Honestly, compared to the previous two entires, I've never been more disappointed. The story is weak, the gameplay is mid in comparison, a lot of the places due to the maps being procedurally generated leave a lot to be desired, and they even cut down on the fish it seems. They took out numerous mechanics, you don't even get to breach the water like you used to be able to. They took away the zoom feature to see tinier critters, and just make this bare bones in comparison. While yes, I do still love this game, it has to be my least favorite Endless Ocean game of the bunch, and this is coming from someone who has been playing EO since its release in 2007. The game feels... unpolished to say the least, the textures are even meh, these textures were okay for the Wii era because well, it was the Wii, but this is the switch and some of the fish look so bad, like Thanatos.

Also, while I do like that you no longer have to worry about being absolutely mauled by creatures like in the second game, I do wish they made the more aggressive species... aggressive. Like have them chase you down. Though, even with this lack of aggression, I still find myself terrified every single time a dunkleosteus pops up behind me because knowing how terrifyingly large and dangerous they are I'm just freaked out by them swimming so casually next to me in the pitch black.
I also miss how in the second game you could travel the world to see different species, not just sticking to one location. It was fun exploring the amazon rainforest! The Arctic Ocean! But in this it's just... one big RNG fest with no real exploration besides "oh, here's some random landmarks btw they're gonna be the same usually."
