Another wonderful learning experience with Elena as the guide. I particularly loved the very ancient church. Majestic scenery and fascinating architecture, all described in the most pleasant manner.
Interesting that locals are creating an attractive village from what exists from decades ago. Also, noticed that our enchanting host has become thinner & more attractive since arrival in Georgia. A beneficial effect on both. Best wishes, dear Elena.
We are satisfied for your adoption of Georgia as temporary residence for you bring non-treaded places and their secrets. Very nice to know you're fine and free to discover more to share. Thanks.
Yet another beautiful discovery, Lenochka! It’s nice that the locals are trying to preserve this charming village. You’ve come a long way from Izhevsk 😊!
Thank you Elena, for taking us along on another excursion, conveying your perspective on the experience, and as always, related in your own relaxed style. Georgia is such a rich source of history, culture, and interest.
Hi Elena. Thanks for another interesting video. I wonder if there are any German villages like that in Russia. Seems like the Germans were busy settling everywhere. Take care!
Hi Kevin! Yeah, that’s interesting 🤔 I heard about one German community in a village in Udmurtia (the region where I was born), but they’re all Russian Germans now - they speak Russian and everything
Very interesting ,It was tough to live in Germany in 19th century .Not enough agriculture land, population explosion ,many wars ,Prussian Austrian war in 1860s ,lots of Germans had to leave..I believe German farmers were invited by Czarina Ekaterina in 18th century,Volga Germans for example. We used to have 3 million etnic Germans ,speaking german language ,in Czechoslovakia before the WWII.They all had Czechoslovak passports and citizenships ,and have been living in whats know Sudetenland since 13th century .Than some crazy small thief from Georgia Dzugashvili Stalin conquered mother Russia ,and Austrian painter Hitler Germany ,and all most hard working German Czech ,almost all of 3 million of them ,had to lieave after the WWII ....We lost lost of brains ,engineers, doctors ,scientist or farmers etc.Thats one of the reasons why Bavaria is most richest region in Europe now.Whats the difference bording Hamburg America line and moved to USA or moved to Russian Empire ,and later relocated by Stalin to desert of Kazachstan ...very moving ,to know about people fate .I think Schwabian Germans assiminated in Romania ,Hungary, and other different parts of Austrian Hungarian empire.Czech people have one thinrd of German blood ,other is Slavic and Celtic .Iam pretty sure ,iam more Slavic )....interesting video, spasiba Elena ,I like the way they renovated German houses ,that winery looks pretty tasty .Iam definetely going for trip to Goergia .friendly ,hospitable ospitable people, good food ,wine ,mountains...)
Most of the Germans in Georgia didn't move there from Germany, but from the german minorities that already lived in the Russian Empire. Mostly from the Volga basin, and the Baltics.
@@gerdforster883 I wonder ,how much of them got German citizenship right after 1993..As I remember ,there were looong lines a front of the German embassy in Moscow ,full of ethnic Germans coming from mostly Kazachstan .Some had money and slept in bad hotels ,but lots of them just slept in railway stations .I believe majority of them ware succesfull getting German passports.Thats why you have lots of Russian speaking in Germany ,huge comunity ,and some of them retire and living happily in Georgia ,Russia ,Kazakstan from all the powerfull euros sending them to their banking accounts in Germany .Of course ,little bit tough now ,with Visa and Mastercard now not working in Russia
Stalin deported several ethnic groups he considered to be untrustworthy. After the german invasion of the Soviet Union, that also included the Germans.
@mfreund15448 Ahm, no. The Germans in Georgia were Soviet citizens when they were deported, and citizens of the Russian Empire before that. They were deported at the beginning of the war.

I'm wondering why the Germans had to leave. It must have been devastating for them. Their removal sounds more like something Russia would do.
Stalin deported several ethnic groups he considered to be untrustworthy. After the german invasion of the Soviet Union, that also included the Germans.
Because they lost the war….

Enemy aliens
The old saying is georgia is for georgians. "Outsiders" are not very much appreciated. I am not surprised the germans eventually left.
German villages but no Germans
