studying is definitely a chore, but if you go for internships or some short exposure stints at hospitals, you will soon realize that peoples lives are actually in your hands - its a realization/concept hard to grasp until you are actually faced with it. that motivated me to study even once i started working even more, and made me realize how dumb it was to think of studying in med school as a "chore". its a responsibility and its not a choice

How to apply this in school:
    1. Relax, in games there’s no punishment in taking risks and in school the worst that could happen is you taking a test again.
    2. Time yourself, in games there’s a goal it’s getting to the end and in school the goal is to get good grades so time yourself how long it takes to get all the problems right.
    3. Sit in different positions, in games there’s always a different challenge that makes it fun and in school you can’t really do a lot to change that but you can sit in different positions while doing your work so it feels fresh
    4. Set goals, in games there’s a goal it’s to get to the end and beat the level and in school the goal is to get good grades, get smarter, and feel good in your grades and a good grade is different for everyone so it’s important to set goals so you feel like you accomplish something.

Tracking progress is honestly a life saver. I'm a very impatient person, so impatient in fact, that I am graduating college in three years. Every week I make a to-do list on a sticky note above my desk, I cross things out as I do them, I also write the week number at the top of the list. Every week I get closer to the end of the semester and visualizing that helps. Even more helpful though, I bookmarked my degree requirements in my browser, and named it after my degree with a percentage. This is how close I am to done with my degree. Right now, it says Geography 93.56%, because I am in my 10th week of my final semester of college. I remember the days where it was in the single digits, and am so glad they are way behind me.

Super interesting video! I'm taking a game developement class and I wanted to share something I've learned. There's an idea in game developement called the "flow state". The flow state can be visualized as a graph, with player skill as one axis and game difficulty as the other axis. A balance needs to be found between the player's skill and the game's difficulty. If this balance is maintained, the player remains in the flow state. If this balance is not maintained, the player will feel boredom (high skill + low challenge) or anxiety/frustration (low skill + high challenge), and the flow state will be interrupted. Fun video games are optimized to keep you in a flow state.
I think that the points that you talked about were super spot-on. In addition to those points, I think that studying is not as fun as a video game because a flow state is not maintained! Personally, I find studying enjoyable if there is a good balance between my knowledge/skill and the content difficulty. As soon as that is not the case, I no longer want to study. If the content is too easy (aka high skill + low challenge), I feel bored. If the content is too difficult (aka low skill + high challenge), I feel stressed.
So yeah, super long comment but I thought that people might find this interesting! I'm new to the game dev world so if anyone else has things to add I would love to hear it :)

    this is so smart!!
I came up with a kinda similar idea - I always had an issue with remembering stuff, but there were things like song lyrics that somehow stuck with me after only listening to them a couple times
so what I did was turning whatever I had to learn into a song lol. Whether it was a new one or just matching the words to an existing melody
it definitely helped a lot, but could be more tricky with biiiig loads of material to study

I literally have Notion open in a different tab with questions I made for myself for my neurobio class. The toggle feature has been a lifesaver for me. It feels like life and death for me as a result of which I often come under extreme pressure amd stress and hence not able to work to my full potential. I'm trying really hard to remind myself everyday that it is okay to fail and that doesn't mean I'll fall behind. Not doing so well with that reaffirmation atm but I'm trying.

The problem is, I don't know how to take the pressure off sometimes. I once had to buy a new textbook, same one but later edition, because every time I opened that textbook, my mind closed, I got tense and got a headache. Even looking at that book put studying out of the question!
