyramydair Ok so what if I buy the Benjamin pump and want to buy a different pcp gun is it going to work and are the adapters of they make them cheep .
Thank you for the informative video. Is there any way to retro fit a real moisture filter at the intake on this pump? It's a decent unit for the money. However, it turns my Marauder into a squirt gun in my humid local climate.
The water filter needs to go between the gun and pump. eBay has them. High pressure air line oil/water filter. $50-$100. The brass $100 one is recommend by reputable airgun reviews on this biased video viewing platform
Wait...What? I'm an old man, I'm a trapshooter, I'm well versed in firearms, They had air guns when? My brain is doing a robin Williams imitation full coke.
New to pcp,s , it seems the grease on the shaft will fade eventually, in that case how and what do I lube it with and the manuel says DONT ALLOW OIL TO ENTER THE AIR INLET, TO WHAT INLET IS THIS REFFERING TO AS FAR AS LOCATION, ALL I SEE IS A SHAFT . MAKES ME AFRAID TO EVEN ATTEMPT ANYTHING CAUSE I KNOW AS ANYTHING LUBE WEARS OUT
How many shots can you get once the gun is charged? How many strokes are required from the pump to fill the gun? It's amazing you can get 3,000 psi out this thing! Thanks for the video.
Basically, thats the o-ring from the smallest rod of the pump, compressing all the air and sealing it. That O-ring is damaged and it needs to be changed and re-lubed. :)
I wish someone would offer a larger volume pump that works in reverse as an alternative to regular pumps. If you can pull instead of push weight is not an issue and if some added physical affort will fill a cylinder faster I'm all game. I wouldnt use it all the time but it would be nice to have the option.
I always keep a thick piece of plastic over the end of the adapter, held in place by an elastic bad wrapped around it 2 or 3 times, so as no contaminants can get in there. You don't want to be pumping an tiny bits of crap in to your chamber :-)
The factory grease on the pump shaft won't last long. Wipe it clean every 5- 7 times you use the pump and reapply silicone diving grease to the shaft. Just put a dime size amount on your palm and rub the pump shaft up and down. This will extend life of seals greatly. Amazon sells it for cheap.
hello there..hi I've only used a pump for the past 2 yaers fir my air guns....do you think I'm running the risk of corrosion in my cylimders? thank you.
mat barnett You're paying for something that can pump up to 4500 psi BY HAND. There's obviously a lot of precision manufacturing and quality control put into a product like this, why would you cheap out? It's this, or a shoebox compressor + air compressor unit that would run upwards of $1000 /or paying for refills at the local scuba/paintball shops.
mat barnett just use the hand pump it’s cheaper and it’s good exercise just make sure your sweat doesn’t hit the rifle otherwise you will have a problem with corrosion
Does anyone know what I need to grease the shaft on My air pump to fill my Benjamin Discovery rifle?????? Someone anyone need help on this one. Don Jackson
The Umarex Origin is also a *great* entry PCP. It comes standard with a hand pump for the win. You will need a scope, red dot sight, or other rail-mount optic/sight. The Origin does not have open/iron sights.
Yes. The water filter for hand pump is necessary. Mandatory especially for the higher end guns. I didn’t use one on the umarex gauntlet for awhile but gave two high pressure water vapor filters inline between pump and pcp tanks.
I recently purchased a Benjamin high pressure hand pump, but now a month later it gave me a problem. Whenever I take off the pressure valve from the rifle, all of the air comes out of the rifle. Do u know how I can fix this problem ? Thanks
Don Jackson Get Crosman RMCOIL and put 2-3 drops on the main shaft and lubricate evenly with you clean finger, You can also buy White Lithium grease from many auto-parts stores to lubricate the seal.. The main concern is to never use petroleum based products! Use only Synthethic Silicone Grease/Oil. If your pump fail don't panic! its incredibly easy to rebuild the pump and inexpensive! I can do mine completely in 5 minutes, The rebuild kit cost only 12 bucks with all the O-Rings.
Gee Trieste Its a three-stage pump, the upstroke refills the first chamber with ambient air while compressing air in the second chamber, than downstroke compresses air in first chamber to a 2-3 bars (which goes into the second chamber mentioned before), while boosting air pressure to a few hundred bars in the third chamber. Its just designed in a way that the user doesn't need as much effort for the upstroke.
thank you for a detailed lesson, much appreciated. but i have a question eventhough you said its not needed, but how and where do i lubricate with silicon oil?
Hey, man. I don't have this Benjamin one, but mine recommends a few drops of oil on the secondary shaft (the shaft that is concealed when the pump is fully collapsed). Put a couple drops on the metal and pump it a bit to lubricate evenly. Cheers.
Yes, good tip. I suggest the Hatsan Mod 135 Vortex QE . This puppy is a real BANGER in 30cal. Cocking effort of 50lbs will be a strain on the under 140 pound users, but well worth the effort!
13-years (2024) after this video was made, I bought my first PCP and found this to be a great lesson on a topic that was new to me. Thank you.
Feels like a corporate training video that a new employee has to watch as part of their training 😂

