Ohhhh, Sick Houses is calling my name. So happy I'm not in a RWYO challenge because I'm thriving with new releases this year. You listed a lot of my preorders but I've got tons more like Eat the Ones You Love, The Butchers Daughter, The Lamb, and Victorian Psycho. I'm leaning more into folk and gothic horror this year.
Beta Vulgaris could be great.. hard to say. I hope so bc I also like the cover. The Unworthy cover is also pretty great. I hadn’t heard of Once was Willem, but I do love Buehlman and medeival horror soooooo I’ll check it out. Thanks for this!
I highly recommend "Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng" by Kylie Lee Baker! It comes out on April 29th! I received an ARC of the book, and I loved it!
You mentioned you dont know about much Minnesota horror? May I point you to the late , esteemed ,and primarily known for his scifi novels -Thomas M. Disch. He was more varied than that htough and wrote across many genres including his horror quartet set in-yes, Minnesota which has been called his Minnesota Gothic Quartet. Starting with ,The Business Man in 1984, The M.D. (my favorite), The Priest, and The Sub. YOu may proceed into the wacky world and mind of Tom Disch now...(addedum: The hard back editions have beautiful cover designs. Ignore the pb covers comparatively)
@@PrettyInPapercuts YAS! He was so diverse ...he also published books of poetry and criticism/nonfiction. But his horror and scifi are where its at! All those are great! Check out his sly sense of humor in those genres.

There are so many gothic and folk horror books coming out this year!! It’s bananas. The reading is gonna be good 😈
I haven’t watched the whole video yet, but I see The Devils by my boi Abercrombie. It’s my most anticipated book of the year! He’s my favorite.
I like Abercrombie too! The Devils sounds awesome - I’m for sure ordering myself a copy

Wow, I looked him up - he wrote The Brave Little Toaster?! That’s so neat. I’ll look into his horror too, thank you!
