    Battery is no longer available for sale. For a good replacement AND cheaper, get the Li Time instead.
    Li-Time Battery (60ah): amzn.to/3ZzyO00 | It Will fit & Cheaper, but less capacity
    Li-Time Battery (100ah): amzn.to/4gePsYj | cannot guarantee fitment inside ToolBox since its a hair larger than the EG4 WP. You could probably modify the box a bit if it doesnt' fit.

    In this episode we build a 5 kWh mobile portable rolling solar generator in 15 minutes or less for less than $2000. This portable power station is the Delta pro in Delta ultra killer because of its massive storage capacity and it's massive solar input. This e.g. for hybrid all in one inverter can take 5000 W of solar input and put out 3000 W continuous with up to 6000 W of surge capacity. With enough solar panels you should be able to run this all day. You could run it in your trailer set up for whatever you need it to and you would be good with mounting solar panels on the roof of your trailer. This is a great set up which is portable because it's on wheels and you can wheel it to where ever it needs to go and can easily be recharged by mains power or solar.
    EG4 3kW Off-Grid Inverter | 3000EHV-48 | 3000W Output | 5000W PV Input | 500 VOC Input [$675]

    Larger Battery Terminal Connections(Supports up to 2 AWG)
    Minor Improvements to the exterior design

    Very creative build! It’s a great 120v inverter for the money and the 500VDC charge controller can take in a lot of solar panel power if run in series. I opted to go with a generator cord output that I could connect directly to my generator transfer switch. Worked great! I could run my house loads for 4-6 hours depending on what I used. Keep building! 👍⚡️☀️💡🔋🤠

    I'd put inverter other way around so standing up it vents nicely as designed and power strips are higher up...also breaker being down at the ground is going to get bumped, drug thru water etc...that should be up top. Pretty clean compact setup though. I like the MPP 3048 since they work better on smaller arrays that might fit the role of a portable system.

      I did this type setup with EG46000XP and 3 lifepower batteries. Its built on a homemade cart 1200lb capacity. goes easy through doorways and easy to roll around and roll on a trailer if needed. Could i theoretically connect an rv receptacle rather than the surge outlets? I believe the rv needs 120v 30amp. so is that inverter able to step up your 48v battery and allow 120v output to rv receptacle?

    Great form factor, and I like that the battery is inside the box, (which lessens the chance of anything shorting across the battery terminals while working around it). Unfortunately for me, I chose 12 volt, 300 amp/hour batteries, so I'm going to build on a 18" x 40" tool cart, which can hold the 4 batteries on the bottom shelf. The upside of using the WattCycle batteries I chose, is that I get more than 50% more watt hours of battery storage for the money spent, when compared to the EG4 48 volt rack mount batteries, when using four 12V, 300 amp/hour WattCycle batteries, compared to two of the EG4 rack mount batteries. (Well over 15kwh, compared to just over 10kwh)
    My question, which I haven't figured out yet, is can two of these EG4 3kw AIO inverters be connected in parallel for 240V split phase operation, AND also be connected to the same battery bank, or must each inverter have its own battery bank? I'd like to build my cart with just one EG4 3kw inverter for now, but add a 2nd inverter later for the 240 split phase power to backup my house during power outages, but my cart won't have room or weight capability to add more batteries. Plus my limited retirement budget doesn't have room to spend another $2k+ on 4 more batteries.

  • @tonyinfinity

    The only problem with this setup that nobody mentions is that if you want to charge this with solar you need to have a minimum of 120V of solar, so if you think you're going to build this and go out camping don't think you'll be able to just plug in a 200 watt portable solar panel.

    • @garyfleming4101
      @garyfleming4101 5 місяців тому +1

      Right. It it makes it a excellent option for a cheap home backup setup. Even though it's rated at 5000w I think 4000 would be excellent for this unit and you could power essentials for days or permanently with the right batteries.

    • @arminius301
      @arminius301 3 місяці тому +1

      To generate 120v of solar would take a shizzton of panels to even initiate the mppt charger controller, are you kidding? So that option is pretty much useless unless you have at least 1000 watts of solar panels. In winter you'll need at least 1400 watts of panels. That EG4 system is a joke! There's much better options out there where you don't need that much solar to fire the system up. EG4 get your shizz together!

    • @tonyinfinity
      @tonyinfinity 3 місяці тому +5

      @@arminius301 That's not true. A typical solar panel is almost 30 volts so 4 in series would produce 120volts.

    • @arminius301
      @arminius301 3 місяці тому

      @@tonyinfinity I was a little off, I stand corrected. My Renogy 100W panels have an optimum operating voltage of 18.6V, so it would require at least 7 of those panels to initiate that EG4 system to even fire up the mppt controller. That's still 7 panels you've got to have, and that's only on a sunny California day at peak conditions. So figure at least 800 to 900 watts of solar. Coming to think of it my math wasn't that far off at all! So I don't stand corrected and stand by what I stated!

    • @tonyinfinity
      @tonyinfinity 3 місяці тому +3

      @@arminius301 Haha I get what you were saying. Maybe not a "shizzton" of solar but yes you'd need at least 600 watts in series to get the inverter to charge. So this setup isn't ideal for someone going out camping with a 200 watt folding solar panel, but it does have it's uses. If you needed a good amount of power and were just charging it at home off AC power than this would work great. or if you did have 600+ solar array at home, it would charge it, tho it would probably take more than a full day. The EG4 isn't a bad inverter and it would be plenty for a small cabin or RV but this is kind of silly to use on a "suitcase" build.

    Fits perfectly. Does that EG4 unit allow a limited amperage to be pulled from its 120vac input? Eg. If you had a 1500w load and only a 800w generator, or will it just pass the full load to the generator (ac input) and try to load 1500w on to the generator?

    • @danielking2944
      @danielking2944 6 місяців тому +1

      The ac charge is setting # 11 Very simple to change so you don’t overload your ac power source. If it’s on a generator you need to keep the load low enough to avoid distortion. If it’s powered by a cord and you’re using the inverter loads ,keep in mind the ampacity of the circuit and cord.
      I’ve used this same setup with great results. With a string of ten 60 cell panels and 3 batteries you can take a travel trailer off grid.

    This idea is nothing new except for the thought that went into choosing the right box for the battery. This system is very capable of being the heart of a whole-cabin power supply. All you need are the three or four solar panels that can stand above it to protect it and a way to shed rain. My home system is this simple except for the size. All those combiner boxes are for people who like to spend money so they don't have to unplug a cable. There are cheaper ways to make systems like this if you don't care about having his level of clean fitting. Same goes for making and breaking low-amperage circuits safely and easily.

Unless you had a schoolie or something very large, Or unless you set up some serious racks and set them up every time you boondock? I mean you would only need 4-5 3-440 Watt panels I think, but definitely not very easy for a smaller van or Rv.

If you have its load source setting # 1 on SBU ,that is, solar first,then battery assists when solar isn’t sufficient. Finally,when the battery is discharged to a point you select,it switches to utility in as little as ten milliseconds. Can you start the generator that fast ?
