Jerry Lewis ( The original Nutty Professor ) used to have Tellathons called Jerry's Kids , this sketch is spoofing the Jerri Curl. The Jerri Curl was a popular hairstyle with black people in the 80s ( and used too much activator . )

So you’ve already seen from some commentors what the Jerry curl is. It was made most famous by the Jacksons. If you’ve seen the movie coming to America, they make a big joke about it with the product Soul Glow. And one of the funniest scenes is when Daryl’s parents leave marks on the couch from the Jerry girls.

The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon was on almost every tv channel every Labor Day for over 50 years, it was for muscular dystrophy. last one was in 2015. Jerry Lewis was partners with Dean Martin.

Jerri Curl was for Blacks with curly perms. It was really a perm that had to have spray mixed into the scalp. Made the hair curl on its own course .
