a pad has all the harmonics and thus can be the main tool for imagining the right notes you may be in search of in a melody you're stuck in. make the most frequent note (root/tonic note) into one long note and mix it against the pad du jour. Even try the third and fifth to go further and to _modulate_ within the scale. Great video man. :-)