I dont think its that hard, and i weight 160 pounds.
175lb here and 2000+ psi gets unbalanced easily. If only they can make a stair stepper so you just use your biggest muscles.

I've learned more about airgun hand pumps in the last four minutes than I have in my entire life might get into PCP thanks

Do you disconnect the gun before or after bleeding the valve?

is it possible to put moisture filter in a benjamin hand pump?

What is the price of this air pump and the total cost to send it to saudi arebia ............ thanks

Thanks I'm getting an Airforce Condor and an air pump. Pump for now. this imfomation is going to be usefull thanks
Can u use a bike pump as a cheaper option
Excellent video. Thank you

Can you tell me, what liquid can be fill between the outer tube and the inner tube of pcp handpump ?
Silicon oil... if you havnt found out yet RMCOIL 😎
Please put a link in the description of the video to lead us to the next episode or atleast arrange the playlist. its all messed up.
can itbe used for boke or mower tires? Can you get end of hose fitting to do this??
hi this is a nice video.. what is the outer tube and inner tube made of? is this steel, aluminum or stainless steel?
Can you use a bicycle pump with a few adjustments?
no your gun will break
Ok, thanks
I watch video after video and nobody stops at the top and bottom of the stroke with their pumps. Why is this aren't they doing it right?
@pyramydair What the most powerful spring piston. They make in .25
You would love the Hatsan Mod 135 Vortex QE . It's a gas piston that takes 50lbs of cocking effort. My favorite air gun. I have the 30cal.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH A SPRAY OF THIN MOISTURE RESISTANCE LUBE BEFORE PUMPING.....GOOD FOR SEALS ????
Great video!
All the air inside the reservoir tank gets released as well on bleeding. Help!
Sounds like a check valve on the tank inlet isn't working.
can't believe I am watching a video that is 12years old
Will it work on a paintball tank
can i ask a question does anyone know about a footpump aigun?
marlangelXXVIII that would be great idea! If ya find one let me know please
There are footpump airguns made in the Philippines by estrella parco, escopeta, garco, philcolt, & farco
Is there any cheaper option other than 150

Great hi-def video!!! FFS!!!
P.S. Nice hangnail!! Professional!!!
240p is not high definition 😂
*For those of us that don't have the funds for both a gun and compressor,* _what PCP rifles are the most hand pump friendly?_
The new Gamo arrow looking like a great starter gun
@@joebotz1243 It is! Recently gave one for 11 yr old "jr's" birthday. A lot of fun!

Great tuition on using the pump, one aspect you missed, it is also good exercise.
Is it necessary to fit a moisture trap/filter to it?
Thanks.

many thanks , very helpful video, some history too!

I fixed the upstroke but not the down.
Good
I had to wipe my pump because it was covered with grit and dirt. What do I need to oil the pump piston again????

1/2 hr to change O rings everytime...sounds to me ""maintenance""" and it is NOT FREE
Can i hand pump a empty pcp tank?
yes, but pack a lunch, because it will take awhile. ;)
That was some seriously crude spannering dude! Entertaining though, thank you.
What happen to this guy?
I have to be honest I had no idea pumping up a PCP was so bloody hard, kind of puts me off them TBH

Does NOT look like any compression on the upstroke.
